  1. It took a couple of viewings of House for me to accept it as something vaguely entertaining rather than the visual equivelent of a drugged horse rambling incoherently about cheese sandwiches. Zombie creates some really excellent characters in the Firefly family but then populates the rest of their world with boring crap. Which leads to interesting characters having to deal with boring crap. Which makes the movie boring crap but done with lots of different art student film techniques. House reminds me of a lot of geocities sites in the 90s. Lots of blink tags and animated Gifs by people that thought it looked cool. House was like a lot of disjointed bits and pieces and no real flow. Devils rejects is like a grownup movie that takes all the cool sick stuff and expands on it but with real movie making involved. I really liked it, even though its very similar in its "if you dont like this type of movie you'll hate it" feel to House. blahblahblahblah Watch it simply for the sick stuff. I'm a die hard horror movie fan and like these movies simply because they dont stick to the tried and true formula and instead opt fo that 70s style grit and realism that got lost in the special effects gorehound style the 80s spawned and the 90s refined til it wasnt even gross anymore. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  2. Basically: Otis and Baby's Excellent Adventure, with Capt Spalding as Socrates. However, it doesnt have the 'run around the mall to cool 80s guitar music' scene..... Oh wait. yes it does!..... kinda. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  3. From where, exactly, did you get this article? It doesnt matter. IF it's printed on the internet it must be true!!! TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  4. I dunno, at least it had some semblance of a plot rather than just goofy set pieces. My wife is currently obsessing on both movies. I think I've seen them both 3 times this weekend, plus all the DVD bonuses and (admittedly cool) Rob Zombie commentary. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  5. Looks like heart failure at this point. Eddie is one of the reasons I became a wrestler. He was an incredible talent and is a huge loss to the sport. He was a guy I had been waiting to meet, especially after Paul Bearer/Percy Pringle telling me last week how similar he and I were. I don't know what else to say at this point. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  6. This really isnt different than usual. The republicans have been excellent at leveraging their mailing lists and generating donations from the average voter whereas, ironically, the democrats being completely lost (as usual) depend on big ticket donors. Even more ironically - the big fuss about Dean was his initial grassroots internet campaign that raised funds over his rival's 'business as usual' money generators. 7. This thread makes my head hurt. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  8. Now, whats that whuffo thing again? More graphic??? No. More obscene, less wrestling yes? More pulling stuff out of peoples asses and screwing fake corpses? yes. But thats probably why no ones watching it anymore and WWE is making a bundle on Jake the Snake, Ric Flair, and superstars ofhte 80s DVD sets instead of their Tv. Of course, if only there was an alternative. As for injuries and weapons and blood, I could tell you all about it, but that would mean revealing The Secrets Of ProWrestling and that would get me disbarred from the Secret Brotherhood Of Professional Wrestlers, and I have shows this weekend. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  9. Hmm you mean like those lucky trolls? they're pretty small. Thats probably like a .80 wing loading. And they're magic, so of course they'd have special sizes. Sheesh. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  10. When I first moved here I was pretty much anti-firearms. Now I'm pretty much pro-firearms. Stupid me decided to live in MA. No firearms for me. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  11. I'm taking a geek standpoint. Unless you encrypt it and send it to me to decrypt it any communication on the intarweb is akin to a postcard. Thats why companies put those stupid disclaimers on the bottoms of their emails - because it supposedly locks you into respecting privacy. In fact, I can think of many websites that are threatened with legal action or recieve insulting private emails which they then publish in it's entirety and although they've been threatened have never been taken to court. Sorry, but there's just no case I can think of where the posting of private email has ever been actionable. Check out www.attrition.org's history of dealing with stupid legal threats, their posting them publicly. Or penny-arcades dealings with Jack Thompson - a highly litigious lawyer who was trying to sue the guys for harassment but didnt try to sue them for posting his communications online. People generally dont make stuff public because they do have personal moral codes. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  12. Yeah I like the Tomahawk stuff a lot, I find it a little more straightforward so it requires different ears to hear it. MB just has so much stuff thrown in there that even after a few thousand listens I still discover new fun weirdness in there. One day I will write an opera that ties Slowly Growing Deaf, Egg, Carousell and My Ass Is On Fire and have it performed by the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. 13. Woah, the entire thread disappeared and was beautifully hijacked. For me it would depend on the content and the poster. I've recieved a lot of PMs that were the same or worse and haven't yet felt the need to publicly post them. Mostly because regardless of what the poster said I respected their opinion - or simply blew it off as the ravings of a lunatic. From someone I didnt know and complete bollocks? It would probably depend on how funny I found it. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  14. If you aren't afraid of hardware it's no more difficult than a 3dimensional puzzle. Wiring up some of the bits is a little finicky but nothing horrendous. Ars Technica does a great guide for building one of three PCs (godbox, hot rod and budget) - and it's stuff that matters rather than the overly technical stuff you'll find on other sites about building your own. I put together my video/music editing workstation for about $900. newegg.com is a good place for parts, crucial does good RAM. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.

