I think your reply would fir Squeeks as in Australia they want Tandem Jumping to be a "Carnival ride" for "Punters". This would then mean a new title for the Tandem Instructors, as they would not be Instructors, nor Tandem Masters for that matter. But that is Australia, I wouldn't worry about it. Matt Sorry bro, you're confusing Squeak for me. FYI I'm from NZ - and they're "units' now. And I don't know why all you Americans get so uptight about it. Get over it. Guess it's a cultural / ego thing. All fun aside, they are Students, it says so on the UPT Harness. Plus it was the intent of both Bill and Ted, I not only have read this from them but spoke with them both at length I when was working ont eh Parachutist Article for USPA and with some of the BOD to try and level out all the requirements. Now, if the decision is that Tandem Jumping is to be a cash and carry carnival ride, I can live with that too, IF: Tandem Instructors lose the Title of Instructor (accept for in the other fields they may be rated in), they should then be called a Tandem Jump Operator, and since they would then be jumping for hire, treated as a pilot for hire. Sorry to bump an old thread...was searching something else and saw this, missed it the 1st time. ~Hey Matt, Nashville...THAT was YOU?! Small freakin' world!! On the 5 o'clock news and every thing. But, yeah, wow! talk about a thread resurrection! Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

Duane had a hidden magnetic personality, and when he turned the charm on, he was well liked by everyone. When he planked your wife he was not appreciated much. Window peeper, small-time criminal with a dynomite smile. Now that makes no sense. Why would the GOV use him then? Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

Voluntarily maybe! History ran a show on the program again last weekend. Pretty good details of who they used and how they "recruited" them. Plus, a neat expose on the myth the whole programs records being destroyed. They destroyed a lot, but missed over 12,000 pages. So many pages they allegedly have the names of every GOV participant. University, Doctor, Mental Ward, etc that participated. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

The reason pilots have reported more than mild weather is that the whole operation was executed by pilots as a group. The FAA was the primary supporter and almost ALL of the participants were pilots. Some were even parachutists and riggers. Hemmelsbach, O'Hara, Haapala, all these guys were PILOTS! (Except NIxon I guess.) Pilot support pilots here. It was a giant game with the airlines and government. Cooper HAD to escape. The Hague Convention, the Montreal Convention, etc. If you look at your history of the FAA you will see the progression right up to Nixon's Executive Order instituting Rataczak's, et. al., wild ass dreams. Yah-da-yah-da-yah-da. http://en.wikisource.org/wiki/Author:Richard_Nixon/Executive_orders Which one should we read? And you're Correct, President Nixon was not a pilot, his Special Assistant was, with 21 years of Navy Piloting experience. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. No thanks. We had a 20 round box of 5.56 get tossed in to a burn pit, in Iraq. One dude had minor surgery when hit by the exploding rounds. It can be harmful, they can be harmless, play the odds any way you want. Me I will avoid the situation. But legislation for an amount of ammunition allowable? Silly. See post #10. It is an RSL with the ability to use the main, but will act as a "normal" rsl/reserve deployment if the PC catches enough air. I think this is just ax grinding, or jealousy. Stupid really, the system works. Didn't we have this same argument 15 years ago about RSL's too? Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

I agree, looks to me like it is working "as advertised". I see no need for the OP to grind an ax over it. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

Yada. Yada. Yada. Proof please. Is this "Mac" the same one in the video I linked? Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

Sure we do, Bleepins. He pulled on ten seconds count after going down the stairs face first, wapping his right leg on the railing. You just don't listen! Of course, your input would be incorrect, just on general orders... Ask Mac. Well, he has more contracts out on him than you can count, so he probably won't talk to you anyway. Ask Jerry he knows everything. Speed at the jump was probably at 175 knots or less, elevation at 10,000 feet or so, winds per Robert99. Flight path is correct as reported except 15 miles off to the West of where they say it was. Jump happened a few seconds after the question, "How's everything going back there? Anything we can do for you?" or something to that effect. One, two, three... Ten seconds later the chute is pulled. I think he was a little early and had to hike a ways which warmed him back up. Pulling early is normal when counting in your head in a high stress situation (like the High Jacking), "1 Mississippi" is not 1-mmmmiiiiiissssssssssiiiiissssssssiiippppppppi" it is more like "1-misipi". (Nixon wasn't a a Pilot, but his special Advisor was, 2o~ years of Navy Flight Training and flying experience, and his assistant had special duties to oversee, one of which was Airline safety) Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So if I had a current coach rating but needed three more "coach" jumps for my renewal, I could go do three jumps with my s/o, say I was "coaching" him and I'd be good to go. Sweet! Could I have done the same thing to renew my AFF rating? If not, why not? Do whatever the fuck you want. I had the question, I asked USPA, that's the answer I got. Don't like it? Bring it up with someone that gives a shit, because today, I don't. Testy, testy. One of them thar spring loaded Pilot chutes get ya? The answer for the AFF question is: AFF instruction or AFF recurrency with a E or I/E. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

You raise a reasonable point. But in all fairness and balance, I also happen to know (with specific certainty) that the Bush Administration, too, repeatedly blocked judgment-holders against Iran in terrorism cases from collecting on the judgments against frozen Iranian assets located in the US. So it's not just an Obama Administration policy, it's a long-standing American policy. True, if he had posted "Bush said what?" I would have looked for a Bush link, this one fell into my lap though. I think it is wrong no matter who blocks it. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

Are they ever going to eliminate this disaster?

