  1. I failed 5, twice. Frustrating at the time, but in the long run it's no big deal.

    Hey, Irish:

There's nice piccy here. As Kevin & sabre210 said, the West coast of Ireland is notoriously windy. Boat extraction could be a problem too - the North Atlantic can be pretty rough.
  3. Why? FF + flash will do just fine. But yeah, I agree with JoellerCoaster. The site makes me want to smash things.
  4. I've seen similar. Premature deployment while in the recovery position during a sit jump. On deployment, the d-bag+risers ripped the reserve container loose - it was held on solely by the stitching between the shoulder blades. The grommets in the main risers were dented by the 3-rings and the end of the cutaway cable housing. One of the cutaway cables was kinked by the force of the opening, and would possibly have prevented a cutaway. Fortunately the main canopy was undamaged. The jumper escaped with lots of brusing and a good story.
  5. Being outdoors all day in an Australian summer doesn't help either...
  6. Good to hear you're having a fun time! Could you put some names to faces in the first pic?
  7. Seconded. Happy birthday m'dear!
  8. To me it just looks like a test site. They don't have their own domain, the site is ugly, and I couldn't see a phone number. I wouldn't be at all surprised if it was produced as college/uni coursework.
  9. For parachutes, get a copy of The Parachute and its Pilot, by Brian Germain. There's also useful info in the APF's High Performance Canopy Handling Manual. Additionally, there's a ton of information in the archives of the GSD, S&T, and Incidents forums.
  10. You jumping this weekend? Grab Steve Smith, Rob Ellery, or Mike Vaughan after jumping. They'll talk you through it. Steve did mine when I got my Spectre, but I wouldn't trust myself to show you correctly...
  11. That, to me, is the hallmark of a good company.
  12. Hey, the original post was only six-and-a-half hours ago. Cut the guy some slack - he could be asleep, watching baseball, down the pub, or watching baseball down the pub . If he doesn't respond for two or three days, then your post might be justified. As it is, the tone of it just reduces the chances of the guy posting here to clarify his side of the story.
  13. I haven't, but you might get a better response in General Skydiving Discussions or Safety & Training rather than Bonfire.
  14. I don't think I'll manage eight on Saturday. Seven is quite plausible. So, it'll be Sunday before I put the case on - I'll happily drink your beer on Saturday though...
  15. As long as I get the casting vote in case of a tie, fine. I'll just bribe Lainey . The royalties from this video should allow me to retire comfortably
  16. Yeah, I'm doing 4-way with Nic, Matt, and Vaughny all weekend! If all goes well, I'll owe a carton for my 300th too . Oh, and I'll pay Krisanne's airfare if I get the exclusive video rights .
  17. (such an appropriate emoticon)
  18. Bollocks. She'll get a big head now . (just joking darlin' )
  19. Friends of mine like Matter. They look good enough to wear on the street and they can be zipped into shorts.
  20. Launching a four-way you can't hear a thing. Common ones I know of: Shake, down, go. Shake, up, down, go. Stomp, down, go. My fave. Shake, stomp, wiggle yer arse, up, down, go. This one is only used by freeflyers launching hybrids. Smartarses .
  21. Leave your rig in an obvious place. Wear a dz.com T-shirt .
  22. Oh, narcissm! Yay! Count me in! Here's me having tapas, drinking with the one and only BGill, and removing the steps from the skvan before some 4-way fun.
  23. It's her 21st! If she remembers it, Alana's doing something wrong .
