  1. I really don't see the big advantage of learning rw before learning freefly. There's plenty of dropzones where the majority of people freefly, and most do so right off of student status. There are some dropzones where no one does freefly, and others where no one does rw. Here's a thought... focus on all disciplines. Do some rw jumps and some freefly jumps. Focus on canopy flight. Learn to track early on. Maintain awareness, keep eye contact... There are no set rules with the learning curve. Some people wait 200 jumps before freefly, others wait 500 jumps before RW. Once off student status, you can go whatever direction you want. You can do everything wrong and not get hurt, or do everything right and get hurt. Just have fun, be safe, and remember the things you learned as a student. I learned freefly right off of student status. 1500+ jumps later I still have yet to do any serious rw jumps... do I feel I'm at a disadvantage? not at all.
  2. a lot of people will say it's good to have the rw foundation before you start freeflying, but I don't think it makes a difference. Fly the way you want to fly. Coaching will always help, and tunnel coaching will definitely help you... especially since one of the biggest habits to break, when learning freeflying after rw, is not going to your belly when you cork. Having a good sense of backflying from the tunnel will give you an option when you do cork, which in turn will make you safer. If the tunnel is a realistic option, I would start there for the freeflying... the learning curve is crazy in the tunnel, and I think that dollar for dollar, during the early jumps of freefly, it's much more worth it to hire someone in the tunnel, than to hire someone in the air... Just try to stay current in the air for emergency procedures, canopy flying, circle of awareness, etc...
  3. I just use a piece of gaffers tape on the top of the helmet and a simple thumb screw... the tape is so the camera doesn't spin. Here's a couple of pics from this weekend taken with the rebel xt on the top of the rawa.
  4. This is a pic from the same jump... and one from the tunnel... They're not photoshopped
  5. Her name is Roberta, and she's an incredibly talented Skydiver from Italy... She's also a rock star in the tunnel, and gf to one of the best skydivers in the industry. I believe she's tunnel coaching in Eloy.
  6. cartwheel... so you learn to keep eye contact with whatever is in front of you. Flipping into and out of head down is easy, yet a difficult habit to break. It's not appropriate for jumps other than solo. Learn cartwheels to go from head to sit and vice versa, and flips will follow without practice.
  7. of course he will... He's the president of the USA!
  8. i have the rattle... Didn't even notice it before.
  9. Why does the camera need to know whether I am shooting a vertical or horizontal frame? And, you say it should rattle, but freeflydrew says his doesn't. Does that mean freeflydrew camera is faulty? I'll recheck for the rattle tonight...
  10. i have the 350d and there's definitely no rattle...
  11. Except for the phone number... www.distinguished-brands.com
  12. There's a beer distributor called Distinguished Brands, who carry Fuller's Vintage Ale. This is a beer that is produced once a year and they only make 30,000 bottles at one time. Anyway, I'm trying to get in touch with this company to see if they have it in stock. 426 MacArthur Drive Littleton, CO 80124 Anyone near them or happen to have a phone number for these guys? Thanks Drew
  13. the basic way is to simply speed up the duration of the video clip (like fast forward)...
  14. It's the best that I've flown in, too...
  15. the aero store is his us distributer

  17. Save up for the powermac... the bigger advantage is that you can add internal hard drives with power mac... plus you can really bump up the ram. http://www.macsales.com. In addition, the powermac supports extending the desktop when 2 monitors are attached, and has a firewire800 port on the back. You're comparing the 2 high end machines from 2 totally different lines of computers. The iMac is off of the Consumer line and the PowerMac is off of the Prosumer line. The iMac G5 is a nice machine, but the PowerMac is simply the better machine.
  18. What do you do for Apple? (I'm an Apple Service Provider and Apple Desktop/Portable certified)
  19. We're using it here (on the ground) and it's absolutely a whole different ball game... The video is really incredible. However, when the subject has a lot of movement, the camera doesn't take a crisp video. Once the subject slows down a bunch, or goes still, you can see an incredible shift in color and clarity. Assuming it performs well in the air, it's definitely within the acceptable weight limitations for a camera helmet, and with little to no snag points, it should be great for skydiving...
  20. I use long risers... I think they're 27's or 29's on a stiletto 107 and it flies like a totally different canopy. For one thing, I like reaching up further when I grab the front and rear risers, and also feel like I have a little more control because of the added length... Can't think of anything else off the top of my head, but I definityely like them a lot!
