NWPoul replied to NWPoul's topic in Gear and Rigging
Thanks for your review! Yep, I sure you right, but I need a canopy right now until I find something good for me (looking for a saphire or sabre2 or spectre:) ) edit to add* I was right around a 1-1 wing loading on it at the time Well, may be at ~1.4 it will be little bit more fun to drive this canopy:) Roy Why drink and drive, if you can smoke and fly? -

Lost main, Need advice about canopy for replace...
NWPoul replied to NWPoul's topic in Gear and Rigging
Hi people! Lost my main canopy during "crash landing" last weekend (a nice PD Spectre was hard damaged by trees :( ) so I have to quick find something to replace them...There is a few canopies which can be available very soon, one of them is Robo Z made by Paraflight... I never heard about this type (gues it's an old canopy) Can anyone tell something about this canopy? I would greatly appreciate your any suggestion opinion or advice. At my home DZ's check for risers - are they away (and if not then make them away) is a part of cut away procedures and training of cut away. Of course, if the main wasn't deployed this check point is senseless P.S. Sorry for bad english:) Why drink and drive, if you can smoke and fly?

Helicopter rulezzz! An-2? Agree with nacmacfeegle, you will need the book:) L410 - nice plane want to fly on AN-28 (guys told it/s cool) Why drink and drive, if you can smoke and fly? -
In Russia I believe :) Moskow or St.Petersburg 10$ for 4000ì (some times here in St.Petersburg we can jump right in center of the city - awesome!) P.S. Helicopter - rulezzzzzzzzzz! Why drink and drive, if you can smoke and fly?

May be you are right (and I agree, my quite small expirience of canopy piloting with my weight (85kg w/o rig) most likely can't be applied to 46kg girl), but if she should more trust her collegues than her instructor, may be she have to get other coach? 500 jumps to get a 150 even if wingload will be 1:1 or less ??? Does it realy working? Why drink and drive, if you can smoke and fly?

I think, that you should more trust your instructor than guys who confuse you. During my AFF progression I did note olny positive difference between PD Navigator 260 and Navigator 220 (more confident and soft landings and of course more fun on turns:)). Difference between Navigator 220 and spectre 170 was a litlle bit more significant, but my weight is litle bit higher than yours:). Why drink and drive, if you can smoke and fly?

So, Valentin do you consider, that you was hurt through wingloading? not through mistake on landing? Why drink and drive, if you can smoke and fly?

At St.Petersburg we have a L-29 with 500$/hour right at the DZ!:) Why drink and drive, if you can smoke and fly?

1-53 jumps PD Navigator (mostly 220 WL=1.01) 54-64 jumps PD Spectre 170 WL 1.27 P/S During my AFF, the most confident/soft landings were under 220-th canopy (worst landing under 260) Why drink and drive, if you can smoke and fly?

Hi and welcome to skydive and forums! The listen to instructor is the best way =). Regarding canopy landing there is a few tip from my little experience which I have already post here: Regarding encouragements - at our DZ skygods like to say to newbies - "Don't be afraid, there is never was a case when the skydiver did missed the earth" Be safe & have fun! Hi & welcome to sport and forums! Skid right the best advice is to ask / listen your instructor carefully ;), discuss with him any ideas before you will try it yourself in the sky. So you want make it fun or you want to make it safe ? P.S. few tips on landing: - ask your instructor at which altitude you should start flare, than climb on something with the same height and ... no not jump =))) - remember how earth looks like so you will be more confident act on your first landing. - keep your foot together onlanding and a dont outstretching your legs to the earth at end of landing! I know your instructor certanly tell/told you these basic rules and it seems that it is very easy to follow them, but many people who thught so (including myself) broke this rules on first landings (becouse of euphoria or fear, and becouse the gear will try to move apart your legs). - IMHO the AFF program is more safe than static line Why drink and drive, if you can smoke and fly? -
Hi and welcome to the sky! When I did my first jump (it was a tandem too) exit was re-e-ealy fearfull and I have a serious doubt about my second exit :). But my second jump was AFF and I feel scare & doubts only before I stand in the door, take a look on the prop and feel the wind. I spoke with few AFF students and they tell me that feel the same - fear present only untill the you feel the wind. I can suppose that when you recognize that you will exit (not tandem master jump you ;) ) out of the plane and start is under your control - your doubts go away with the wind =))). So may be you should try AFF? Why drink and drive, if you can smoke and fly?
