  1. Read it again, John. It wasn't about revealing dishonesty, it was about flogging that horse a 288th time. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  2. Please let's not go down this path of negativity regarding SLV again. It's been done at least 287 times already and reflects more on you than it does on their marketing program. Let it go. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  3. Curbing "Let's get a mop." Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  4. Understood. Brain lock has resulted in more than one "oh shit" skydiving moment. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  5. It's going to take awhile. Ya know, I've kinda stepped away from the Instructor role a bit this year due to work commitments, but teach on occasion when in town. I was out at the DZ yesterday and saw at least three novice skydivers do a butt sldie instead of runnning it out or taking the PLF. One of them could have taken a couple of running steps and been done with it. I'm not sure when or why butt-slides became the alternate landing method of choice, but I just cringe evvery time I see someone lifting their feet in the air to land. Don't know your specific situation as to why your tailbone was bruised or broken, but if a landing is the case, perhaps you could be a walking testimonial as to "why" butt slides are not a good choice. 6. Congratulations! Now, go out and surround yourself with the finest group of E-7s & E-8s you can find, give them a mission, turn them loose and stay outta their way! Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  7. The following is an article by the "Federation for American Immigration Reform" (FAIR): http://www.fairus.org/site/PageServer?pagename=research_research3327 Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  8. From my persepctive, you answered the question. Tell them the skydiver didn't initiate the proper procedures to save their own life. If we extend your point out one level from, "I've seen adults have an awful time handling skydiving fatalities;" wouldn't that beg the question if children should be on the DZ at all? Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  9. I don't care about their age as much as I care about their pack job. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

    Plane crashed

I was in the plane last summer when Cathy made her "first" skydiver load as a pilot. If you should speak with her, please tell her I hope she's OK. Yes, the Fire Department is literally a hundred yards away from her hangar and just off the field. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  11. I've been thinking about this since Tom's thread and I can kinda see the S/L working on an Otter. I guess it's no different than a poised exit off the 182, just on a different side. I do know that I'd have someone experienced show me before I did one myself. I do have one question - is it necessary to duct tape the door frame or just run your hands down it to ensure there's no nicks? Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  12. Age is only in your their mind. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  13. Why would one do IAD -S/L out of a PAC, King Air or Otter? IMO, the instructional methodology should fit the A/C. Personally, I would fit the IAD - S/L method to C-182's, but think it would be an easy and safer sell for AFF or AFP for PACs, King Airs or Otters. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  14. Shit, I got a bloody nose with a full face on a Mr. Bill. I think it's just part of the dive flow. :) Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  15. Just got off a Continental Flight last night. Love 'em. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  16. Since the thread title is "Camera People," wonder how many people knew Mike Sisemore in Oklahoma who used to jump one of the ABC Wide World of Sports cameras on his helmet (circa late 70's - early 80's)... Mike had to finally give up skydiving around 1983 as the camera had blown his neck and knees out. About every two years, Mike has an "Old Skydivers" reunion at his place on the lake that we jump into Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  17. At the gym, there is a pull down bar attached to a cable which is attached to weights that one can pull down from over your head to your waist. About 30 lbs, ten reps, three times a week oughta get it. If a gym is outta the question - there's a tree, a rafter, or sumpin around your house you can do pullups on (hands facing out); about 6 reps three times a week oughta get it. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  18. Some have interpreted the questions regarding the FAR's as "odd" questions on the test... People have a tendency to _skim_ the section on FAR's and not learn it. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  19. Going to add: Prior to pulling the pullup cord out of the closing loop; route it under the closing pin to place any friction on the closing pin rather than the closing loop. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  20. That's why the smiley face, Bro... While Bill has been at SkyFest... he "let" a couple of marginals go... It's about the fun more than the rules.... Gotta love him for it. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  21. Ummmm... Rule Breakers!! I'm telling Bill. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  22. Well, that's one ugly crew to have to spend pictures with for the rest of your life. Sorry I couldn't be there to add some big handsomeness to the jump. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  23. One does not need to be a member of USPA to be an SCR, SCS, etc. Recipient. Any skydivers on the planet can make the dive, submit the application (with membership funds). As you'll find on the website Steve provided - it's one of the longest standing awards skydivers can make. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
