I prefer Sonny Barger's take on the G.R. "Treat me good, I'll treat you better. Treat me bad, I'll treat you worse." Make much more sense. There are some people that no matter how nice you are to them they will all ways treat you bad. Treat them accordingly. Aphrodite's Child, 666 (1971 Polygram International Music B.V.) Kickass album. Had my copy since 72 and found it on CD, 2 disk set, a few years back at an used CD store. The Four Horsemen And when the lamb opened the first seal, I saw the first Horse. The Horseman held a bow. Now when the lamb opened the second seal, I saw the second Horse. The Horseman held a sword. The leading Horse is white. The second Horse is red. The third one is a black, the last one is a green. And when the lamb opened the third seal, I saw the third Horse. The Horseman held a balance. Now when the lamb opened the forth seal, I saw the fourth Horse. The Horseman was the Pest. The Seventh Seal And when the lamb opened the next two seals, we saw the souls, we saw the martyrs, we heard them crying, we heard them shouting, they were dressed in white, they'd been told to wait. The sun was black, the moon was red, the stars were falling, the earth was trembling And then a crowd impossible to number carrying flowers shouted amid the hotless sun the lightless moon the windless earth the colourless sky : "How much longer will we suffer from hunger? How much longer will we suffer from thirst?" ------------------------------- And when the lamb opened the seventh seal, silence covered the sky. So bow up, get yourself a lawyer, and go collect your money if you've got all the answers you need from evolution. He's just a quack. Go take his money. It's a real offer. No matter what rock-solid proof one may have, this quack would never pay up. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young

Hard to really say. On one hand, if it is you, yourself, and you know that you are innocent then you would not want your identity in the media. On the other hand if the guy down the street just got arrested for any serious crime then yes, I would like to know what kind of person may be lurking and who that person is. But, that person may be innocent and is now being scrutinized injustly. Hard question to answer. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." If you were in that courtroom with Moussaoui, what would you do?

I think that is the general thought on this nutcase. Even Bin Laden and his insane group have tried to distance themselves from him. You got to be one seriously whacked out lunatic if a group of suicide bombers don't want to associate with you. He has a grand vision of being a martyr if put to death. Sideline his vision and give him life. Hell, even if put to death, I believe his death would go off with virtually no notice in the muslim world. He isn't even a small fish, just a nutcase basking in the limelight for a spell. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young -

Punt mine and meet your maker..... not joking Standards are actually quite aggressive dogs and huge. A lot of ignorance about poodles - I had it before my GF got one. BTW, they are basically the most intelligent dogs around. Don't use the yipy little toys as a baseline for what poodles are; they often win various agility meets, and other contests that require intense training. Listen to Frank Zappa's "The Poodle Lecture" it explains everything. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young -

