yes, there are differences between the three, diagrams would be nice right about now but here are their definitions: pull-out - a hand deployed system with a springless pilot chute. pulling the handle extracts the container locking pin and then pulls the pilot chute out into the airstream throw-out - a hand deployed pilot chute system in which the skydiver grasps a springless pilot chute and vigorously throws it into the airstream ripcord (my own definition) is a container locking device that deploys a spring loaded pilot chute in which the jumper will pull and keep in his hand a pilot chute is a small parachute used to initiate and/or accelerate deployment a ripcord can come on any type of rig, including javelins, however, throw out or pull out pilot chutes are most common today on sport rigs. now if you're talking about deploying a reserve parachute, sport rigs all have ripcords and a spring loaded pilot chute. there's no such thing as a pull out or throw out when we're NOT talking about a main parachute. hope this helps. _______________________ aerialkinetics.com

if you like your hornet but not the openings... have you thought about just putting a pocket slider on it? it will slow it down quite reasonably and a rigger should be able to put one on for you. might save you some $$$ instead of going for a brand new sabre2 whether you get a brand new one or keep the one you're currently jumping. however you stated that money is not an issue, then check out some demo's before you buy. icarus safire2's or a sabre2 are good canopies to start with. _______________________ aerialkinetics.com

Why is skysurf so uncommon today?
brits17 replied to The111's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
hello, i did mostly FF before hopping on board. i only had 200 jumps when i surfed as well. good prerequisites are being able to stand the whole dive (no wobbling), layout to stand (forward and backwards), easily execute 360's in a stand (left and right). if you can accomplish these maneuvers comfortably, you're ready to test out a board. -
Why is skysurf so uncommon today?
brits17 replied to The111's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
everyone's pretty muched summed it up already, but i just wanted to add my tiny opinion. i think its unappealing because i've felt its the most difficult discipline to learn. there's not many to learn from (reasons have been previously posted) so beginners are on their own, for the most part, unless they get coaching. and its just a damn hard concept to learn to fly the board as a part of you, not an added element. i've taken three folks out for their 1st board jumps. 1 said never again, 1 did a couple more jumps on the beginner board, and 1 did about 20 more jumps on the beginner. its rewarding, its frustrating. unappealling because to be successful, every jump has to be a skysurf jump. it takes every ounce of discipline and dedication to that one skill. most skydivers want something a little easier to pick up, a little safer, and leeway in their choice of jumps with the option of exceling at their preferred discipline. _______________________ aerialkinetics.com -
