Well, to be fair to the Iranians, that was in response to the U.S. refusal to turn over a mass murderer (The Shah). They could had done much worst. When the Taliban refused to turn over a mass murderer (Bin Laden), we invaded two countries, installed puppet governments, and continue to bomb people who most likely had nothing to do with 9-11. Hell, I bought into the lies in 79 and joined the military. I thought that we were 100% right and that all Iranians should be bombed into oblivion. What came out later (the truth), showed exactly how wrong many of us were to take what we were told with blind faith. The U.S. should had immediately returned the Shah to face what he had coming for killing so many people while he lined his bank accounts with stolen money. The Mid East might be a much different place today had we done so. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young

There's the ruins of an old farmhouse in Big Bend National Park, called the Sublett-Dorgan house, after the two men who ran the big farm operation on the Rio Grande River bottom. The chimney in that house is massive, and made entirely out of large pieces of petrified wood. Pretty impressive http://ofmadventures.blogspot.com/2011/03/sublett-dorgan-trail.html The Woodward Ranch house fireplace http://blog.texashighways.com/?p=1287 I tell ya, you'd had to been one tough son of a bitch to live down in that desert/mountain region back in the 1800's. That means you don't actually know, doesn't it? Why bother? Christians can never give a coherent, sensible answer. They will almost always answer with a question. Never an answer. Yesterday, the door knocking Christians were out in force. An older woman and two kids about 10 years old knocked on mine. I'm very sure that she regretted that. I told them that I did not believe in imaginary people nor do I believe in a book that commands people to kill other people in the name of an imaginary tyrant. The lady kept inserting that there was nothing in the bible that commanded people to kill others. It was obvious that this misguided woman has been brainwashed by the biggest cult ever known - Christianity. The sad thing is the children who were also being brainwashed by religion. I got out my old bible and went directly to a number of passages where this imaginary friend commanded people to kill men, women, and children. She was not aware of those passages. What a joke that she was. How dare that she knock on my door and push something she knows absolutely nothing about. How dare these psychotic lunatics brainwash children. This goes for all religions, not just Christianity. She was appalled that I would denounce her imaginary friend in front of children. I am appalled that she would knock on a complete strangers door with children in tow in order to bring people into a cult! Her and her kind really do need to seek mental healthcare. I hear that anti-psychotic drugs, which reduce hallucinations and delusions and improve thinking and behavior are helpful, whether the cause is a medical or psychiatric disorder. Hope you Christians are enjoying your Pagan holiday. Have a happy Ishtar Day!! I'm done with this thread. Never been there, but I've heard of it, or at least someplace just like it. We find some agates now and then in the Big Bend parks. There's a lot of amazing geology on display, and one of our partners happens to be a geologist, so we make him explain everything to us. Your friend has most likely been there. It is the only place in Texas where Texas red plume agate can be found. Also, the only precious opal in Texas was found on the Woodward Ranch. If I'm not mistaken, I believe Cathedral Mountain is also located on the ranch. If you do go, be sure to see the fireplace in the ranch house. It is the most amazing fireplace you will ever see. Did you get a chance to visit the Woodward Ranch? http://www.woodwardranch.com/ I use to stay at the ranch whenever I was working the rails through Alpine. Sadly, Trey Woodard passed on back in March from cancer. He'd been able to tell ya about the 10 or more cases of beer that slid out the back of his truck and landed on the hood of a cop car The cop was cool about and was laughing his ass off as Trey, his brother Dave, and I were picking up cans of spraying beer at a intersection in Alpine. If you didn't visit the ranch, make a date to go next time you're in Big Bend. You'll love it. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Feeling what another may feel is empathy. Believing in a god is not. Now, answer the questions in my last post. You missed the point. I was not speaking of empathy but rather spiritual guidance. I do not believe in a god, therefore "spiritual guidance appears to be irrational to me. Would you find it irrational if I said that I had faith that Odin existed even though there is absolutely no proof? I cannot speak for others, but I love art and poetry. When working in other cities, I always made time to visit the art museums. The Smithsonian in D.C. is my favorite and the art museum in Chicago second. The Museum of Natural History in NYC is another amazing place. You should see my Edward S. Curtis Lithos "The North American Indian" Folio One Southwest Images. They are awesome. I guess those Indians went to hell, seeing that they were not good old Imaginary Friend fearing Christians. (My mother's side of the family is Cherokee. Did all of my ancestors go to Hell also?) By the way, how do you explain those dinosaur bones they have on display? They are much older than your Book of Contradiction claims the planet to be. No back peddling needed. Simple answers will do just fine. I believe, even animals feel the pain or pleasure of another, to some degree, through observation. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Maybe Bush should had done an investigation on those who artificially raise fuel prices. Time to rein in the gougers. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young

