    There are no dumb questions, only inquisitive blondes. TOTALLY KIDDING OKAYY??! But I HAD to go for it. Some rock/country pickers do it that way, but for Classical it's a MUST. In college we'd spend countless man-hours religiously shaping and smoothing right hand nails with 500-grain jeweler's sandpaper. The tiniest jagged surface on nylon strings will make your hair stand on end. The left hand nails we'd just hack off with clippers.
