Why not design it in a sphere? With little suckers on it's body, so it could make it up hill? (or is that a gyroscope? I have had a long, long day, so my brain is fried...). There's still lots to discuss, imho. Why did they turn low? What can I learn to prevent me from being in that position in the first place? Is it better to take a downwinder instead of flat turning into the wind at 80 feet? Were they avoiding another jumper? How many degrees turn was needed instead of a 180 to avoid the other jumper? Did they unstow their brakes before final, or did they do it late, and only then discover the problem? Would a canopy control class have taught this jumper something to save his ass/head? As a very low time jumper, I want to know the whole process. The why's, where's, how's. It is not ever enough to say "the ground will kill you"- I know that. What I want to know is what led to the situation in the first place - and how to make sure (or as sure as I can) that if I ever find myself in that situation, I have a different option. Given that this is a sport where you can do everything right and still die, I really don't see that happening in the majority of cases. Therefore, I want to know what was done wrong so I can learn. Speculation, then, creates an area of learning, a reasonable place to discuss and to grow my knowledge base. To show me where I am wrong, where I am right, and where I need to learn more. LOL, we've spoken several more times than just once, and I didn't lecture you about anything. We've spoken at Perris, at Elsinore, and here. Once, I asked for your opinion as to how to prevent low turns, and you basically said you didn't care, people were people, and you used to take bets at boogies as to who would "frap in" that. You're right, Kev, I may be overreacting. However, this person knows me, she and I have had discussions at the DZ. She knows that I post here as "Michele" This person can be as suspicious as she likes, and she can think whatever she chooses about me. I don't have to like it, however. And it does rankle me. There are few guaranteed ways to piss me off - one of them is baseless accusations and impungnation of my integrity, however slight that may be (in this kind of situation...I am not talking about political discussions...LOL). Considering I was accused of starting a scam paypal account, I don't think this is too funny. I don't have a whole lot of anything if I don't have my integrity. And as I see the accusation of the scam as an attack on my integrity, it pisses me off no end. No, Bolas, you didn't accuse me. Your reticence to actually do that says more for you - ie you're more than willing to spout a party line than you are to actually debate it - than it says about the topic. I'm lazy too.