  16. Yeah. I'm not much of a completist so I didnt go hunting them down. PM me with your AIM sn tho :) California's excellent overall, but the other two are so freaking good it's a tough pick between them all. DV is so ridiculous and absurd that it's also total genius. 18. We have a winner. Today I hit another obsessive cycle of playing all 3 CDs back to back and over and over - in a week or two it'll pass and I'll remain convinced they were the greatest band of all time. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.
  19. yup, funny as hell too. For those scratching their heads............From the FAQ... "The story behind the song goes something like this: It was originally recorded without Trevor, and no one told him about it. He found a copy of it, and in response to its being kept a secret from him, he added the "old man" lyrics like, "I know the secret song now," and, "they kicked me out of the band." To add another dimension to the secret nature of the song, knowledge of the new lyrics was kept from Mike until shortly before the album was released." 20. So I hear. I find that amusing. If the US (in general) worships anything, it would be money, power, and image. Thanks Walt. Actually I find your view interesting. As an alien here I find both points to be absolutely correct. The "religious right" (whatever that is) has enough influence that it is very very visible. I find the religious environment in the US to be very overt and militant compared to those areas of Europe I've spent time in (Uk, Germany, Northern Italy) and discussions I have had while involved in the church (roughly a lifetime ago). The US is like a vinyl album thats multi-grooved, you can be standing next to someone thats hearing an entirely different song than the one that you found when you put the needle on the record. Which is one of the reasons I find America such a cool place to be. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.

  22. Maybe you missed that 2000+ page topic about Christianity where there were a significant number of Christians who were very vocal on their views about the existence of God and got a little upset when questions were asked about him. America is considered a Christian nation. Do Muslim societies look at us and make similar assumptions based on the limited exposure they have of the US (apparently so, at least thats what the terrorist recruiting propoganda claims is happening - Christians trying to destroy the Muslims in a holy war....remember the 'crusade' debacle at the start of the Iraq war?) The muslims I do know from the middle east (lebanese and iraqi shia muslims) talk about, and practice, their religion no more fanatically than most 'moderate' christians I know - in fact, from the evangelising on this forum from time to time - they are a great deal LESS scary and more open to discussing Islam and far more tolerant of assholes like me asking somewhat blasphemous questions about their beliefs. Extremists make the news, be they anti-abortion murderers, southern baptists boycotting disney or muslims who run around blowing shit up. Please dont think Im trying to draw an absolute parallel, I agree that Islamic countries do tend to have a more visible faith than US Christianity. However, I think US christianity is not a benchmark for all christianity. There are many christian countries where the faith is practiced as devoutly and a majority as you'll see Islam practiced in predominantly muslim countries. Just like US Christianity, there's a great deal of difference between a muslim society like Afghanistan under the Taliban and Indonesia. TV's got them images, TV's got them all, nothing's shocking.

  25. Just in case anyones thinking of doing this or similar. It is illegal to DoS a website. There are laws that cover it, it is not 'too new'. Please consider this before running off half cocked. There is no anonymity on the web. Unless you're good (or have a few thousand infected zombie PCs to do your bidding) you will get caught without too much trouble. Your ISP will not protect any imagined right to privacy you may think that you have. Secondly, most commercial biz sites aren't running on Tripod - in otherwords, a) most business sites do not have bandwidth caps, unless their really cheap. b) you run up their bandwidth you push up their bills OR c) you run up their bandwidth and Dos their site: either way you have cost them real $$$. Third, I can't speak for their particular site, but if someone could somehow impact my GigE pipe (in the 120 Mbs traffic my company site gets) from their home connection..(think about that for a few minutes - many hosting facilities use similar huge pipes out).....they trip alarms, pages get sent, firewall automagically blocks your access. In extreme cases we follow up with the ISP, run background checks and invite them out to lunch with the company lawyer in attendance. I then threaten to hit them with a chair.
