Well, they have mostly cured the leprosy, but fortunately that hasn't stopped her from spending quality time with her lesbian Hell's Angel partner or her extensive gun collection. Apart from that (and the multiple personalites thing) she's a really nice girl though, want her number?

I'd just like to give some credit where it is due : My older sister had been visiting my younger sister in California. This was her first time out of South Africa, she took my two nieces (aged 3 and 5 along). Anyway, she was at the airport in San Francisco yesterday to start the journey home, when she got robbed (purse snatched). This was a bit unnerving for her, luckily the passports and tickets weren't stolen as well. Then her flight got held up a bit because the police were questioning her. She was in quite a condition when she did eventually get on the plane and was balling her eyes out. One of the cabin attendants found out what had happened and then took a collection round the plane (which my sister knew nothing about). The amount raised was almost as much as had been stolen (cards were already canceled). The cabin attendant also radioed ahead to make sure that there was somebody to help my sister during their stopover at Heathrow (she even organized for my sister and nieces to have access to the first class lounge at Heathrow). I will be writing American Airlines to express my gratitude (as will most of my family) and commend the cabin attendant for her thoughtfulness and caring. I can't thank all the American people on that flight who gave of their money (which my sister would never have asked for) - but I am grateful to them as well. My sister had been saving all she could for this holiday for the last 18 months, thanks to all those people who helped her, she will still only have good memories of the USA. Will PS my nieces preferred California to London, but how the hell was I going to match Disneyland???

I'm sure when I do the FJC I'll be taking a *lot* of toilet paper along.... BTW does anybody actually use those laser range-finder gizmos?

You can buy Joe Jenning's Good Stuff on DVD for only $20US. Even with the postage to Australia that is still a bargain (my copy arrived in London exactly a week after I ordered). As long as your DVD is multi-region you shouldn't have any worries playing it. Will

I just found out my camera-suit will be finished tomorrow! Suddenly I'm very keen to go jumping again.

Ag man, thats fine. I got just as defensive about my Hornet when people who'd never even flown one slagged them off. Sorry if I came across a bit strong.

But we are talking pastries here and he wasn't very currant bun...
-
I have heard talk of people smuggling pastries, have even seen it in the movies. Apparently Joe was funding his entire operation by smuggling pastries. His girlfriend Raylene was helping out by smuggling Smarties... Was it really an accident.....

I still say the dumbass was loading that French Springo roll too heavily...

I say it serves Joe right for not using a CYPRES (Cybernetic Pastry Release System)!! As jy dom is moet jy kak!

What has this got to do with what I posted? I mentioned in my post that Vortexes bought new do not have good resale value because possibly people buy them cheaper from South Africa. The guy I was giving advice to was considering buying a complete rig for £2950, how much did your Vortex cost you? Here's an example you might understand : I recently bought a new Heatwave '135. My sister brought it over for me (as a gift of course), so I didn't pay shipping or customs. I paid under £400 ($600US) for my new custom-coloured Heatwave. How much do you think I would have paid for that canopy if I bought it in the UK? I know lots of skydivers (either South African or with connections) who are doing the same. Knowing this, don't you think it would have a negative effect on the resale value if you should pay the UK price? Would you pay £2500 for a VortexII that had 50 jumps on it? (considering the guy paid £2 950 when he bought it new) You obviously would not pay that price because we both know you could buy that rig brand new, custom made for yourself for a lot less in South Africa. Will PS FWIW I am South African, own PISA canopies and have jumped a Vortex II, so your observation about people commenting on gear they have never even seen in their life was extremely half-assed (especially considering my comment was re. price and resale value and I never once mentioned quality control.

If burnout from your job was part of the original problem, then why not try a change of jobs or careers? And if you do decide to try a different career, will it really matter if you take 6 months out now? You could always just say you went travelling for those 6 months... (not that I'm telling you to lie on your CV or anything. ) You've got to decide whats more important to you right now - working through your issues or holding down your job. Will

I advised him that IMHO Vortexes bought new do not have good resale value. A major reason for that is that a lot of people buy Vortexes in South Africa at a much cheaper price than he got quoted locally in pounds. Obviously this does affect the resale value of the rig if you have bought it locally in the UK. If he can find a way of buying that rig at SA prices and then getting it shipped (cheaply) to him then fine. You can suspect whatever you like about Vortex bashing, but IMHO somebody with 35 jumps who intends buying new locally would be better off buying a rig with better resale value (or buy it directly from SA).

You addressed that to myself (amongst others), yet I haven't posted to this thread since your last reply. Why are you so over-sensitive? Do you not appreciate that maybe people have your best interests at heart with the advice they give? Will PS BTW I have zero BASE jumps so please refer to me as a 'BASE wannabe' rather than a 'BASE god'.

Hmmm, Kentucky Fried Kestrel...

Dude, Australia just dropped Mark Waugh from their test side.... Nobody is really in the same league as them in Test cricket right now - lets just hope Klusener has another awesome world cup! (but none of this explains why the fuck Donald didn't run... )

Hmmm, how would you like some toothpaste up the other nostril?

The best money I've spent was on the wind-tunnel when I had about 70 jumps. It really helped me a lot with my flat-flying (specifically getting my BPA FS1 licence). It gave me a lot more confidence in flat flying. I regret overdoing coaching. I did 35 2-way coach jumps in four days. Both in terms of money spent and frustration this was very stupid of me. I should've only done about 15 and then done some some consolidation/fun jumps.

Does anybody know who the first person was to BASE jump wearing a wingsuit? (also the location). Will
-
Only 87 skydives and you were happy doing your first BASE jump with a modified skydiving rig that was "basically a big piece of crap"??? I'm not knocking you or Bridge Day here, but that just seems wrong. Will
