  3. yeah, pull time was always kinda scary. the worst was standing or sitting, having 150 mph wind trying to knock that shoulder out was no fun. recently, all i had been doing was video for my FF team, just on my head, it was the only "comfortable" position. i'm just so glad i finally got it taken care of
  4. YES! its happened to me twice in freefall and once under canopy, always a scary deal. finally went to the doc for it, even after all the army pt, i STILL had problems with it. ended up i tore 2 ligaments in the rotator, i couldn't play softball or golf anymore, jumping became just as bad. had surgery on it last week and i'm typing this w/ 1 hand lol. i've talked w/ a couple of skydivers who had the surgical procedure as well and they swear by it. i tried therapy, jumping w/ a brace, everything, but since it was torn up so bad, the only way to fix it was to have surgery. i'm on the slow road to recovery now and looking forward to jumping again :) good luck in what you decide to do about it, i know how frustrating it can be! cheers _______________________ aerialkinetics.com
  5. true, but its all what you dedicate yourself to... we can just as easily turn 10-15 points freeflying, as we have our own complexity as well. ie: eagles, jokers, etc. see you around bartlett
  6. it was the 25, my mistake... the green one
  7. God i wish i made it and i'm still bummed about it, watching my team kickass and take 2nd, and not being there with those guys. oh well, watch out next year when i'm outta the skysling :) also, thanks to those who called in 2 check on me after surgery, made me smile a little last weekend... levin, nick, shannon, muffin
  8. dan, i have an excellent video of catfish deploying the 26. i was behind him in the door as we did a train exit and he deployed the canopy in front of him. as my feet let go of him, the canopy didn't even fill up half my screen (it's a .43 lens as well).
  9. yup did the same thing last night, didn't bother starting my paper till 2300, but turned it in this morning, not so bright eyed and bushy tailed though _______________________ aerialkinetics.com
  10. lol, that sucks! i should get 1/2 a day for secretaries day too, everyone forgot about me oh well. anyway, sitflying, my best advice would be to try the train a few more times to get the feel of being upright. when doing solos, lying on your back can get you spinny, so if you cork try going to your belly and bringing your feet underneath you. you may find also that you do a lot of "ass-flying" meaning you're sitting in a lounge chair position. when this happens, focus on bringing your legs underneath you once again and staying upright as long as possible. once you're able to hold stable, then have local freeflyers show you how to move forward, back, etc. hope this helps just a little. have fun out there

  15. alright guys, here's my .02 on the whole skysurfing thing, and i've said it many times before. first here's my disclaimer: i only have 100 skysurf jumps, 30 on the little bitty and the rest on the big board. i haven't surfed in a year, i'm concentrating my efforts on freeflying and competing in that arena. but here goes. i started jumping the board when i had just under 200 jumps. before even considering it, i made SURE i could stand the entire way down, do layouts no problem and punch back into the stand. you'd be surprised how much legwork skysurfing is, especially once you get past the beginner board. i spent an entire day with a guy who had 500 board jumps. we did ground preparation for 1/2 the day and then went up and i demonstrated my "freestyle/standing" skills in the air for him. he felt good about it so the next jump, i strapped on the board. he went on my first 2 board jumps, then said i was good to go... i continued to learn mostly on my own, watching videos and taking advice from some good board jumpers i knew (ie: tim bernard, tanya garcia). i've taken 3 people out on their first board jumps. 2 of them (well experienced jumpers) handed the board back to me and said "never again." the board's not for everyone. it can kick your ass... it certainly has mine. there are numerous things to consider (ie: board cutaways, canopy cutaways, bindings, etc.) that come into play. learn from someone who's been there, and who can give you a sound foundation. again, i do not profess to know everything, this is just what i've gained from my limited experience cheers! _______________________ aerialkinetics.com
  16. i agree. case and point: its an attempt to keep skydiving's image totally out of the gutter, considering how most of its unprofessional anyway. didn't mean for that to sound bad though, because i love the sport and the people, it just puts on a better image to the public.
  17. Hey Snow, You know I'll be there
  18. honestly, i agree with craig. i wouldn't jump with someone if they've been drinking, actually maybe a select few (lol) although it's not something i necessarily agree with. stoners on the other hand, it depends. if they do it on a regular basis, then i have no problem (for the most part). if its someone who's inexperienced and gets all loopy and nutty after 1 hit, then i don't think so. hell, high skydivers have been some of the most precise and cautious, and kickass flyers i've seen. call me crazy but ok as long as you're not an idiot in the air, and i know who i'm going with, its all a personal choice. _______________________ aerialkinetics.com
