WHITE is my new favorite color! ...
bob.dino replied to nate_1979's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
At least you've got plenty of time to practice your packing . -
What WLing did you start swooping at?
bob.dino replied to superstu's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Fair enough. But putting your nickname as SwoopMeister makes it seem as if you do think you're tastier than Marmite. For the record, I've never seen you fly, and I've no idea of your ability, but loading a canopy at 2.45:1 with under 250 jumps would mean that you'd have serious difficulty persuading any dropzone in Australia to let you jump there. -
Good canopy for learning to swoop?
bob.dino replied to tetra316's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Arc. Referring to the curve the canopy travels once you let go of the front risers. An arch is something you build as a monument to your glorious victories. -
Does he wear a leather jacket and dance with Olivia Newton-John?

Postage would probably be prohibitive for US residents, but RMW in Australia make damn good weight belts.

I've not had to run out a landing on my Spectre 190 in a long time. One or two steps is it. ryoder and CanuckInUSA seem to be providing sensible advice... and both know more about canopies than I do.

Being able to think during freefall
bob.dino replied to Mockingbird's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
That's why I do 4-way. The zen feeling of being completely in the moment. It feels sooo good. -
why are manifesters usually girls?

...and at boogies you get to abuse the participants. Especially those that might've put on a few pounds . -
What pranks have you fallen prey to in skydiving?
bob.dino replied to soarfree's topic in The Bonfire
Happened to my on my first jump with my Spectre. We're doing 4-way, and one of the guys comes to take a sidebody on me. I think I've brainlocked, 'coz I was sure the next point was a meeker. Until I'm under an open canopy at 6k . Bastards . -
There's currently two beer lines at my DZ: one at the line that deliniates the spectator & packing area from the landing area, and one temporary one where we're growing new grass.

Ummm, might work. Will you promise to laugh at my jokes?

If I wasn't going to Ireland, London, and Osaka straight afterwards, I definitely would. Unfortunately I can't take a contiguous month off work .
-
Unfortunately it's winter here . Still, I'll be in Perris in early August for some tunnel, coaching, and maybe even a fun jump or two .

It's summer in Australia & NZ in December. Warm, sunny, perfect for surfing, lying on the beach, scuba diving, and... ummm... probably something else too.

Go Fast Challenge and CPC Championships
bob.dino replied to swoopster33's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Oh, I know that. I can do maths too. Sometimes . Just pointing out that Mile-Hi don't have a monopoly on large swoop ponds. Are you going to flip out and kill me now -
How is quoting an email from the company hearsay? Or speculation? Hearsay: "My mate told me that Simon Ward said..." Speculation: "I think..." This isn't either of those.

Rupert Jee Goes Skydiving (Skydiving on Letterman)
bob.dino replied to JumpHog's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
'Cause of the drogue he's edited out! -
Suggestion: keep the dytter, but set it below your normal breakoff altitude. If it goes off and you haven't broken off, you've screwed up and its done its job and reminded you.

Sabre 135 w/ 25 jumps ~ 1.4 WL
bob.dino replied to Kimblair13's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I would. He's probably not going to listen to a fellow newbie, but he may just listen to his instructor. And if he doesn't, maybe the DZO will ground him. -
