Ok, here it is. The first image is the saiga obviously, freshly converted and assembled. That was quite a bit of work! You have to assemble things in a very specific order, otherwise it doesn't fit. The tromix shepherd's crook is sort of a pain, but the worst was installing the spring for the bolt hold open, and then having to do it again because the safety selector wouldn't install with the BHO in place already. ugh. Like I said, you do things in order. Second image is the family kickin it, with the eldest on top, my most valued firearm, a winchester 30-30 lever action that was purchased by my great grandfather in the 20's. It has stayed in the family all this time, and is still in good shape, except for some wearing on the bluing. It has a factory peep site, which is supposedly very rare for these rifles. Next up is a metric FAL, it is a Imbel kit built onto a Entreprise type 3 receiver. Full length chrome barrel, with a home parkerizing job. I believe the kit was from a gun originally made in the 60s, in Brazil (headquarters for Imbel). And of course, the new saiga, freshly made in November of 2008. Hope you guys enjoy

The oem one. Let me grab my camera, I got some pictures to show you fellas! Edit to add, I drilled a new hole in the receiver to accept the bolt for the front of the trigger guard.
-
Its not the force of the spring compressing the round against the top of the magazine that deforms it, but the very top round pressing against the underside of the bolt that deforms it. Keep the bolt in the rearward position, and it is not a problem. From what I heard, it takes 24 hours to deform the round. I am in the middle of my conversion, trying to figure out this stupid trigger guard. Just realized that my gun does not have the standard 4 rivet ak magazine release. Ugh.

Whoo hoo, I love sv-650s, they are sweet, my brother has one and I ride it fairly often. Probably going to buy one before long. The V-stroms are also very very cool. Both bikes are going to be similar in weight to what you have though, and if I knew for sure I was going to be doing short distance commutes, I would sacrifice top speed for lighter weight. That is why I was suggesting the motard. The ninja 250s just recently were redesigned, I would stick with the older design simply because of the availability of parts, they made a TON of them over the years. It will feel like a light weight version of your bike, with lots less power though. The big single cylinder bikes will actually make more torque right off the get go than yours, but the 4 cylinders will quickly produce more hp. If you are doing stop and go or slow speed though, bottom end torque and light weight are where the fun is!

Nice bird! Cool looking house too btw. Throw some stain on it before over-ventilation becomes an issue though
-
This is the exact issue. The R6 and CBR are built for high speed turns, like 80mph+. You are not going to enjoy commuting with them, they are not particularly comfortable. Your FZR is built for more moderate speeds, making it more comfortable and easier to ride. You commute sounds perfect for a motard style bike, such as the DRZ400. They are dirt bikes, that have different rims and street tires, along with suspension tuned for the street. They handle average freeway speeds just fine, but are really made for around town fun. http://www.bikebros.co.jp/images/wallpaper/daytona/suzuki_drz400_1024.jpg

I'm going on a vacation this weekend! We have two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a saltshaker half-full of cocaine, and a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers... Also, a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether, and two dozen amyls. Not that we need all that for the trip, but once you get locked into a serious drug collection, the tendency is to push it as far as you can. The only thing that really worries me is the ether. There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge, and I know we'll get into that rotten stuff pretty soon.

You are correct sir. It is unfortunate, but California bans detachable magazine shotguns directly, even if they are in stock form (sporting) which means no pistol grip. That black contraption covers the magazine release, such that it can only be operated with a "tool". Tool is defined as pretty much anything, and they specifically call a bullet a tool. The whole purpose is to prevent rapid magazine changes. I will add however, that the "bullet button" as they are referred to here, can be removed in no time, if one was so inclined, such as going on a murderous rampage. Last night I ordered all the parts I need to convert it to a pistol grip, and so I will need to take the bullet button off and build a new one that is smaller and fits between the trigger guard's new forward location and the magazine. (FBI if you are reading this, its a good thing gun will be disassembled when I remove the lock, and in no way will be able to accept a detachable magazine)

