  1. You should have this discussion with your Instructors. We can't help you with this decision - haven't seen your canopy skills. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  2. Correct. At some DZ's, the rental is included in the price per jump. It's best to check with your DZ for a pricing schedule for each jump towards your "A" license. The following hyperlink are the categories you'll need to progress through (and a minimum of 25 jumps) to achieve the "A" license. http://www.uspa.org/publications/SIM/2008SIM/section4.htm Please fill out your profile. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  3. Shropshire is correct. One may use use a semicolon between items in a series... Another example: I've been to boogies in Tulsa, Oklahoma; Dallas, Texas; Quincy, Illinois; Rosharon, Texas and Eloy, Arizona. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  4. This price is probably just for your first seven jumps and does not include any cost per jump should one or two of them need repeating, nor does it get you your "A" License which is usually in the neighborhood of 3K with coaching, gear rental, etc. Once off student status (having achieved the "A" License), THEN you're looking at buying gear in the range of 3-5K. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  5. Teamwork and camaraderie should not stop just because we landed on the ground. I've spent many an afternoon helping find someone's chopped canopy with no expectation of anything in return. It was my choice to help a fellow skydiver find an expensive piece of gear. I would hope that the favor would be returned when it is my turn for assistance. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  6. It won't be long before you'll start receiving the AARP applications in the mail. Those'll make your friggin day. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  7. It "can" be a good/great place to buy used gear. Unfortunately, there was a time when one could trust their fellow skydivers to do the right thing if you sent money or a rig and the transaction went smoothly between the independent parties. There have been several instances of it not working out that way on occasion and skydivers have been burned. The best way to ensure that both parties have a successful transaction these days is to agree on a third-party escrow service to act as intermediary for the transaction. Find a rigger/DZO/Gear Dealer/S&TA to act as escrow agent. Have the rig sent there by the selling party and the buying party takes/sends the money to the escrow agent. The escrow agent holds on to both both until acceptance where the money is released to the seller or unless the rig is not accepted; then the escrow agent returns the rig to the seller and the money to the buyer. The buyer and seller should write a purchase agreement defining the terms & conditions of the sale for the escrow agent (duration for inspection, who pays shipping if accepted, who pays if shipping if rejected, who pays the escrow agent's fee, how that fee will be paid, etc.). Treat the transaction no different than you would the purchase of a vehicle. It's a business transaction, not a friend deal. Finally, be sure there is a Bill of Sale listing the seller to buyer including all serial numbers from the transaction. 8. Sorry I brought up the suggestion. You may go back to your regularly scheduled programming. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  9. Well, hopefully the DZO could have a meeting to deploy the new pricing to communicate what the DZ is going to do for the TI's and why with the expectation; the TI's - as professionals; share the Anvil Loads. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  10. It allows for greater pay per tandem and compensates them appropriately across the board. 720 tandems per annum @ $45.00 each; assume 80 @ an extra 20lbs - $20.00 - $1600/year or 800 tandems per annum @ $55.00 each is an $8,000.00/annum. A $6,400 risk compensation package increase. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  11. I understand your comment, Bill. The proposition would satisfy both. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  12. I understand what you're saying... But some _one_ someplace started with the $1.00 per lb over program and then everyone else thought it a good idea and now most do it. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  13. IMHO...It's always been a dumbshit program to add X number of dollars to those over 200 lbs. If you want to maximize profits on a tandem, calculate the total max weight the tandem can hold and charge everyone the same price... then the majority of the population (not the Anvil Brothers) that makes the single tandem has a lower effect on Cost of Sales; your Gross Profit & Net Income increase overall. Same thing for the airlines. Remove everything. Calculate max weight per seat with one bag not to exceed 50 lbs period - charge everyone same rate. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  14. That's no longer true. In fact, the options increase almost daily with regard to main & H/C, with the limiting factor being the reserve max... Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  15. "Democratic Party officials yesterday restored Florida and Michigan's disputed delegates but gave them only a half-vote each..." But the ruling was to give Mrs. Clinton 69 and Mr. Obama 59 delegates, each with a half vote. http://washingtontimes.com/news/2008/jun/01/delegates-get-split-decision/ "Democrats warned Republicans not to misread yesterday's raucous rules panel meeting over Florida and Michigan delegations, pointing to the number of people willing "to give up their weekend" to attend the panel and what that boded for fall." [Its gonna be a looooooong summer] Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  16. So you retired as an LEO. I fail to understand how that equates to your not participating on dz.com anymore? Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  17. Bro, You are being WAY too hard on yourself. You've a whole 33 minutes invested in mastering this sport. Give it some time and follow Phreezone's suggestion of jumping with those that have a couple hundred more jumps than you and they'll help you out with some free coaching after the jump. Give it some time, man... you'll get there. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  18. Ummmm... been meaning to talk to you for awhile about that Halloween party where ya gots a little smashed, Bro. The guy in the wookie suit is still trying to figure out... Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.

  20. shhhh... don't confuse him.... Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  21. Airborne, What the other poster's have said is true. What matters is that your Instructor's are USPA rated in their training discipline. The USPA Group Member DZ program has nothing to do with your getting your rating - it gives the DZ some added value, but some choose not to participate. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  22. Avon Skin-So-Soft Original Lotion [as a Bug Repellent] Just the plain 'ol original; it's better than their bug repellent brand (they changed something when they did that). It's the best mosquito, bug, tick, flea and CHIGGER repellent on the planet. If you're staying in a tent - it's a must. Mostly around your ankles, crotch, armpits. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  23. Years ago I blah, blah, blah'd... Now, I just seem to sort of blah. It was begging to be done and someone had to do it. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
  24. I am aggressive regressive-connected. Was in a position of _having_ to be hyper-connected to throttling back to just send me an email if you're attaching work-related documents or information that does not need my attention until evening or the next day. If you need something sooner, pick up the phone, call me and let's discuss it. I found myself being so connected that work-product wasn't getting done during work hours and I wound up spending my evenings and part of my weekends generating work. Trying to create a culture in our organization of managing the business, rather than managing emails. Nobody has time to listen; because they're desperately chasing the need of being heard.
