Good story! Thanks for sharing. Glad your friend is ok. My friend, Tracy, had a severe line twist malfunction a couple of weeks back ... the twists were pushing down on her neck... couldn't cutaway, so she pulled silver, and fortunately her reserve cleared her main. Then she cutawaythe main, and managed to get straightened away just in time to land -- crashing into a fence. She's bruised up, and has soft tissue damage to the knee, but she's jumping again! Way to go, Tracy!!! "There's nothing new under the sun"

I saw it today... it's like any video of something awful -- anybody who does not know the sport or the jumper won't be too affected by it, but family, friends, and most members of the skydiving community will... TV news is about compelling pictures, and the video IS compelling. My thoughts go out to Skypunk, and everyone who knew him... "There's nothing new under the sun"

No windows nearby at work, but at home, I look south to see the Olympic mountains in Washington State... they are snow-covered year round, complete with ice fields and glaciers... looking west we see a forest (douglas fir, lots of undergrowth), east is a campus of a local college, although we have some big trees between us and the college, and looking north is a few houses, and lots more trees and shrubbery... The view in Vermont sounds nice! Pictures, anyone? "There's nothing new under the sun"

Idon't think it is appropriate so characterize people who enjoys extreme experiences (skydivers as well as mountain climbers) as "idiots"... in my area there is more of a problem with snowboarders going out of bounds, then getting lost and/or hurt, and requiring rescue. I think these people should pay the entire cost of their rescue, but the 3 groups that were climbing Mt Hood were not violating any safety guidelines... "There's nothing new under the sun"
