  1. I would strongly suggest getting away from the Canon Sports/Portrait mode and turn the dial around to shutter priority! Keep it on the 7 point focus, and set the metering mode to the middle option. ISO 100 for sunny days and 400 for overcast. Keep the quality at RAW, and the camera in burst. Although some people say manual focus is the way to go, I stick with auto focus...
  2. You still need the cable modem with the airport extreme/express... and, I'm not so sure that .Mac is worth the $$ I guess it differs per person. A lot of my clients are dissappointed that they bought it while others are happy. I use .Mac to sync my cal between 2 computers, plus I can deduct it as a business expense.
  3. You need to update the firmware... Goto http://192.168.1.1 the password is admin, the name is left blank *** The linksys router may not support video chat*** You don't need windows to do anything on the router, you just need to know how to do it... PM me if you need any help beyond this
  4. I would suggest picking up either the airport extreme ( a little pricey), or a Linksys Router (model #WRT54G). Much cheaper than an airport express and 3-4 times the signal strength. Sure the express cannot work with itunes, but really isn't strong enough to support a homes wireless network.
  5. scarcasm - Maybe they should keep the gays recruiting on campuses and let the real men, the straight men go fight for America - /scarcasm Seriously, to be paranoid about being "cornholed" if you had to share a tent with a homosexual is a little bit ridiculous, especially when you 'claim" to be ok with people being gay Somebody's sexual preference shouldn't make a difference as to what role they play in the military. Any thing different is discrimination, plain and simple. You can't be there because of your sexual preference, you can't do that because of your gender, you can't be here because of your race, you can't participate because of your religion... Get it? One person being discriminated against because of one's sexual preference is no different than someone being discriminated against because of someone's race or religion.
  6. don't break the rubber off... and get a better lens. :-) http://photography-on-the.net/forum/ is a great site with a ton of info...
  7. I do agree with that... There shouldn't be different standards for different organizations in terms of solicitation on campuses... but it definitely happens, right? Of course schools are selective with who they let solicitate on campus, even during Job fairs. It is strange that in order for an educational institution to receive funding from the Fed, they must allow the Military Recruiters to solicitate on their campuses... I just don't thiink that Military Recruitment and Educational Funding should be intertwined like this... Does it really make sense for a school to lose it's educational funding because it doesn't want the United States Military recruiting it's students? There must be better reasons to deny funds... like student / teacher ratios, academic excellence, financial aid student numbers, number of accepted students, budget cuts, etc, etc.
  8. I have a feeling that at State Universities, it's a whole different ballgame! But for the private schools, the Job Fair approach, I think, should make everyone happy...
  9. Here's my take on this... I don't agree that just because a school accepts federal money that they must be required to allow military recruiters on their campuses. BUT I do believe that during any Job Fair, Career events, etc that are hosted by these Fed-funded schools, the Recruiters should be allowed to attend... Universities set a lot of dates for these job recruitement events, where they invite in representatives from different companies to speak to students. If a student is interested in joining the military (which they probably would have done instead of going to college), these events are a great time for them to be approached... They would be there because they want to be approached and they want to be informed about their options. It seems to me that having the recruiters presence on campus any more than periodic Career events is more than whats necessary/appropriate,and a waste of both military budget and resources. That is the appropriate time for businesses and agencies to solicate themselves to the students, so why should the military be there more often?
  10. I too use the PC1000... I have to admit that my favorite camera was the PC5. However, the PC1000 has incredible picture quality, it's slim, the battery is inside it (which I think is an advantage), and sure the cradle sucks, but you get over it real quick!
  11. Go to www.OtherWorldComputing.com to buy RAM for Apple products. You won't void the warranty by installing it, and they usually have a lifetime warranty... in other words, if the ram fails, they'll replace it. Apple will only honor it the length of machines warranty (definitely not lifetime). I would never buy memory from ebay...
  12. Chris, look me up when you come to the Ranch. -drew
  13. I think there could be a really good scene at the ranch this year!
  14. I've set up 3 macbook pros so far and they're wicked nice! I think it's going to be a huge seller, unless apple gets way aggressive with the ibook/mac book... also looking forward to todays announcements from apple and to see what microsoft is releasing this evening!
  15. The Cover of the NYTimes Sports Section has a pic of two people over the tunnel, one is low and the other is up by the writing where it says New York times Sports Section. They're actually above the photo... It's such a sick picture!
  16. the 15mm sigma that is designed for the canon will fit the canon... the one designed for the nikon will not fit the canon. the front of the lens is not flat, so you cannot use any filters with it.
  17. sigma 24-70mm f/2.8 for the ground and 15mm in the air. Try to try before you buy though...
  18. Maybe he'll wear pink this time! From macrumors.com (obviously speculation): American Technology Research expects Apple to announce "its first, full-length films available for download on iTunes". This would expand iTunes content beyond the music, music videos and television episodes currently available. ATR also expects a widescreen consumer notebook and an entry level Mac mini which includes a remote control and FrontRow software. In what may provide possible confirmation, FreeMacBlog claims that Apple is no longer taking large orders for Mac minis, suggesting that they may have cleared out current inventory.
  19. He can't tell you more because Apple doesn't share product releases with anyone, not even people who work at the stores. Apple just sent out a press release inviting the media to check out new fun products on the 28th of February. Til then it's all speculation and rumors.
  20. i just picked up the sigma 24-70 f/2.8, and although it weighs a ton, I'm still gonna see how it shoots in the sky. I also have the sigma 15mm.
