Windsor is the coolest of the cool. When I had a hard opening that yanked my helmet off and jerked the bejeezus out of me at WFFC, he stopped everything he was doing and spent 45 minutes showing me how to pack that borrowed Sabre so it wouldn't spank me. He also pontificated extensively to me on many different issues of student training, gear selection, exit separation, etc. He incurred the wrath of a group of freefliers in an effort to get sufficient separation for an inexperienced group from Tent 4. Windsor is awesome. In fact, pretty much all the organizers in Tent 4 at WFFC (low-pressure dives) struck me as quality human beings with the best interests of skydiving and skydivers at heart. When should AFF instructor turn away from student
Jessica replied to pds's topic in Safety and Training
I don't remember learning about the ADD until after my FJC, but I must have been briefed on it and just forgotten it amid the more important information about saving my life and stuff. Sitting in on an FJC recently, I liked the way an instructor taught about the RSL (not an AAD, but another backup device not to be relied upon). He showed it to them, told them what it did, then told them not to rely on it. Then, to underscore his point, he told this (actually really funny) story about a guy at his old DZ who cutaway from a malfunction at 3K, then waited...and waited...and waited...then finally had a Cypres fire. Later, on the ground, they wanted to know what happened, and he told them he'd been waiting for his RSL to activate the reserve. "That must of been one long [expletive] RSL," the instructor told the FJC students. Skydiving is for cool people only -
I have no tent. This lack has allowed me to sleep with the likes of Freaksister and PhreeZone. Therefore I'm never getting one. Skydiving is for cool people only

I don't see skydives as dates. I'd completely expect to use my own ticket in that scenario. Skydiving is for cool people only

My thoughts exactly. I've had one friend actually make the jump -- he paid for the tandem, I bought him video as a present. He loved it so much he did his T-2 that same day. He'd love to continue, but can't afford it. That's one out probably 30 people who have told me they'd love to try it. Screw 'em. If they want to do it, they'll make the effort on their own, like I did. Skydiving is for cool people only

We both pay for our own. Unless he manages to sneakily pay for them and then won't let me pay him back.

I give this thread 3 minutes before Clay or someone posts about how there's nothing wrong with me; in fact I'm now the perfect woman! Skydiving is for cool people only

It sucks. I can't speak above a whisper. For some reason I want to spell "laryngitis" with an E. I've had it for a week. I can't talk on the phone or anything. Work is really embarassing because we do a lot of yelling across the room in a newsroom but now I have to run over to people and whisper to them. What's wrong with me? I'm not sick at all, I just can't talk. Skydiving is for cool people only

My (gay guy) friend and I speculate on the potential gayness of strangers by nudging each other and whispering, "Fabulous? Or not fabulous?" Skydiving is for cool people only

All these numbers are approximate. Give yourself a week to lie in bed and cry and eat potato chips and watch TV. Call in sick if you have to. Allow a month or two to miss him, where you want him back desperately and you can't understand why he did this. That'll morph into hate. Give that a month or two, but not any longer if you can help it. After that, the wound will have scabbed over, and you'll be on your way to healing. Good luck. I know you don't believe this now, but just from what I know of you through your posts, you're better off. A couple of other tips: Keep yourself busy if you can. Don't drink near a phone. Don't get in touch with him, don't take his calls. If you want to "be friends," there's time for that later. Hugs. Skydiving is for cool people only

Yep, but I think you can get it for significantly cheaper ($45ish) from a skydiving gear dealer like Para-Gear or Square One. Skydiving is for cool people only

Does freefly experience REALLY translate into RW skill?
Jessica replied to Jessica's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
"Freeflying will help your RW skills, but RW won't do shit for your freeflying." I've heard plenty of freeflyers declare this as an absolute truth, but to be perfectly honest, I get the feeling that it's a my-discipline-is-better-than-yours-type assertation. So here's a hypothetical: I have 200 jumps and I'm on a 4-way team. Then I abandon formation skydiving and spend the next 400 jumps doing nothing but sit-flying and head down. Then I re-join my 4-way team and we go out and do a jump. Are my skills as good as if I'd spent those 400 jumps on my belly? Or what? I'm looking for a way to translate this. I do understand it, and my conclusion is that you have embarassed the entire dz.com posting community with your childishness, and in front of the entire dz.com audience. I'm really appalled. Skydiving is for cool people only

Click up there under "forum rules." Some things will make you unpopular: 1) Spam 2) Mindless post whoring 3) Repeating yourself 4) Rudeness 5) SHOUTING I think you've violated No. 4 pretty damn bad in this thread, but maybe that's just me. Skydiving is for cool people only

It cuts the reserve closing loop, which releases the pin, which allows the pilot chute to deploy. That's it! Beautiful in its simplicity. Skydiving is for cool people only

What, I'm only allowed to have one special boy? I will not be stymied in such a manner! Is SDA where you jump? I should know after Friday if Erk and I will be out there. That'd be a party. Skydiving is for cool people only
