What has been largest completed Hybrid formation?
bob.dino replied to amychmelecki's topic in The Bonfire
I've been on a 14-16-way hybrid*. We turned points as well. The record has to be significantly bigger than that.... * can't remember the exact size. -
Getting to Ramblers Toogoolawah DZ
bob.dino replied to brettski74's topic in Events & Places to Jump
The DZ runs a bus, but I don't recall it being cheap. There's quite a few Queensland jumpers hanging out on http://skysurfer.com.au/forums. You might get better information there. -
What's in a skydiver's future?
bob.dino replied to long6oarder's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
When you're a new skydiver you spend all your time & money at the dropzone, the only thing you can talk about is skydiving, and you're wondering why non-jumping partners don't always swoon at the thought? -
You're a vampire. At least you get the scantily-clad chicks.

Staropramen 12 is better. As is Budviosky Budwar.

Pity you can't spell the name of the hated f*!$^@g Comic Sans correctly .

Don't even think about flying from London to Paris. Eurostar is your friend. 2hrs in a train takes you from the centre of London to the centre of Paris. Quicker and simpler than an airplane. They used to offer a cheap upgrade-to-first-once-on-board deal; they may still do. edit: you can also take the train from Paris to Barcelona in 8hrs. Flying might be easier....

No a pharmacist (apothacary) is the person who makes up the drugs and scripts, the person who helps you purchase them is a shop/chemist assistant. Thanks for the correction. I was struggling for the correct form of words with that one.

Wing Loading Help me out ????
bob.dino replied to airborne82nd's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
PD have a minimum wing loading for the Velocity of 1.0. It's not a good idea to fly one loaded below that, but otherwise, go for it. I know jumpers that toggle whip VXes, I know jumpers that turn at 300ft on Velocities, I know a jumper that loads his VX at about 1.7, and they all love how their canopy responds. If they were looking to get into competition swooping then they might approach things differently, but for them the canopy does what they desire. -
Not speaking to the recent events, but I think 2 & 4 combined are a potent combination when the faster canopy is new to the jumper in question. The ability to think ahead of the canopy is something that takes time to develop, and if you regularly jump at a busy DZ it might cause you problems.

Completely wrong. Dell offer XP or Vista. HP offer XP or Vista. Lenovo offer XP or Vista.

Barista is the name for someone that makes espresso-based coffee. She was perfectly correct - more than 50% of the taste of a good coffee is a result of the barista's skill, or lack thereof. Someone who fixes your shoes is a cobbler. Someone who fixes your computer is a computer technician. Someone who helps you purchase your medication is a chemist/pharmacist. Even though they all work in retail environments. Why should a barista be any different?

Who's in the black jumpsuit with orange/white and black grippers? Same colours as Pat McG, so I'm thinking Christopher Irwin, but the flying style doesn't seem quite right...

For others who may not know: If the Cypres is installed in a rig, when you turn it on, a Cypres1 will count down from 9999, pausing at 5000 and 100. A Cypres2 will count down from 10.

I can't speak for the price, but the container, reserve, and main seem well suited to you. Have fun & welcome to the sport

Da Vinci tattoo, who's got it?
bob.dino replied to Chris-Ottawa's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
That's belly flying for sure. ...and when he gets a beer belly he can just say that he's using a wide-angle lens. -
If you're tracking all the way back along jump run, you've got bigger problems than just landing out. Well said. Just in case someone reading doesn't understand: If you track down jump-run, you're tracking towards the group(s) that exited before you. This means that you may open in the same airspace as them. Collisions between jumpers in freefall and jumpers under open canopies rarely have pleasant results.

What is the most popular color and size for a kill line pilotchute??
bob.dino replied to snivel1's topic in Gear and Rigging
After spending several hours looking for a chopped baglock, I concur. -
You've only just heard of Nabaztag? They've been around a while, but should be launching an updated product around about now - did a press release alert you?

Fri-Mon. 10 jumps/day. 2 rigs & a packer.
-
0:30:1 30 4-way jumps. Weather stopped us getting the 40 we'd hoped for. 1 case of beer for my new rig.