Why do you seem so angry? I'm not angry. Why do you ignore the fact that the bible is nothing more than fables? Why do you ignore the fact that Christianity has borrowed from books written before the bible? The message from the sermon on the mound can be found in the Tao. Why do Christians always use the comeback " The bible is not to be taken literally. You have to interpret it to find the true meaning." What????? If the bible says to kill people who work on the sabbath, then that is exactly what it means. Your god is instructing people to commit murder. Plain and simple. His command to kill the innocent goes directly against one of his commandments, which says not to kill. Seems that god fella is a major flip-flopper. Oh, that would be a good t-shirt: "Please ask about our complimentary tazing" COPS doesn't really show the real life on the other side of the badge. Super Troopers and Reno 911 does a much better job of it! You owe me a mouthful of Rip It Energy Fuel. Thanks. Which is immediately followed by 10 police officers slamming you to the ground yelling "STOP RESISTING" while they slam their knees into your back, a few kicks to the head, and a complimentary tazzing "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Quite a stretch saying that anything in the bible is "historical." The truth is awesome, is it not! Hallelujah! Praise be! Glad you agree. Finally, we're getting somewhere. There is hope for you, yet! "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young

Many of the Christian celebrations are taken from Pagan rituals. Have a happy Ishtar day! (Easter was named after the pagan goddess Ishtar) How convenient that you Christians can just willy-nilly change the meaning of what your imaginary friend demands. Oh well, since he is imaginary... God commanded that people kill their own family, so that he can bestow upon them a great blessing! WOW, God is a fuck nut lunatic. Compared to God, Charlie Manson is completely sane. If there really is a God, why would he be such an egotistical, blood thirsty hate monger? Kill Your Neighbors (Moses) stood at the entrance to the camp and shouted, "All of you who are on the LORD's side, come over here and join me." And all the Levites came. He told them, "This is what the LORD, the God of Israel, says: Strap on your swords! Go back and forth from one end of the camp to the other, killing even your brothers, friends, and neighbors." The Levites obeyed Moses, and about three thousand people died that day. Then Moses told the Levites, "Today you have been ordained for the service of the LORD, for you obeyed him even though it meant killing your own sons and brothers. Because of this, he will now give you a great blessing." How about we just lynch all of the fucking speculators who have artificially raised the prices in the name of greed? Treat their rotting corpses like pinatas. Spade and neuter their fucking children, just in case the greed gene might be passed on. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young

I like Atheist Jesus http://uncyclopedia.wikia.com/wiki/Atheist_Jesus Luke 4:32pm And the second Jesus twas walking in clothes untouched by powder in a many years. His hand clenched forth beer, and he slurpeth it's contents with Scottish-like glee. He talked unto a whore with words ungodly. She was up-for-it and they took refuge in abominable acts on a parketh bencheth. The Lord did say, 'At least he's not one of THEM!' In the military, you begin with "With all due respect Sir, I think you are being a fucking asshole." I said it to the XO and got away with it. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young

Seems that some of the best music came from musicians getting high. Louis Armstrong might had never wrote "What a Wonderful World" if not for his life long use of the "Beautiful Gage", as he called it.

I was gonna post that too, but you & Tom Brown beat me to it. So here's my vote for it. Same here, but then I got to thinking... there is a highly underrated live album from Gregg Allman himself, "The Gregg Allman Tour," 1974. Love the live version of "Queen of Hearts." Saw two concerts in Perth Australia in 81 Rick Steele and the Hot Biscuit Band (I'm sure you Aussies have heard of him.) They kicked out some killer blues. The woman I was with knew the band and got us back stage passes. I traded about a half ounce of weed from the Philippines for a huge hunk of Hash with one of the band members. It was a smoke out back stage. The second concert was some guy named Adam Ant. Same woman talked me into this one. I heard some of his music before going. Sucked just as bad live as it did on cassette tape. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young

The Norton engine is solid mounted on a rigid frame. The commando engines are notorious vibration monsters. The isolastic frame was designed to eliminate that problem. On the rigid frame there's no dampening the harmonics,so all of that energy rebounds through the engine. This cause premature wearing of engine components. The last rebuild, I bored and stroked her out to over 900cc. That did decrease the vibration quite a bit as she now rotates at a lower rpm, but produces near twice as much hp and torque. Part of the solution was to use an Atlas crank. She does thump hard at idle with the big cam, which is real cool at stop lights. We've had her up to the 150mph mark on the speedometer
