Were you sit-flying in this rig or did I just misread your first post?
-
Let me tell you some other things about this guy that Tom didn't cover : When he was out in South Africa he decided to do a bandit jump. He (or his sponsors Red Bull I presume) hired a helicopter and he did a hop n pop from '500 over a beach in Cape Town. How much shit do you think this caused for BASE jumping, skydiving and demo jumps in Cape Town? I am not a BASE jumper, but from what South African BASE jumpers and skydivers in Cape Town have told me he is not welcome back there. When posed the question "What do you want in your will?" Felix Bumgardner said that they must build a museum in memory of him. People could then pay money to come and see his BASE rigs and videos of him etc. I shit you not, I heard this first hand from the person who asked him the question (a fellow Red Bull jumper but not a twat). Anyway, I don't think another holiday to South Africa would be a sensible thing for this guy to do. Will

I would've thought your skinny butt could fall that slow without a wingsuit... Where did you make these wingsuit jumps and how many jumps do you have in total now? Will

wide angle/"fish eye" lens recommendations...
skreamer replied to mountainman's topic in Photography and Video
I was using a Kenko 0.43 fish-eye lens but it was only good for close-up stuff. I'm now using a Kenko 0.45 which gives much better results (in my limited experience). I got both these lenses really cheap and for the stuff I do (ie funjumping only) they are adequate. But to answer your question : the Kenko 0.43 will give you the bends () - you can just zoom it in a smidge to get rid of the black corners(vignetting). Also, if you notice vignette when you edit on your PC don't be too worried, it probably won't show on a TV (lower resolution). Will -
I don't follow. Nobody criticized his right to post/say anything, people did criticize what he posted/said. Doesn't this constitute freedom of speech too? (BTW I didn't realize these forums had to ascribe to American amendments/laws). Hmm, maybe some kid that got burnt by napalm in Vietnam or hurt by a stray bomb in Afghanistan has a hard time figuring out who the good and bad white people are. How are they supposed to tell?

Reality check I found this last sentence to be rather profound :

Unconscious Under Reserve - Safe Wingloading
skreamer replied to NathanL100's topic in Gear and Rigging
If you were unconscious under canopy wouldn't that be a given? Without any input from the pilot (harness, toggles or risers) wouldn't any canopy turn downwind and stay downwind? Will -
Steve's ring is definitely not small () - it is a regular size bicycle rim (thats why it is such a Godzilla tube). It is very light though. Maybe an aluminium kiddies BMX bike rim would be better? Will
-
He said that he has 70 jumps, maybe thats why he (sensibly)doesn't feel ready for an elliptical canopy just yet. Your profile says you have 95 jumps, are you sure you are ready for the "elliptical factor"? I don't know your wing-loading, but this does seem a bit soon to be going elliptical. Will

Expert Cunning Linguist?

I have not found this to be true in Holland, UK, Germany or Sweden. Who told you most of Europe doesn't have many issues with jumping through clouds? Will

Where on your site are the tube pics?
-
Isn't this a bit too heavy? ie couldn't it do damage if you had to chuck it? The thing I like about Matteo (RedItaly) and Clay's designs is that if you do have to chuck the tube, it is really light (basically an oversized WDI) and wouldn't do any damage when it lands. I do like your idea of the grommets though, a lot easier than stitching the tube over the ring. Clay : for the handles my rigger is making swages (suages? SP?) - very light and strong. Will
-
No worries dude - thanks for the advice. (and maybe your English is a bit better than my Italian... )

I thought Tempos only came in white?
-
Hi guys I'm getting some tubes made by my rigger. I'm providing the materials, have got the ZP, but what can I use for the rings? Also, any of you who have experience making/jumping tubes : what are the suggested dimensions for the tube itself(ie circumference and length)? Thanks Will

You can buy it here http://www.serpentstail.com/books/?_P=BOK1852428058 for $8. Looks like a chick book (but with loads of bonking).

Now THAT is a well-written story!! She seems like the kind of chick that AA would've shagged... Was this taken from uk.rec?

I recently saw an Australian freeflyer (James Evered) flying a Spectre '150 outswooping a LOT of people with smaller elliptical canopies. Of course he does have over 5000 jumps. Another thing to consider is if you are a fun jumper who will be making 200 or less jumps a year, maybe you will want to choose the more 'conservative' canopy to match your level of currency. FWIW Eric Fradet jumps a Spectre too, his reason : 'because he wants to enjoy skydiving for a long time and become an old skydiver'. I've got about 300 jumps on a Hornet '150, but since I started jumping camera I can appreciate why camera flyers favour Spectres, Stilettos, Cobalts etc - a hard opening can *really* spoil your day/neck. Did you know that Gary Beyer from Airspeed is South African too? (OK OK, I'll stop now... )
-
And half that "US Team" will be South African!!!
-
Why did you feel the need to post this bit of information?
-
You can't. It has to say that for legal reasons (so they don't get sued out of existence). In this instance, fortunately, it would appear that the helmet did make a difference. Hope the guy regains consciousness and his condition keeps improving. Will

Have you considered completing AFF somewhere that has better weather (eg Spain or Florida)? Its hard enough being a fun jumper in the UK, being a student must be worse. Will
