  1. One of the Norton's products for the mac has built in parental controls. I've installed it on a client computer and they were very happy with the results.
  2. you should reset the airport from the little hole in the back Go to system preferences, network, show airport, TCP/IP, and make sure it's set to DHCP not (manuallydhcp or manual or anything else) Then run the airport express setup assistant (GO-->UTILITIES-->AIRPORT EXPRESS SET UP ASSISTANT) It should ask you for the type of connection you have, and the user name and password for the dsl service. You can also rename your wireless network and create a WEP password as well as change the password needed to access the airport config utility... Each time you make a setting change on the airport, it will take a minute to process because it has to reset the airport, so anticipate that happening... PM me if you have any ?'s -drew
  3. OK, first off, that is such a stupid post (the original one that started this thread)... Second off, the UN evacuated it's people from Iraq after the Head of the mission, and others, were killed when insurgents blew up the UN Offices in Iraq. But here's the kicker... they didn't run away from anything... They moved their base of operations into Jordan where they could be safe and still operate efectively. Oh yeah, let's not forget that everytime you write about the "UN", your writing about the "US" because the "US" plays a major part of the "UN". PS-Here's a quote from Kofi Annan from the 28th of Jan: "“Elections are the best way to determine any country’s future; please exercise your democratic rights on Sunday,” he said in a videotaped pre-election message to the people of Iraq. “Whatever your feelings about how the country reached this point, this election offers an opportunity to move away from violence and uncertainty toward peace and representative government." “To those who seek to disrupt the democratic process, let me say that there can never be justification for murder and intimidation of voters, candidates and election workers. Don’t deny Iraqis who choose to vote their right to do so in freedom and safety,” he added. The elections are a crucial first step toward a new constitution and a free and stable Iraq, he said." Didn't read anything about leaflets there! PPS- Just so there's no question as to what exactly the UN's role in Iraq is suppoed to be, here's that info: "RESOLUTION 1546 ON IRAQ (8 June 2004) Paragraph concerning the mandate of UNAMI 7. Decides that in implementing, as circumstances permit, their mandate to assist the Iraqi people and government, the Special Representative of the Secretary-General and the United Nations Assistance Mission for Iraq (UNAMI), as requested by the Government of Iraq, shall: (a) play a leading role to: (i) assist in the convening, during the month of July 2004, of a national conference to select a Consultative Council; (ii) advise and support the Independent Electoral Commission of Iraq, as well as the Interim Government of Iraq and the Transitional National Assembly, on the process for holding elections; (iii) promote national dialogue and consensus-building on the drafting of a national constitution by the people of Iraq; (b) and also: (i) advise the Government of Iraq in the development of effective civil and social services; (ii) contribute to the coordination and delivery of reconstruction, development, and humanitarian assistance; (iii) promote the protection of human rights, national reconciliation, and judicial and legal reform in order to strengthen the rule of law in Iraq; and (iv) advise and assist the Government of Iraq on initial planning for the eventual conduct of a comprehensive census;"
  4. It also doesn't say if they include all the INNOCENT civilians that were blown to pieces while their buildings exploded... I doubt anyone has sifted through the reckage, trying to piece everyone back together and get a real casualty count.
  5. that's funny, cause when i search a little, i find the blame placed on the security council and the international community as a whole, not Kofi Anna... http://www.acdis.uiuc.edu/Research/OPs/Kolodziej/EAKGen/html/contents/EAKGenpart1.html But hey, you're probably anti-UN anyway, so what's the point, right?
  6. The problem with the people who write against Annan, is that they seem to misunderstand the structure of the United Nations... Annan is the General Secretary, which is a political position. The governing body of the UN is the Security Council is the group who make the decisions of what the UN does, and how they do it. To point blame at one figure in the UN is just incorrect, when your country's representatives are part of the group at fault. It is the decisions of the Security Council, not Kofi Annan that sculpt the UNs impact on the countries of the world.
  7. They called off the search for WMDs without finding any evidence of banned weapons nor programs... Who'd a guessed it? I'm not going to post a link because you can find it on every news website out there...
  8. You're not going to get the same resolution that you would have with the apple display... unless you chose an hp display in which case you would...
  9. it's nicknamed a dongle and it is shipped with the laptops... $20 from apple - search the apple store under displays...
  10. we had a guy who was selling gear on the dropzone. They kicked him off because he was told not to sell gear there, yet he continued to do so. He has since been allowed back. I don't think the decision was personal at all... just business i guess.
  11. I think that learning to back fly is more important than learning to sit fly as it switches your "safe" position from belly to back once you do start flying upright or head down... Perhaps this should be the first orientation studied?
  12. 83 jumps... got one in with Sangiro. Super boogie
  13. Backup up your bookmarks first! In Safari, you can clear Reset the Program under the Safari menu... also dump your dz.com cookies... clear your history... you could also go into the home-->library-->preferences and dump the safari prefs... also dump the contents of the folder Safari in Library in Home...make sure that safari is up to date (which I'm sure it is). Other than that, there's no reason that this should be happening. (I don't think that Firefox is better than Safari so I don't use it) And go to your profile/Display settings on DZ.com and make sure they are set correctly! later -drew
  14. i would definitely try on the under armour before you buy it... there's also a couple different types of layes and designs which you may or may not like. They do, however, work great for jumping!
