  1. Head on over to the Wind Tunnel forum and check out the thread there... NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  2. That's belly-flying though... a freefly preemie is undodgeable... period, end of story. As soon as you see the PC (main or reserve it doesn't matter), the person is gone, no ifs-ands-or-butts. The burble in FF is virtually non-existant. As soon as the PC is out, it's in clear 150+mph air... bad news. I really think Trent's comments hit the nail on the head in this thread. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  3. I resemble that remark... Somehow I think the difference is a LOT more than that... but I'm not even going to attempt to introduce any math into this thread. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  4. Best way to find out what you are doing right/wrong is get video+coaching. That said, in order to speed up you need to minimize drag. You can: get smaller with your arms, i.e. you shouldn't need to hang there in an iron cross, make sure your lower legs are 90° to your upper legs presenting only the bottom of your foot to the wind, i.e. don't present your calf, shins, etc, make sure your upper body is straight and you aren't backsliding. Did I mention you should get video... NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  5. I think a PC1000 with an extra battery will serve you well in most situations. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  6. Was your Safire modded? With the factory control line trim they were known to open hard often. Mine had a huge slider on it as well. As for the Nitron, I am _extremely_ happy with the openings. Softer than a Stiletto that's for sure and I have never been spanked at all. I could do 10 jumps a day, with camera, under it and wouldn't complain. For the ultimate in soft openings I guess a Dacron lined Spectre would be the way to go... but I prefer 9-cells so you won't catch me under one. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  7. Safire 1 w/"hooknswoop" mod: softer!!! Nitron: very soft and consistent! NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  8. So many people have commented to me about the "awesome" quality of the video that a PC1000 shoots, you simply can't beat it for it's size/cost IMO. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  9. How dare you discuss skydiving in "The Bonfire"!!! NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  10. evidently the blind-man-freestyle-dock has yet to be perfected... NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  11. If the seller did not deliver what he advertised he deserves to be "outed" here. Honesty is paramount in selling gear. I know when I sell equipment on here I am extremely detailed regarding the condition of parts, canopies, etc as I know what can result when people don't get what they expect. As a result, I have never had any complaints from my buyers. I personally would _never_ purchase anything from someone after reading a story like this. Complaining about foul language is not an excuse to rip someone off, period. The seller should man up, admit the mistake and make appropriate restitution. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  12. NO NO NO!!! Wait until you are healthy!!! Do not jump when you are congested, you can burst/perforate an ear drum and generally have a really bad day! I've seen it happen, it's not pretty. The sky will still be there next weekend. Have patience.
  13. Quite a few canopies that are not crossbraced come with HMA lines now as the standard lineset, some are uber-high performance and some are relatively mellow. It seems as time marches on that a few manufacturers have seen an advantage in this type of line for one reason or another. Better trim characteristics, less drag, etc... The Fusion, Nitro, Nitron, Blade, and Mamba all spring to mind as having HMA as standard so I don't think you could really "outlaw" the line type. RDS systems are another story I guess... but I've never used one so I can't contribute anything meaningful there. Of course, I'm not a competitor yet but I might give it a try one of these days since I have a new rig on the way. So when you comin' back to MH Dave? NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  14. Yeah, the output through RCA jacks in analog. Regardless of how the linear board is buffering the info there is still going to be losses because of the D to A to D conversions. The videos I have done that were pure digital, i.e. DV --> Firewire --> Premier --> DVD looked much cleaner than stuff that went through a linear board on my friend's equipment. In fact I had a bunch of people come up to me after I "screened" one of my DVDs asking me how I got the videos "so crisp and clear". That was a first for me. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080

    arrested

Matthew was arrested for his politically maladroit actions and sent back to Dublin. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  16. _lots_ of work jumps... live on a trailer at the DZ... svelt lifestyle... sponsorships... few expenses... etc... NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  17. Like I said earlier, don't bitch at me, bitch at the TI... I just thought the picture was cool. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  18. I would have to agree with you there. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  19. Thanks for reinforcing my point about the excessive amount of overly judgmental people here that think they are entitled to the moral high-ground. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  20. Apples and oranges once again... putting a FJC student on a HP canopy is not the analogue of the hybrid in the photo. You are foisting your western liberal nanny-state morals on others again. The passenger is an adult; she made the choice to participate and obviously had fun. That's enough for me. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  21. Oh yeah, what format your video is in will make a difference as to how easy it will be. =) NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  22. Yes, Windows Movie Maker is a good free tool that comes with Windows XP and can capture stills from a video file. NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  23. lol, I think we'd get along really well... NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
  24. So is it the pendulum-effect of your body getting ahead of the canopy that causes it? NSCR-2376, SCR-15080