This is really just a continuation of the population control thread posted by akarunway concerning Prof. Eric Pianka. The aricle was interesting enough to see what he really has to say. The first article on his web page should make you think for awhile. Nowhere however does he indicate that viruses should be released to control the population. He does, however, point out that unless we (humans) take drastic measures in the way we conduct ourselves that virus will do it for us to balance life here on earth. http://uts.cc.utexas.edu/~varanus/eric.html -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Man and His Gods Homer Smith (1952) and Balfour "Man did not have forever to harness the forces of the sun and stars. The Sun was an elderly light, long past the turbulent heat of youth, and would some day join the senile class of once-luminiferous bodies. In some incredibly remote time a chance collision might blow it up again into incandescent gas and start a new local cosmic cycle, but of man there would be no trace. In Balfours's terms, he 'will go down into the pit, and all his thoughts will perish. The uneasy consciousness, which in this obscure corner has for a brief space broken the contented silence of the universe, will be at rest. Matter will know itself no longer. 'Imperishable monuments' and 'immortal deeds,' death itself, and love stronger than death, will be as though they had never been. Nor will anything that IS be better or be worse for all that labour, genius, devotion and suffering of man have striven through countless generations to effect." MEDICAL MARIJUANA HITS STOCK MARKET by Madhavi Acharya-Tom Yew, Business Reporter, (Source:Toronto Star) Regional News 06 Apr 2006 Canada ------- It's not every company that heralds its public debut with Moses Znaimer, the co-founder of CityTV, on one side and a bag of marijuana from the Canadian government on the other. But that's exactly how Cannasat Therapeutics Inc. did it yesterday. Cannasat bills itself as one of a handful of companies in the world that is researching and developing medicines derived from cannabis plants. Executives acknowledged at a media conference that the fledgling firm faces an uphill battle on many fronts -- from the enormous cost and risk involved in developing new drugs to fighting a social stigma that conjures up images of police officers on pot busts pulling up rows of tall green plants and stoned teenagers getting "the munchies." "Does it give you a buzz?" a reporter asked at one point. "This is not about fun. It's about function," said a stern Znaimer, who serves as chairman of Cannasat's board of directors. "This is not marijuana that people come to because they're looking for a good time." Shares of Cannasat, whose symbol is "CTH", closed at 40 cents on the TSX Toronto Venture Exchange yesterday, up 15 cents from the day before. The stock has been trading on the junior exchange for about a week. Today marks the kickoff of a promotional campaign by Cannasat that's meant to raise awareness about Health Canada's Marihuana Medical Access Regulations or MMAR. The three-year-old program allows people who suffer from cancer, HIV or AIDS, multiple sclerosis and spinal cord injuries, among other conditions, to purchase cannabis from the government. Users say the drug -- possession of which is technically illegal -- works wonders in alleviating pain, insomnia, loss of appetite, often more effectively than doctor-prescribed pharmaceuticals, and with fewer side effects. About 1,100 people have registered for the government program to date, but that's believed to be a tiny fraction of medical marijuana users. Cannasat holds a stake in Prairie Plant Systems, the country's only legal medical marijuana grower and distributor, which operates under Health Canada's regulations. The company has raised about $6.5 million through private financing in the last two years. About half of that has since been spent on research and development at its laboratory in Edmonton. The focus of its work is coming up with effective drug-delivery systems. Aside from being smoked, marijuana can be absorbed through the skin, swallowed or inhaled in a nasal spray. Company officials were tight-lipped about the content of their patents and where they have been filed. "It's becoming a very competitive arena," chief executive David Hill said. Its rivals include U.K.-based GW Pharmaceuticals, makers of Sativex, an oral spray approved in Canada for treatment of MS-related pain. Cannasat is still about 18 months away from clinical trials on people, and five years or so away from bringing products to the market, said Umar Syed, vice-president scientific and strategic affairs. "Realistically we would probably need another $10 million to $15 million in the next two to three years to get us there." It hopes to eventually find a partner in a big pharmaceutical company that could handle marketing and distribution. "We're still just used to thinking of marijuana as an illicit drug. It's been really robbed of its medical benefits," said Sara Lee Irwin, Cannasat's director of public relations. She's also a licensed MMAR user. Irwin was just 32 years old when she was diagnosed with cancer in her pelvis and hip. For many of the 17 years since, she used powerful painkillers Percodan and Tylene 3, as well as Vioxx, the arthritis drug recently pulled off the market after reports that it can increase the risk of heart attack. The drugs upset her stomach and she worried about long-term effects. She turned to marijuana about two-and-a-half years ago. Irwin now gets a monthly supply delivered to her home in a gold bag for $5 a gram, a cost that she can claim as a medical expense on her income tax return. "Pain sort of sits right here and it erodes everything in your life," Lee said in an interview, holding her hands directly in front of her face. "( The marijuana ) just moves it off-centre. It's not a big gnawing, raw sore in the middle of your face. It's good to have just an awareness of it there, and it doesn't overwhelm you." Znaimer, considered a television pioneer, takes credit for planting the seeds for the company. For years, he watched friends who struggled with inflammatory bowel disease find relief using marijuana that they didn't get from their prescribed medications. He had also heard about new research that suggested cannabis plants may one day form a whole new class of pharmaceutical drugs. "I mentioned it to some other guys I know who are in the venture capital business. They're always saying, 'Hey Mose, what's the next new thing?'" Znaimer said in an interview. "One thing leads to another." Canada is one of the few countries in the world where researchers can access legally grown marijuana for research purposes, Znaimer pointed out. I haven't smoked mj in nearly 6 months. The last time was thanksgiving and was used to bring up my appetite. I have lost close to 30 pounds since. Your comments are often rude if not just down right vile and ignorant as you are not in any situation of another person. You should read one of the good books such as the Bible or the Tao Teh Ching and follow those principles that are there for a good cause. You must have so much hatred in you to be so down on people. I feel sorry for you. I have no time to argue with a closed box. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young -

