  1. You have a cockpit? /runs away giggling
  2. Past tense now. Most turbine jumps in Australia are out of Caravans or PAC 750XLs.
  3. The chocolate Eagle Otter has wing spars at lifetime. I doubt it'll ever fly again. VH-JEA is the one that's being sold back into airline service.
  4. Minor issue: you can't fit a hot chick and a rig in a Ferrari.
  5. Picton (Sydney Skydivers) -200 series Otter has had the seats put back in and is being sold back into airline service. With a Turbine Beaver (10pax), 750XL (16-17pax), and a Skyvan (21pax), it just didn't seem to get used all that much. Pity, as it was the only skydiving Otter in Australia.
  6. Bugger-all of note . Bronze in 8s. There were three teams.
  7. The Optima is not very tough. My suggestion would be to mount it inside, in the pockets designed for an audible. Otherwise I don't think it'll survive riser knocks or combat RW.
  8. As I understand it, a competition record is for that particular competition. A performance record is overall - the "World Record".
  9. It went very well - we didn't win anything but I learned an absolute heap. No pics as yet - waiting for others to email them to me. Lots and lots o' fun!
  10. Drew's post was pretty damn good. Some more things: Keep the CV short, focussed, and to the point. If you deal with headhunters make sure they know if there's somewhere you don't want your CV to go. Unless, of course, you're comfortable with your boss getting a call from his mate that you're shopping around. Note: this may get you the raise you're after... Be professional: don't accept an offer then renege when someone else matches it. Say you'll consider it, then ask your current employer to beat it by 20%.
  11. Competing in the Australian Nationals, in 4-way, 8-way, and 10-way. Lots of fun!
  12. Hear hear. Talk about a fate worse than death.
  13. You have great resources at Elsinore and nearby at Perris. I'd recommend doing a little coached tunnel time & jumping. There are many good coaches in the area, but I've always had a great time with Pat McGowan. I'll PM you his email address. This will help you with the basics and allow you to practice these when you jump with others. The second step to getting better is jumping regularly with others that have similarly focussed goals. If you can get a group together to jump one day a month, excellent. If they're all better than you, so much the better! Have fun & welcome to the sport
  14. Plenty of people here know or knew everyone you mention. This is a very small community.
  15. Homemade cookies? Yay! If we can get a dollar off the jump ticket price everyone mentions The War On Terror or 9/11, I'm there
  16. I rolled an ankle running a month ago and haven't been able to get back yet. Doesn't help that I've done best part of 100 jumps in that month though... Nationals came at an inconvenient time.
  17. Very uncommon. There are very very few canopies regularly used as mains that can also be used as a reserve. In the USA it'd be illegal to use a PD Sabre as a reserve, as it's not been certified for that purpose.
  18. Do some reading on the Aussie system - new instructors are on probation under the supervision of a Chief Instructor for 6 months, and also have some continuing education requirements. http://www.apf.asn.au for more.
