  1. I flew 3 1/2 hours this summer in 1 hour blocks split with one other person and it was no problem. We did one hour saturday and another sunday on each of our trips down. We each payed $75 per half hour for individual coaching with some of the best skydive/Freefly/Tunnel coaches in the world. You don't have to fly it straight... we all know you share the time between fliers... We're talking about 1 hour blocks, which are $630 an hour, plus an hour for coaching, which they're charging $25 per half hour more than the standard. Tunnel camps include other campers, so we can assume that there will be 1 hour blocks split between a couple of flyersat a rate of $630 an hour. Obviously you think it's worth it, otherwise you wouldn't have replied (or you're friends with them), but like I said, IMO, it's way expensive for 1 hour of coached tunnel time. What's funny is that the price on the website has been updated since my original post. There are plenty of great coaches in Florida, and most of them charge less than this... why they've combined efforts really doesn't concern me. Other tunnel camps include coached skydives, or hotel, etc... Charge more money per hour than some of the best flyers in the world and you open yourself up for criticism... Still looks like a rip off to me... The coaches that I've used in the past give a better rate than that, and are more experienced than that, with more students than that, more skydives than that, more hours in the tunnel than that, and better results in competitions than that, unless of course the bio on the webpage have just been updated as well... which it has!! this is too funny! Suddenly 500 more jumps and 60 hours in the tunnel (which is still a relatively small amount of time)! These days it seems like there are new tunnel/freefly schools opening up all over the place. I think it's funny how the relatively new "schools" are charging higher rates than the ones with more experienced flyers, more experienced coaches, and more satisfied clients. They're driving the rates up for everyone, a trend that other coaches will soon follow. They should be charging less, not more... I hope it's worth it.
  2. That's a little bit far fetched... So now the "Oil for Food Scandal" is the scapegoat for why most of the countries in the World didn't support the invasion of iraq???? C'mon now
  3. They're charging $730 an hour??? So does that mean that they are charging $100 for coaching? edited: Their website says $850 an hour for tunnel camp... So if the tunnel is $630 an hour (which it is), that's $220 an hour for coaching? That's CRAZY expensive! I'm going to be totally honest here, and this is nothing personal, ok , but if you expect to charge $220 to coach in the tunnel, you should at least be pulling in some championships in some competitions or something. I mean, 4th place in Advanced class of a tunnel competition hardly qualifies you to be charging more than what some of the National champion freefly teams are charging for coaching. As well as 2nd place in intermediate freefly comps??? Like I said, nothing personal and no offense, but is this for real? For RW I'm sure it's a great experience, but for FF it looks like a rip off to me.
  4. Dude, I hated that canopy... I know I'll love any other Xaos or XBraced I fly, but that particular one really turned me off. -drew
  5. From what I have read, the UN is cooperating with the independant investigation led by Paul Volcker, but it's staff is not authorized to provide documents to the senate's investigation, which isn't really that unusual.
  6. She must think that the War in Iraq has something to do with Free Speech... I bet $1000 she believes Saddam was directly responsible for the 9/11 attacks and that the US has concrete evidence of WMD, Nuclear Programs, and a link between Saddam and the terrorists of Al-Queda as described by the Bush dministration before we invaded Iraq. Funny article though
  7. i think you should look again, look at the tail, one side is pulled down while the other isn't. when it originally spun up, both brakes were set, kevin as he pulled his hand out fired the brake. so the searching of the canopy caused the line twists, but the brake fire reminded him they where there later I saw that too, but the canopy doing what it did was not caused by a toggle fire... like you said, he probably popped it when he was first realized it was spinning up, but i think that this opening would have happened exactly the same regardless of what that toggle did. That canopy actually turned me off from buying a cross braced canopy for the time being... the openings searched way too much for my taste.
  8. You should check out the gear reviews or search this forum for similiar threads...
  9. Hey LilFrenchGirl, you better fill out your profile so all the dropzone.commers know your secret identity... See you in a couple of weeks
  10. Dude I put 10 jumps on that same exact 92 xaos 27 canopy and each time it "searched" hardcore to the left. I watched that video a couple of times and there was no toggle fire, just likle when I flew it there was no toggle fire. I think it was how the canopy flies.
