Huh? You got no poor folks in Canada?

I don't know if he was a flaming butthole before his purchase of X or if it just amplified it. About four weeks after the purchase and seeing him get a case of twitter thumbs, Dm'd him and suggested he hire an X CEO and go back to saving the planet and exploring new worlds - where he does his best work. Eventually, the noise on X got so bad that I deleted my account. I sometimes wonder if he's on some type of Howard Hughes path. Hopefully not and all he needs is a good vacation. I still admire the man, but wish he would re-focus on the core technologies that will benefit the planet. ~just one man's opinion.

Damn - you guys are good. Nothing like having the knowledge of the universe in your hands.
-
LMAO - Leave it to you to find something, Bill.

Would you have a book we can reference?

A four lb loss = 1 inch. Proper diet and some exercise will lose that in one week. You got two. Quit worrying and get busy.
-
Not really. And, I'm kinda with TK on this one. Multitudes of scholars can recite the history, but not the solution.
-
My bad. My brain typed a 1,000 but my hands typed 10,000

Most on both sides of this coin will only point back to 1948, some go back to the Balfour Agreement, but most will not explore the history of conflict between Palestine & Israel for some 10,000 years.

Nuclear power safety (was - argument in the Woke thread)
BIGUN replied to billvon's topic in Speakers Corner
Apologies, I took the thread off-track. -
I had not, Jerry. Thanks for sharing it. On the watch list now. You were the one to peak my interest on it.
-
Based on another thread - Again, we need to reduce the number of us humans on this Earth of ours. My interest was peaked a couple of years ago by this. According to Dean Spears PhD, "It will begin an unprecedented decline ... If the world’s fertility rate [after 2100] were the same as in the United States today, then the global population would fall from a peak of around 10 billion to [less than] 2 billion about 300 years later, over perhaps 10 generations. And if family sizes remained small, we would continue declining.” Dr. Spears is an economic demographer. The author of the article posed - Will this decline come a century too late to avert the consequences of global warming? Thoughts? https://www.bloomberg.com/opinion/articles/2024-03-10/global-population-collapse-isn-t-sci-fi-anymore-niall-ferguson

Nuclear power safety (was - argument in the Woke thread)
BIGUN replied to billvon's topic in Speakers Corner
It may be long, Bill. but it's a very informative read. Thank you. -
Joe, I found a mask that not only keeps people at a distance, but makes them run in the opposite direction - for your consideration -
-
She didn't engage in argumentum ad hominem - you did.
-
You're mistaken. The materials and the elastic bands used in the mask can degrade over time, making the mask's ability to filter out particles decrease as it ages. The truth is expired N95 masks may still provide some level of protection, but the mask's ability to protect is greatly reduced as the filter media becomes clogged with particulate, the mask's elastic bands may lose their elasticity, making it less secure on the face and less effective at preventing the inhalation of harmful particles. And so, it is highly recommended that you just discard them once they reach that date. That is all - it's your choice Mr. Cain.
-
KN95 masks have a 3-5 year shelf life - their expiry date is on the box.

I didn't say that. Analogies or comparisons that relate to Hitler are known as Nazi analogies or Nazi comparisons. It's inflammatory and becomes a perpetual camel spitting contest - even if you don't say Nazi. Association is a verbal communication technique that links a message to something that a person already does or does not value, does or does not trust, likes or dislikes, such as a concept, person, brand, or benefit. It's most common in persuasive communications and plays on emotions, rather than facts.
-
I have to agree with TK on this point. Taking a broad stroke labeling approach only serves to create emotion and loses an opportunity to educate. "Nazi" just turns into a camel spitting contest.

Ummm... kinda not the guy to put on a pedestal for training dogs.
