  1. I don't want people who are unfamiliar with my gear monkeying around with it. I check my gear before I put it on, and get a gear check from someone I trust on the ground. Once we are in the c-182, I don't like to moving around too much, so I won't ask for a pin check unless I feel I may have have rubbed my container in a way that could move one of my pins.
  2. cypres only gets the reserve out -- there are no guarantees you won't crash into the side of a building, hit powerlines, land on a road an get smushed by a car, etc... I think it's dangerous to think you can't be mortally wounded if you fly with an AAD
  3. Yes, I do! Some of the funniest stuff ever on tv!
  4. Just one small point ... Dan is from Ottawa, Ontario, born on Canada Day in 1952 ... He's about as American as apple pie, basevball, and basketball ... I bet he doesn't give a rat's ass about it all!

    Shitty Day....

Wow, that really sucks... I hope things don't get ugly for ya...
  6. Just one question, Will -- who's spotting???
  7. Ya, but what if he's correct...?
  8. Hope yer recovery is painless and quick, Andy... at least ya didn't break it *during* a skydive!
  9. I'm with you, Chickenhawk420!
  10. I think most people will attribute an experience they can't explain to something they are familiar with. An experience that one person might credit to ghosts could be credited to aliens by a ufo buff... a relilgious person might use the term "miracle" when a person who is very ill has a recovery that can't be e xplained by the medical community. My wife and I shared an "unexplained experience" in the house where my grandmother used to live. My dad figured it was his Mom's ghost. We had been awoken by an excruciatingly bright light shinging out of our bedroom closet... aliens? an angel?? a ghost??? Who know?!? Maybe it was ball lightning ... I was overwhelmed by the experience, and began crying like a little baby. Even to this day (this happened 15 years ago), my wife and I have no idea just what happened that night... but it happened to both of us, so we know it wasn't a dream!
  11. I seen as many as 10 bald eagles in the air when I'm under canopy -- flown over a nest with big momma in it ... but never had any problems with sharing airspace.

    It's Brazil!

How 'bout a "spoiler" warning next time , Bossman ... no point in watching my tape now... oh well -- I think everyone (but the Germans) knew it was gonna end like this anyway!

    Near miss

Well that is too bizarre... I'm glad Peter is here to tell the story! I could hear, but couldn't see the video???
  14. I believe that each of us is entitled to our own beliefs... but when any religous perspective is imposed on others, that is wrong.
  15. I think it was about 6 or 7 jumps... Looking back, I remember that I had no visual record of those first moments after exiting the plane for about the first few jumps ...
  16. We had a thread about just this topic a little while ago ... I can't imagine how bizarre it must be for this to happen ... thanks goodness the skydiver survived.
  17. It's difficult to escape the tentacles of religion ... at the ballpark during closing ceremonies for all the kids last weekend, the Little League pledge included the phrase "I trust in God..." If you are a believer, that's your choice, but I would suggest there should be no reference to any religion in a public place. Sports, schools, and every other place where all members of society are invited to gather should be free from religion. I fully agree with your courts ruling.
  18. Kelly, were you and dove getting' nekid? We want the pix!!!
  19. I hope he has a full and speedy recovery... and that you stay strong for him throughout...
  20. Well we have the beautiful Pacific Ocean in 3 directions, snowcapped mountains in 4 directions, west coast forests, farmland, lakes, hundreds of small islands, villages, a city of 300,000 ... the fellow from Texas who jumped here a few weeks back, who has jumped all over North America, said it was the most beautiful he has seen ... it's called "Beautiful British Columbia"!

    First jumpsuit

IMHO, you need to walk before you run ... nothing wrong with learning to fly on your belly before moving on to the challenge of learning to freefly. What about a big yellow suit like mine, Gale??? Actually, I'd keep wearing the coveralls for a bit longer, then look around for a baggy cotton suit. I was riding a cloud the other day...
  23. No union obviously ... bummer I was riding a cloud the other day...
  24. Lifetime supply of J/Ts "There's nothing new under the sun"
  25. Ouch! Good thing it wasn't a nekid jump... "There's nothing new under the sun"
