Do you take the main out before doing a reserve repack?
brits17 replied to sunshine's topic in Gear and Rigging
always. i really prefer not to mess with the main at all, please take the main out and home if possible. i'm more than happy to help reassemble the main, check the lines etc... but it makes the rigger's job easier in the aspects of inspection and time if the customer cuts it away. _______________________ aerialkinetics.com -

i've met with missy and amy, but i would like to meet jen of the sugargliderz gals. hope this counts since i don't think she's a dz.commer edit to add: most badass female skygal i admire and have never met is tonya garcia. what she can do in the air is hot! _______________________ aerialkinetics.com

i've done 3 (as the passenger)... no war wounds. openings were painless, just have to take grips correctly and not get a slammer opening _______________________ aerialkinetics.com

for clarity, both jumpers wear rigs. one jumper hangs on for dear life to the front of the other. passenger usually wrapping legs around the bottom of the other's container, arms/hands on the mudflaps, and head should be buried in the other's chest. as the "carrier" exits he deploys within 2 seconds. obviously a low airspeed is wanted for the passenger to be able to hang on. once they both are under the same parachute, the passenger has the ability to let go when he wishes. quite the fun ride

i personally think racer's are a great system. the only problem i have is with the rubber bands on the freebag. like derek noted, for those who do not adhere to the 180 day repack cycle, rubber bands can get brittle in there. i like the pin protection and i personally think they're easy to pack (no tension devices, all flaps close at once, loop replacement much less often). do your own research, everyone has their opinions... just take the good... with the bad _______________________ aerialkinetics.com

hey, hate to see anyone go... i'll tell ya what, even though i never chimed in, your posts always gave me a good laugh or 2 maybe don't boycott dz.com completely, just ignore the posts that have something nasty to say or offends you. this forum is full of ALL different kinds of people so naturally, not everybody's going to be happy all the time. you're right betsy... actually blake, now that i realize who you are and what rig you jump, it probably isn't the velcro since it seems to be a new Mirage correct? _______________________ aerialkinetics.com

i have a G3 that has bout 600 jumps on it now, no problems though with the reserve handle lodging. again, re-stating what has already been said, but probably the velcro needs to be replaced. _______________________ aerialkinetics.com

Of course I've been told this numerous times, thats why I went ahead and climbed the damn thing even though there's an elevator. Actually, I really don't mind the climb to 600. Done it a couple times now and its got a rewarding feel to it. Although, I'm not going to pass up an elevator ride (if available) any higher than that _______________________ aerialkinetics.com

Really? I was unaware of this... which one? Thanks for the info, ya learn something new every day... _______________________ aerialkinetics.com

There are no limitations on the life of a reserve. You're right, PD requires that the reserve be sent back to them every 25 jumps or 40 repacks, whichever comes first. Generally, once a reserve has reached 20-25 years, most riggers will no longer pack them. It starts to come down to better judgement. _______________________ aerialkinetics.com

I'm too new to answer all those questions, but I'll answer that I've climbed an antenna with a working elevator. Just for the hell of it. _______________________ aerialkinetics.com

The blood pumping, heart going feeling is more performance anxiety these days. The "fear" is gone, but a slight twinge of nervousness is still usually there. I realize I still respect what I am doing and if I lost those respect-type nerves, then I would consider myself too complacent to be jumping from a plane. _______________________ aerialkinetics.com

Why did you start skydiving/ BASE jumping?
brits17 replied to lkolkin's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I started BASE out of the initial curiousity. And I'll stick true to my statement that if someone actually jumps from a fixed object, enjoys it enough to do it again... there's a screw loose somewhere. Heh, but I always knew that about myself, so no suprises there Its everything I thought it would be, and more. I started skydiving because of the same curiousity. The dream of unihibited human flight intrigued me and still does. _______________________ aerialkinetics.com -

i did a review a while ago on the velocity (its just me being silly mostly)... http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/gear/page.cgi?page=review_single_view;review=531 but anyway, just from my limited personal experience, the velocity produced longer swoops, greater rate of descent, more consistent on heading openings, and no smackaroo openenings either (yet). the FX didn't measure up in my opinion, but i only demo'd one FX 79 and have jumped a couple velocity's... a 79 and 75. i'd say demo to form your own opinion before purchasing. _______________________ aerialkinetics.com