It is No excuse though. We lost two camera's for work by a TSA inspection, Cop's even told us they believed (99% probability) it was TSA "Agents". Agents even put a seal on the camera box after they opened it. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!! -

Well, part of it was waiting for McCoy to arrive from Utah, where he was finishing dinner..... He followed in a helicopter and is depicted in the FBI film of the re-enactment. Watch it. I posted the picture of McCoy's stand-in actor for that film once here already. (SEE BELOW) Not very well coordinated fabrication when somebody wants to be famous and the rest want to meld into the woodwork. Famous, infamous, he didn't care much. Tommy Gunn. Richard Floyd McCoy, Jr., Captain Tommy Gunn. Rauhl with an eye patch. He SAID he was gunna be famous!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AvTk5AQVYas&feature=related This film? 1. You need a better example than Germany? 2. how about: * May 1996, Australia banned most semi-automatic rifles and semi-automatic and pump shotguns. Prior to this law, many Australian states and territories had firearms registration. Owners of these newly outlawed firearms were required to surrender them * NYC. A registration system enacted in 1967 for long guns, was used in the early 1990s to confiscate lawfully owned semiautomatic rifles and shotguns * New Zealand. They had some form of firearms registration since 1921. In 1974, all revolvers lawfully held for personal security were confiscated * California revoked a grace period for the registration of certain rifles (SKS Sporters) and declared that any such weapons registered during that period were illegal * Since 1921, all lawfully-owned handguns in Great Britain are registered with the government, so handgun owners have little choice but to surrender their guns in exchange for payment according to government schedule. Need more? You rather face the bad guys with a stick or an AR? Even fewer will stand up if they know they are going to get slaughtered Thanks for the info, out side the US matters little when discussing the 2nd Amendment though. I for one exercise my 2nd Amendment rights daily. I think the Gun owners in NY and CA failed them selves by not pressing the issue up to the Supreme Court, and by not voting out, those who think it is OK to ignore the Constitution and its Amendments. I am seeing that Registration has been used for less than ideal purposes, I also see it is a double standard by those who ask for gun registration but not other forms. those jackboots are a good fit. you can strut in them with pride... You're way off the mark there bub! Since when, can't I protect my home and property against a bunch of low-life leeching scum? In this country, I have the right to keep and bear arms and the right to protect what's mine. If, you don't like that, it's too damned bad. Anyone who supports these 'occupiers' is on the same level and they aren't 'entitled' to a damned thing. Chuck so you're calling me a cockroach too... (all that hate billvon - lap it up) Where, in any of my posts, did I call you, personally, a 'cockroach'? You and your twisting words to start a bunch of shit is getting real old. I find what you post, inflamatory and inciteful. So, slow-down there dood! Chuck True, that is what he does and how he acts, the upside is normal and cooler heads tend to prevail and have a good discussion about the topic, no matter how off base he is when it starts. The Oakland issue is odd. The OWS/Oak folks say the buildings are abandoned, yet in doing minimal research so far the ones claimed as abandoned are not, they are open for rent or sale. problem with unsigned jumps in logbook when going for ratings?

There is waste to lose. It also requires looking at "entitlements" and "perks". But, for example, there would be millions a quarter saved if they revamped the TDY (Temporary Duty) regulations when it comes to food. Pay a COLA for the difference between the persons home station and Temp assignment and there is ~$30 a person per day saved. Have all fours Services use the same Camo uniforms (Again) and same color "accessories" (Again) it worked for 200+ years why, not now? Cut the Coast Guard to Search and Rescue of US Waters. All their weapons can be reused by the DOD, FED LEO's. Use VTC for all meetings that are not Ultra Sensitive, or are not a "hearing" on the Hill. In the US all higher ups can fly Commercial with a small Protection Detail (If Warranted). No need to keep fueling 727's for one dude and his staff to go play golf and meet with a few guys for an hour. Put more Contracts on place for things like Information management and production. Put the contracts out for the cost the GOV currently does it MINUS the Benefits for staff. There is plenty of waste to cut. But getting the ideas up to the top fellow, usually gets trashed by a person who benefits personally from the current set up. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety.