  15. this should be a link, not an attachment... and it requires logging into excite. yawn
  16. Try searching the forums for the answer... This has been covered a gazillion times.

  18. over $2.30 just outside manhattan, one place is over $250
  19. I'm pretty sure the site will be up over the next couple of days... I was out there in Eloy over Thanksgiving, and the boys from Flight Club are definitely staying busy. Jeffro, Omar, Stephan, and Steve Curtis were all coaching a ton, and fun jumping too. Incredibly impressive group of guys. As a side note, Cathy Bouette is also out there (Aka the Little French Girl). She's a hot shot freeflyer from France who coaches for the Babylon school during the summer. She's got over 2000 jumps is a member of the Women's World Record Team, she's sponsored by Precision, and is just 20 years old. Definitely worth making some jumps with her. Skydive Arizona is totally hopping. I definitely suggest everyone gets there and sees all that it has to offer: Arizona Training Center, Flight Club, Skyventure, the Swoop Park, perfect landing areas, and the best airplanes in the industry... Boom!
  20. First off you are full of BS to say "period" in terms of OSX and viruses. It does take alot of searching to find ANY virus that attacks macintosh, but there are viruses out there. Yes the macintosh is fairly safe from most expoits and viruses (if patched regularly). Gene Spafford uses macintosh for this reason. http://www.zdnet.com.au/news/security/0,2000061744,39164062,00.htm FYI - I'm the Tech Lead in an environment with over 800 computers owned/used by Students/Families/Techers... I also work privately... In 7 years, I have NEVER seen a Mac infected with any type of virus, Spyware, or "Pop up" generating program. So it's not "BS", and anyone else out here with a Mac will also tell you that they've never had a virus.
  21. I'm surprised the wake turbulence didn't collapse their canopy
  22. I have a 17 inch Powerbook, and a 12 inch Powerbook, both of which I use for editing... the 17 has a Gig of RAM, and the 12 has 768. No problems on either, especially with a second monitor connected to extend the desktop. The new iMac is definitely a great machine, coming in a 17 or 20 inch configuration, with the G5 processor... and it's the All in one setup that Apple offers. Get to an Apple Store to check it out. G5 is comparable to anything windows based on the market. Then there's also the G5 tower. These tend to come in Dual Processor configurations, buyt Apple has recently offered the lower end single processor model which is very affordable. Here's my take on the line: The iBook is garbage... -The 12 PB, very portable, powerful, small screen though. -The 17 PB, more like a portable desktop than a laptop, likes to be on a desk and not your lapt, a little pricey, very powerful, very nice screen, IMO best laptop on the market (next to the 15 inch PB) -The G5 iMac Very Affordable, Good screen size, Very Powerful, Not as Expandable as the G5 Tower -The G5 Tower does not come with a monitor, is very powerful, very expandable, IMO the best desktop on the market. Advantages of Apple over anything else: No Viruses, No Pop ups, No Spyware... Period Best Tech Support, Repair Process on the market Visually and mechanically applealing products Plug and Play with many, many digital devices, very rarely any need to install any software to make something work. They come installed with a bundle of software that covers word processing, music organizing, photo organizing, dvd burning, movie editing, email, etc, etc... The Mac operating system is built on UNIX which is basically bomb proof. I NEVER have to use force quit (equivelant of CTRL-ALT-DEL), nor restart my computer. Disadvantages to Apple: you have to find new friends to steal software from... Using an Apple computer is really a whole new experience with computers. People often switch to Macs, and rarely switch from a Mac to windows. You should really try to get to an Apple store to check out their lineup...
  23. Yoshi, you HAVE TO buy the Applecare Extended Warranty for what ever apple portable you purchase... I am an Apple Tech and there is a problem with all the ibooks Logic Boards that w/o the warranty, will cost you at least 900 bucks to have repaired. (Apple repairs the older iBook Logic Boards for free, but not the newer ones). There are also issues with a cable that runs through the hinge, connecting the LCD to the Logic Board. IMO, the PB, although more expensive, is the way to go. (I own the 12 inch PB and the 17 PB, and my old machine is the 15 inch PB). The PB has a Faster Processor, it's a lighter machine, more expandable in terms of memory, able to extend your desktop by connecting another monitor (ibook only mirrors desktop), not plagued by the ibook Logic Board / Video problems. I work in an envirornment with many, many Apple products, and besides from a random repairs on powerbooks, all the mail in repairs I handle are ibooks with faulty logic boards (5-10 per week). MAcMall is a good company (same company as PCMall, PC Connection, etc), but there is 1 major advantage to buying direct from apple. The memory you purchase from Apple will be covered under your warrranty, and if you buy the Applecare Protection Plan, it will be covered for 3 years. Apple's warranty does NOT cover non-Apple memory chips, like the one from MacMall. There is a lot of memory manufacturers out there, and I know that MacMall is not using the high end stuff. If the memory from Macmall fails after 30 days, they don't replace it for free... The cost of replacing the chip will be more than the difference from just buying it from Apple in the first place. In the long run, you will save by purchasing directly from Apple. Also, if you receive a machine that is DOA (dead on arrival) or a "Lemon", it is a total pain to have it replace by MAcMall... Apple on the other hand, will replace it for you in the store. Their people will check you r machine and hand you a new computer. You have 10 days to have it replaced before they will just fix it. If you have any questions or problems, please feel free to PM/Email me. -drew
  24. My GF worked in the Oil For Food Program, directly under Benin Sevon, and didn't know what was going on...
  25. OK, first, I never said Martin sucked as a coach...in fact, I'm sure that he's a great coach, ok? I did say that the price was too high (IMO) for coaching by someone with as little experience as He had listed on the tunnelcoach website. The pricing on the tunnelcoach website also listed an hourly rate of $850. Both the pricing and the coaches profile have since been updated. People, there are schools for freeflying and tunnel and swooping and many other things popping up all over the place, but especially down in Florida. Please make sure that you research who you hire to coach you by speaking to people who are not swayed by relationships in this sport. That's all... I'm sorry if I offended anyone.