  11. I have to agree with you on that one... I think pretty soon we'll be talking about China in relation to the Nuclear facilities in Iran. Another day.
  12. Trent, there were American Peacekeepers killed too, and there is unfortunately a big difference between a cease fire agreement and access to weapons sites, and Iraq and Cote d'Ivoire. The UN inspectors in Iraq reported that SH was allowing access to the weapons sites, and that there was no evidence of weapons programs... their conclusions are what the council based it's decisions on. You can't argue that the cease fire agreement in Cote d'Ivoire wasn't broken, and that because of that the country is going into major civil unrest, and that a huge blowout in an already volatile region of the world is apparent. That plus the killing of UN Peace keeping officers, UN staff and humanitarian workers justifies the response by the UN council to use whatever means necessary to enforce the cease fire agreement. Again, they're not invading a country, they're enforcing the cease fire agreement. Again, I see you train of thought here, but have to disagree with your comparision to Iraq. 2 totally different parts of the world with 2 totally different histories, and social, economic, and political situations.
  13. Awesome movie... Can't wait to buy it on dvd...
  14. Trent, they broke a UN ordered cease fire agreement. UN staff and PeaceKeeping personnel were killed, including some French and an American. The UN created new mandates that the PeaceKeeping Forces along with members of the French Military, were authorized to enforce with approval by the Security Council. IMO this isn't the strongest comparision with anything that's happened in Iraq. From the UN News Centre: from the UN News Centre:
  15. another case of: if you had a mac it would just work!
  16. Both men are flaming liberals. Hmmmmmm. Tuna, your replies always look the same.
  17. i don't know what's up with their website... 602 284 2001 is the number
  18. Rumor has it that Jeffro, Omar, Steve Curtis and Stephan Lipp have joined forces to start a new skydiving school based out of Skydive AZ, called Flight Club utilizing all the facilities including the big tunnel. This is a very impressive group of skydivers who have all been successful as instructors and competitors in all the disciplines of skydiving (Freefly, Freestyle, Camera Flying, RW and Canopy Control). They have a combined 25,000 jumps and many, many championship medals. Look for them throughout the AZ boogies this winter.
  19. I've only flown in Florida... When you go into the tunnel, you'll start on your back and learn to fly the slower air... then you'll progress to sit... HD is after many hours in the tunnel... For instance, I can fly head down, sit, back and belly in freefall, no problem, and I just started, in my last half hour session to go from carving on my back, up to carving head down, which was not easy to grasp. It's not like you'll get in the tunnel and be on your head right away... there's a definite progression. Learning to freefly in 120 mph winds is cool because you can freefly with tandems and belly groups... Learning to fly on your back is cool too... and running up and down the walls is the coolest of all! If I was you, I would save up enough money to buy an hour, go to the tunnel in Florida (little cheaper than california) with someone else, split 2 hours, one on one day, and one on another, half hour each in 2 minute sessions. Hire one of the coaches I mentioned above, and learn to fly. If you go for 10 minutes, you'll want to go more, but if you split 2 one hour sessions, you'll feel fulfilled, notice the difference in your flying, and have accomplished a lot in the tunnel. Don't forget to bring a video tape as they record the session for you.
  20. I find it a little strange that when you modify a classified ad that has pictures on it, that the pictures dissappear and you have to re-choose them or else the ad will no longer have pic associated with it. Is it just me?
  21. i put some jump on the sabre2 135... the openings were incredible. I didn't roll the nose or anything... I "T"ed the slider and threw it in the bag. Flawless openings every single time...
  22. i did 3 1/2 hours this summer with coaching, 1/2 hour at a time (splitting an hour each time with my gf)... kinda our own little tunnel camps, you know? Definitely worth it. I flew with Joao Tambor, Julianna and Fabian Se, and Sean Macormick. It's impact on my skydiving is incredible. Definitely worth it. -drew