So what's your plan of action? Not your plan to bitch and whine, but your plan of action. I write letters to my representatives. I support, when I can, with cash donation to NORML and other rights group, I post at a number of boards to put out the word as others do. I attend rallies when I can. I stay informed. I fully believe in the rights of the people and the right of the state not only on the medical marijuana issue ( the "war on drugs" is also a war on medical mj) but all issues concerning the right of the people. What is it that you do, other than spew hate all over this board? "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young -
I am honestly offended by your statement. The Stars and Bars is not a racist symbol it was the banner of the Confederacy. The S&B represented the 13 states, thus thirteen stars. The bars represent St. Andrew's Cross. The Confederacy did not represent racism but states rights which why the states broke away from the Union, the over-reaching arm of the Federal government. In fact, President Jefferson Davis had every intention of assimilating the slaves into society and eventually abolishing slavery. His own slaves were paid servants and made the same amount that any white person. They also owned land and their children went to school. What the Federal government did with the Emancipation Act was put a large number of un-educated people on the street with no where to go. They were not as welcomed in the North as the history books would like you to believe. Racism was alive and well more so in Northern states than it was in the South. Davis's plan was to give them rights to education and wages along with all the other rights of the people. It was the misguided, over reaching Federal government that continued a racist policy. The Confederacy opposed any policy of the Federal government enacting law upon States that were well capable of governing themselves. Most noticeable today as Federal law trumps any and all state law. So what the is point of having a state government if the laws of the people means nothing to a federal government? The Confederate flag stood for state rights, not racism. The flag does not represent hate groups such as the KKK (who used, solely, the American flag up into the 60's and still fly it along with the S&B) and the Aryan Nation. It represents the men and women whom died protecting the rights of the people and state. My ancestors died under it as did a large number of others. I proudly fly it on my property as do a large number of others. We do not at all view our heritage as racist. You should read up on the history of the thirteen states that had the balls to stand up to an over bearing federal body before , as you so often do, give an opinion that shows only ignorance on a subject. There is a conspiracy in there somewhere. NBC should do a story on how and why Bush won at Bristol. It was a sad, sad day indeed. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young

If they really want a sensational story, how about one on why there are so many Jeff Gordon fans. These people are a danger to the rest of us as their glee is shameful and degrading to society. Their lack of sportmanship is shameful to say the least. Very poor losers. Now Rusty Wallace and his team is the shinning example of how to win and lose. All should aspire to be like Rusty. (Sorry about that, I use to drink beer with Rusty once in awhile back in the mid-seventies. I have always been a Rusty fan) (Rusty fan, Now that sounds funny) "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young
-
I see nothing wrong in this as NBC points out that they are not specificly targeting any one group, merely gathering information from a wider segment of society. NASCAR should use the results to their favor and applaud their fans for not showing indifferance. What would they say if people in the stands had shouted insults or worst? They should be proud that the fans paid no mind to the color of another. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young

I take it that you did not click the link and read their argument as to why spending 69billion dollars a year and not making one single dent in the drug problem is a failure. I am also supposing that you did not listen to what the L.E.O.'s had to say in the promo video. Locking up thousands of otherwise hardworking, law abiding Americans each year has done nothing to stem the flow of drugs and has done everything to increase the profits of organized crime. You, for one, being an insurance claims adjustor, should be able to see that this is a futile policy that has wasted tax dollars clogging the legal system while creating a prison cottage industry all the while the drug problem still remains as nothing is done to actually stop the problem. The problem is not so much the drugs themselves but the legislation the was designed to not rid the streets of drugs but only to imprison those who have chosen to use. LEAP's mission is to address the problem of use and to give those who do use and those who may someday use a greater tool than what legislation offers, education and safe rehabilitation. Ask any heroin addict if they want be such and the answer would be no. Legalize these drugs, take the profit out of the blackmarket, place them into an area for safe use and educate and ween addicts safely off the drugs. Several things would happen by doing so. You reduce crime. You educate. You reduce HIV infection. You save lives. You create a safer society. Continue with current policy and nothing happens at all other than increased crime rates. Uneducated people. Incresed HIV infection. More deaths. And a more dangerous society. Exafo, closed minds such as yours is more dangerous than any drug on the street. People with such zeal to lock away society do more harm and nothing at all to stem any type of problem that society may face. You cannot simply lock people up for simple use of any substance and honestly believe that it is helping to win the so called "war on drugs". It did not work during prohibition and the proof is overwhelming that it does not work with drugs. "...And once you're gone, you can't come back When you're out of the blue and into the black." Neil Young -