We do have some pheasant, however most of the spots around here are hunting clubs that release the birds, not a whole lot of natural ones. The whole reason I got my hunting license is because of a trip I took with my friend to north dakota, you would not believe the number of pheasant there. They are just EVERYWHERE. His house is right in the middle of the #1 pheasant spot in America, I would bet. The meat is so delicious as well, my friend's family is german and they cook it up with mashed potatoes and sour gravy, I can honestly say it is my favorite food ever. EVER. I also got to try walleye (the fish) for the first time, and it is now my favorite fish. Who would have thought hunting (fishing) could provide such excellent food. I think my hunting motives are more pure now than most, its just for the good food.
-
Shit they got em over at the supermarket, why all the effort? Just kiddin, congrats on your kill. I just got my hunting license and have yet to make good on it, however I have been trying to get a pig. Pheasant are going to be hurting in the near future as well.

Yeah it does have a cool look to it. That massive chunk of metal behind the magazine compliments of the state of california doesn't help though. I should probably put a handful of rounds through it before I rip it apart and let the metal shavings fly.
-
Well, it finally arrived. Taking his balls took quite some time, and it is sad to see the guy in such a condition. A well hung pistol grip should help the self esteem though! Getting ready for a conversion.....

What is the difference between a golfer and a skydiver? The golfer goes whack, "Shit!" The skydiver goes "Shit!" whack!

Sweet! What are some of the cheaper rc rocket gliders? I don't have high power, so 29mm max, but have all the micro servos and whatnot already.
-
Probably got one of those carbon fiber bottles off of ebay second hand, that had been dropped once or twice. Scary.
-
Shit, all you need is a pair of the cylinders and a block of aluminum and you could have this bad ass engine. http://thekneeslider.com/archives/2008/07/09/gunbus-410-cubic-inch-v-twin-motorcycle-completed/
-
Sweet! What kind of engine/size are you thinking about?
-
You mean 18mm. With composites, you can get up to a D sized motor, might as well! It's probably going to be a one time flight.
-
What diameter motor? I had a glider rocket awhile back. 5ft above launch it made a 90 degree turn and ended up partway inside of a tree. Later estees recalled the kit. Ha!

Simple is good. When I mount a red dot on my FAL I was told I would probably have to alter the ejector. Here is a website talking about modifying it, maybe it will apply to the M1 as well. http://community-1.webtv.net/ggiilliiee/FALRIFLEEJECTOR/

This website is the shit for finding cheap cruises. I figured I could get a cruise to mexico for rock bottom prices due to the whole sickness thing, but they must have canceled them, because there are not many. We went on a carnival cruise, and it was cool. Lots of drinking going on. Hey the secret about getting booze on board is that they allow you to bring one wine bottle, so what you do is make it a red wine, drink the wine, refill with 151 and re cork it. They don't check it that much so its easy. We had a casino and club on our boat, so there was lots going on. I would check out the late night activity list to see if its an old people cruise or not. Have fun!
-
I have seen people tuning their ejectors to prevent kissing any optics, wonder if you could do the same but instead of aiming it down, you would be going to the rear. I have also seen brass catcher bags that fit over the ejection port. Cool way of recycling roadside junk and turning it into something useful though.

Skydivers Annoy neighbors - Press clipping
LongWayToFall replied to PhreeZone's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Near where I live is part of the landing pattern for SFO, and lots of neighbors complain about the noise. The city council requested to either FAA or SFO, to change the pattern but it hasn't happened. Wouldn't the FAA be in charge, at least partially, for changing the pattern? It would sure require their help to change the landing beacon. -
RIGGERS: Suggested training for Vigil customers
LongWayToFall replied to tdog's topic in Gear and Rigging
Is it possible to run the battery out before the 4 year point, if you manually turned it on and off, say once per day?
