I'm an odd girl, prone to spaced-out periods. I've had people ask me if I'm high, and I don't smoke pot. I would be highly irritated to be cut from a load, or worse, branded a drug user, when I haven't been using. If I saw someone with a joint in his hand during the jump day, I'd avoid him or her. That's it. Of course, I wouldn't jump with someone I got a bad vibe off of, no matter if I saw him or her drinking or smoking or not. Skydiving is for cool people only -

Hey Spazz, I found this page on the PIA website that lists malfunction photos as PIA public documents. Then, in the PIA store, there is an item labeled XDOC, described as such: PIA DOCUMENTS All the Parachute Industry Association publications in a three-ring report folder. Included are the Bylaws, all the PIA Technical Standards, Technical Bulletins, SOP's and other documents: over 100 pages in all. A PIA Directory is also included. One copy of PIA DOCUMENTS is included with PIA Membership. Shipping: US - $7.50 Foreign air shipping - $10.00 From the description, it sounds like the malfunction photos are included. Unfortunately, it also looks like you have to join PIA to get them. Has anyone tried calling PIA to see if they really have these? This question pops up a lot. Skydiving is for cool people only

Drug testing for DZ Instructors/TMs/Pilots

I've been at a DZ where I saw a TM smoke up in the middle of the day (TM is not there anymore, don't know where he went). It's just not cool. While I wouldn't be willing to say it should be a universal rule, I don't have a problem with a DZ drug testing its employees. I had to have a drug test for my current job, which is just so they can say, "Our employees are drug-free!" There's no practical reason. Drug testing is not an uncommon practice even in jobs where it's not a safety issue. Skydiving is for cool people only -

Well, looks like it's going to be Skydive San Marcos (knock wood). The weather looks promising (knock wood) and I should be able to finish up my coach rating (knock wood), and it looks like some good jumping friends will be there (etc). I need a new kitchen table, and I was thinking about getting an unfinished one and painting it myself. It sounds kind of fun, and I thought it would be cheaper. Well, I went to the store, and they have just the table I want. But! I can actually get the already-stained-and-varnished floor demo for $50 less than a new, unfinished table. But painting the table sounded fun. But this already-finished table is really purty, and cheaper. Does anyone know anything about finishing furniture? Is it super hard?
