  1. Maybe so, but no-one likes to be patronised by their elders. Patronising people makes them stop listening to you, and then they stop learning as smartly as they could. Then some of them die. I'm also not a big fan of cliques; I don't think terminology that advocates divisiveness ("us and them") is to be encouraged. Hence my distaste for 'tourist'. And 'whuffo'. edited to add: I'm not getting all bent out of shape about this; 'tis just a point I felt needed making. On that, we agree. He understood the principles behind his work in a way that few ever do. This is a great book about the man (and the ladies ) behind the physics.
  2. I'm happy to eat, as long as she swallows .
  3. 'kay. Thanks for the clarification.
  4. She hands you her underwear at the restaurant table.
  5. It's looking unlikely for Sunday, but Saturday is a real possibility... PM me if you're gonna be there.
  6. binkster may well have had a very good case. 6am phone calls with bad news don't usually put you in the best of moods, especially if you're all excited about having been approved. I can sympathise. If he'd provided all the relevant information in his first post, he'd be looking a lot better now. I think the thread would have stayed civil. Unfortunately, binkster posted tens of almost identical replies, which only weaken his case. JT-Mirage's reply implicitly contracits binkster's story and didn't do much to alleviate his concerns. Kolla is the one that come's out with the most credit - she addressed his problem, apologised for the miscommunication, and offered to resolve it. Bravo.
  7. To the best of my knowledge: NZ Aerosports designs canopies. Icarus makes and sells the canopies designed by NZ Aerosports, except for the new Daedalus range.
  8. Maybe you need these parking spaces?
  9. Agreed. It's condescending in the same manner as is calling non-jumpers 'wuffos'. Edited for grammar.
  10. Fancy sticking it on skydivingmovies.com for us?
  11. The other major one is Brian Germain, also with loads of happy students. Check his website for time+location of courses.
  12. The chances of finding a second-hand Pilot in Australia are low. There aren't that many at all in the country - in fact the only one I've heard of belongs to fergs. I'm sure there's a few out in WA, as that's where TotalControl, who sell Aerodyne gear, are based.
  13. The APF has the following contact information: ROOCHUTES AUSTRALIA Pty Ltd, PO Box 125, WYNNUM QLD 4178, Loft at 35 Foley Rd, Hemmant QLD 4174 07 3890 1716, Fx 07 3890 1718, Mobile 014 055 643 For those outside Australia, the country code is 61.
  14. Well hey, whaddya know! Myself, Travman and Scott managed a three-way at the end of Saturday. Guess which one of us funneled it? Good fun though, and some nice flying from the boys .
  15. :13:0 Lots of 4-way action, a 20-way tracking jump for my 300th, and a couple of jumps with low-timers. Oh, and too much beer. All good .
  16. I'm training all this weekend, but we'll do some 2/3/4-way jumps the weekend of the 16/17th. I'll probably only jump on the Sunday, but PM me during the week (in case I forget ) and we'll organise it.
  17. Definitely a belt. As a guy, having all that weight high up on my chest felt weird. The belt was much nicer. That said, I know quite a few women who prefer vests.
  18. In Oz, the minimum requirement is 500 jumps, but I believe our CI (~= DZO) will very rarely train anyone with less than 1000 jumps.
  19. Could you get out to Bankstown? Rory could do it on the spot - it'd only take about 20 minutes.
