  1. Thanks for the info. Understood everything you said regarding pix resolution & sizing... they can be cahnged from 72 dpi back to 300, but has a tendency to be grainy. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  2. Shit, there's only four skydivers and two SF guys I'd trust in my house. (j/k) I think it's a good idea. I travel an inordinate amount during the week and stay in hotels from Washington State to Florida. It'd be nice if I could know which DZ's would charge me nothing, ten, twenty, thirty, etc. for a night's accomodation during the week. Even if there's only a few skydivers around or even none, Let me use the DZ lounge to watch tube or if they have a WAP so I could get some work done in the evenings... 3. Howard would it be aright to use this pic for an upcoming article this fall or spring in USPA? I would of course give you a "photo provided by:" Keith Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  4. 1/2 part greed, 1/2 part power. Stir with a large wisk. Let bake for 30 minutes. And, it will change the best of men. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  5. You have some of the finest Instructors on the planet. As long as they haven't given up on you, don't give up on yourself. Using a grease pencil; write this on the mirror in your bathroom. If you ever lose that "heart and desire," you'll know the day you decide to wipe it off there. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  6. Fuck 'em. It's better to try and fail; than to not try and succeed. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  7. It's not about the "YouTube crowd;" it's about an additional format where average people have for the first time in a long time had an opportunity to ask questions directly to a candidate. I blame CNN for allowing some of the stupid shit (well perhaps greater than 50%) when you know there had to be a lot better quality of questions out of the some 60,000 uploads. I think the YouTube format is/could be a good one and enjoy the university open-mikes. The canned journalist, read the question before the debate formats are canned. We keep asking for change from both sides od the aisle, but then are resistant to any form of change process that "might" give us those results. 8. I'm neither a kook nor left. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  9. I did watch the whole thing and agree with you that some of the questions were, "OK, how'd you get past the screeners?" But, for the most part, I do view it as a good supplement to the standard debate format (not in lieu of). Let's mix it up. I want to see how they "think on thier feet." So, how long before we see Max running for Congress or sumpin? Ever thought about it? Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  10. Sheesh... Guiliani may be opting out too. What're you guys thinking?!?!?! http://www.newsday.com/news/elections/ny-usrudy0728,0,6331768.story?coll=ny-top-headlines Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  11. http://blog.washingtonpost.com/the-trail/2007/07/27/romney_will_skipyoutube_forum.html Personally, I think the YouTube debate was a great idea. The voting people asking the questions, rather than Journalists preparing the questions and the candidates getting to review them to formulate a canned response. Sumpin about "We the People" comes to mind. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

    Tipping

I'm one of those AFFI is referring to that is adament about not taking a tip, but do not make a living in skydiving. Since previous discussions on the matter with my peers.... When offered a tip will now re-direct and introduce the tipper to the tandem packer. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  14. Bill Mitchell xame back to work at Channel 8 after traveling around for some years. I didn't think about him till you said that. HE unterviewed me about a year ago. I need to give him a call. He's prolly the one who gave Kent the camera. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  15. A number of techniques are used to predict the amplitude of a cycle during the time near and before solar flare minimum. Relationships have been found between the size of the next cycle maximum and the length of the previous cycle, the level of activity at solar flare minimum, and the size of the previous cycle. Among the most reliable techniques are those that use the measurements of changes in the Earth's magnetic field at, and before, solar flare inimum. These changes in the Earth's magnetic field are known to be caused by solar storms but the precise connections between them and future solar activity levels is still uncertain. Geophysicists in Finland and Germany have calculated that the Sun is more magnetically active now than it has been for over a 1000 years. Ilya Usoskin and colleagues at the University of Oulu and the Max-Planck Institute for Aeronomy say that their technique – which relies on a radioactive dating technique - is the first direct quantitative reconstruction of solar activity based on physical, rather than statistical, models (I G Usoskin et al. 2003 Phys. Rev. Lett. 91 211101) Solar activity is produced by magnetic activity inside the Sun. The more active the Sun is, the more solar activity produced. Observations of sunspots and flares began in 1610 – soon after the telescope was invented. Now, Usoskin and co-workers have used the concentration of beryllium-10 as a proxy for historic levels of solar activity. Beryllium-10 is produced when cosmic rays interact with particles in the Earth’s atmosphere. The radioisotope then falls to the ground at a much faster rate. The upcoming peak for this heightened activity will crest in 2010 and is my theory for why the number of skydivers are declining. 16. WooHOOO!! Way to go!!!!!!! Dear God, you trusted your life to them guys?!?!?! Them CRW dogs will suck up to you any way they can to get more dogs to jump with them - don't believe them. Wait until about November to do your SCR ceremony... Congrats on all your accomplishments!!! Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  17. Before I did Valsalva, antihistmines, decongestants, ect., I'd have a doctor check it out. Yes, some skydivers do take antihistimines, but some have drowsy side-effects to be considered. Your doctor may be able to help you with the right choice. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

    Rubber band balls

Perhaps you could help me understand how on a no-wind day; there's more altitude loss from a left hand pattern than a right? Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  20. Jack, I'm having a little trouble visualizing your suggestion. Is what you're suggesting different than the button on the top right corner of any thread that allows you to view in the flat or threaded mode or the numerous viewing choices you can make in Edit Profile\Display Settings? Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  21. You're f*cking the wrong guy. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

  23. And, the FAR's don't require a USPA License; "holds a MASTER PARACHUTE LICENSE issued by an organization recognized by the FAA." Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  24. You've probably already reviewed the IRM. If you still have questions, contact Jim Crouch by email: safety _A_T_ uspa.org. He's the one who's given me guidance with Mule's transition from S/L to IAD. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  25. Therein lies the problem. Everyone has the ability to learn the 3 dimensional aspects of space, but use of the radio gives the Instructor permission not to spend the time teaching it. DIsagree. Give the students more knowledge and therefore reduce their potential for risk of injury. I would contend that not training the students to handle the situation without a radio could be considered gross negligence. Using your argument, would an Instructor be grossly negligent if a radio failed for any reason and the student were seriously injured or killed? Why not? Where was the backup radio? We have a backup parachute; why not a backup radio if it's that important? I learned some good philsophies where you work for one of my ratings and have nothing but respect for the staff there. However, you've learned "a" philosophy for training students safely. I'd like the opportunity to show you another philosophy. You and I share a lot of passion for training and agree on a lot of points. Some from your showing me your training methodologies and some from the written word. I would ask that before you totally refute my point, you give me the opportunity to have you sit in on a non-radio FJC and watch the students perform under canopy. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
