Now, you're gonna get a spankin. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

I had a police officer caution me once as he was beating the shit out me with a billy club and explaining the error of my ways. Is it anything like that? Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

Skydiving as teambuilding in business
BIGUN replied to grlsgotalot2lrn's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Exactly. You're confident and well-mastered in the subject enough to not have to rely on a crutch. I've seen you be persuasive on here. Even though its through another form of medium., it's you talking directly with us; not attaching a .ppt with bullets. I'm a big fan of Dr. Ernest Bormann http://www.vayne.com/bormann.us In 1992, I wrote a dissenting paper on Leadership Theories and was invited to defend it at the University of Oklahoma Comunications Conference. Dr. Bormann was my source for a lot of the paper. He helped me personally over the phone with some points I was trying to get across. Now, talk about persuasion. Going up to defend a paper before a board of PhD's who've been studying persuasion all their lives; stand before the panel with nothing but words and persuade them that [their] studies on leadership theory were wrong. Four hours of debate. YeeHAW! We got us a rodeo! Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. -

Skydiving as teambuilding in business
BIGUN replied to grlsgotalot2lrn's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I got tired of them in the business environment first. Every meeting, EVERYONE giving a powerpoint. Some folks took more time working the presentation intead of giving it. PPT is a crutch in a persuasive speech. Informational Presentation - yes, I get it. Persuasion... uh uh. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. -

LOTS of good advice on here from everyone. The video montage of skydiving beauty is excellent. Please let us know how it went? Really, I hope you do well... It's the most important speech you can learn to give for your entire career, no matter what chosen vocation. GO GET 'EM. C'mon, handsome... You know you'd look good doing that little hip wiggle thing while putting them on.. I just dig watching the ladies do that "pantyhose dance." Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

I can see one of us now... First hand... 2/5 off suit. ALL IN!!! WooHOO!!! I lost!!! Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. -
First, I like your style. Unfortunately, that'll get those "defending" the troops in more deep kempshi than those doing the protesting... Speaking of kempshi... Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

Their mistake is calling it "pantyhose" and using the female sexy legs pose thing. If they revamped the ad to a skydiver putting them on with a snowy background and called them the latest in thin polar something.... we'd probably all be wearing them. Skydiving as teambuilding in business

Please, oh please, oh please - heed my words, child. Do not use a .ppt presentation. As a former professor of communications; it got to the point where I promised one full letter grade drop for anyone who crossed the door with a .ppt presentation. First, you get tired of seeing the same venue, then you grow very wary of those who can't keep pace with their own presentation. There are those who puke every word into the .ppt and think, "Ta Da; I have communicated!!" And, my favorite. the stumble bum who can't hook it up to an InFocus and it takes 18 students to assist (cause now we have a challenge of who's the MOST technical in the class) You have 3 seconds to capture their attention, mesmerize them, astound them and be passionate in your convictions to be persuasive. How do you get that in a .ppt? Here is the key to a persuasive speech: It's just like sex. IF you can make the guys' peckers hard and the womens' pussies wet at the same time; you've got 'em. Yes, I said that in class - but, it was much cleaner. Feel free to PM to bounce ideas. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard. -
Bump and update; Tahlequah days: Curly Roe has retired and is living in Florida playing with the grandkids (my first JM). Pete Morris ( the guy who signed my "A" license in 1982 and friend) has recently completed 7,000 jumps and after 30 years has hung it up. Bob Scheimeier is still actively jumping into bar doors, Bob Clark can be found on the accuracy circuit. Bill Campbell ( first guy to ground me for low pull contests) is flying 737's and jumping big ways on occasion, Mike Sisemore has done well for himself in real estate. Greg Gerondale went on to win the 1998 Gold Medal in Accuracy; does AFF & tandems and is still making power tools... And, Kenny Hills has returned to Australia where he lives somewhere in peaceful normalcy. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

Ya know... I got to thinking about that last night after writing this... it would need to be 4 digits wouldn't it? Those months with three could be preceded by a zero.. Course we know 3 will fit on the seal, whereas 4 may not... Eule may be on to something. Open thoughts here... keep 'em coming Regarding the six month cycle response... If folks are pencil whipping 120 days, what's to prevent them from pencil-whipping 180?, then a rigger wouldn't checking out their rig but once a year or year and a half for the real transgressions. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
-
I've wondered how come someone hasn't invented a seal with the riggers three characters on one side and a rolling three digit number on the other... So one side would have the "XYZ" rigger identifier and the other would be the M/DD packed. 610 would be June 10; 805 would be August 5th and so on... How hard would that be to do? Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
-
See... Here's an example of where an S&TA could use more teeth. Rigger takes the offender to the S&TA, S&TA suspends the offenders' USPA License for 30 days for first offense, 60 days for second offense, 1 year for third offense. If it's an Instructor - double it. Thoughts? Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

At both the AFF/I & TI course, the CD's went thru my logbooks - even with the Gold Wings badge in the book. The first section of each rating in the IRM specifies the requirements for attendance (i.e., 500 RAM air jumps, six hours of freefall time, etc.) It may be CD specific, but I was told in the pre-course for both to make sure everything was signed and those CD's did check. It's better to have it and not need it; than not have it and need it. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
