  1. It's obvious that a very large subset of the U.S. population doesn't understand how percentages are calculated, let alone marginal tax rates. Including posters here. What is just as sad is that FB, MS, and other social media "factoids", seem to be what we are using to make "educated" statements and votes. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. 2. Here's what we DO know: 1. Holmes purchased all of the guns, ammo, and equipment he needed legally. 2. There's no government database that would have alerted law enforcement about what he might have been up to. 3. Nobody in law enforcement ever questioned him about why he needed to purchase 100 round magazines. 4. Holmes had no problem transporting his arsenal without government interference. You can thank the NRA for this situation. They so are feared by every politician in the U.S. that none of them will even think about proposing legislation that would at least help law enforcement to detect such purchases in the future. No, you can blame one crazy person. You can not legislate us into the world you want to live in. It will never happen. If it were possible to legislate something to the point that you couldn't put your hands on it there would be no drugs available in this country right now. I'm not a drug user but I could bet you $100 I could leave the house now and be back in an hour with at least 3 different types of illegal drugs. This has absolutely nothing to do with the drug war. I think it's a matter of time before the tide turns and assault weapons will be banned. We're not going to give up. The drug war is an utter waste of LEO and Funds, just like an all out ban would be, in the end those with no regard for law will still find the way to break it. The NRA did not create the Aurora Incident, but they do make a good scape goat, since addressing the individual, and his mental state and criminal motivation, would be anti PC. 3. "Deadly assault weapons have no place in Massachusetts. These guns are not made for recreation or self-defense. They are instruments of destruction with the sole purpose of hunting down and killing people.”; Governor Mitt Romney, 2004 Time for another shake of the Etch-a Sketch? A 2004 quote, not in context with what I wrote, about how they are acting, today. The POTUS has said words to the same effect himself, but again it is not what I was writing about and to quote it would be out of context. What was the point of your post, please? Matt How is it not in context? You wrote about calls for banning assault weapons. Romney's quote was about banning assault weapons. Just another example of how Romney will speak out of either side of his mouth in order to get votes. Just like the POTUS. You left out the part where the two of them are not directly talking about banning any thing, but grieving. It is out of context with my post, but in context with your view, so I guess I understand why you went right to Romney, but he is not the Governor who misspoke today. 4. And you can't discount the argument that had there been several trained, armed, legal carry citizens, present in the theater they might have started shooting and made the situation ten times worse. I do not believe I have stated any thing against that. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!

  6. You gotcha nothing. You twist facts then hold others to your twisted standards. Fine. You believe your convolutions. Don't let me mess up your 'facts' with my truth. They mix, but not in your mind. Make up another lie like Matt and his paste-up, then ask a non-related question and claim satisfaction. Whatever turns your cranks. I tell the truth. I do not make up lies to intimidate anyone. What a snake pit this is becoming. Honest people can't get a cup of coffee here anymore. Guess I proved the second of my original points. (1) "Blast" was an attempt at misdirection by the "Cooper Crew," leader un-named but known. (2) DMZ Cooper is an organized den of cover-uppers intent on burying the truth. There is no possibility of ANYTHING real and truthful being acknowledged on this forum at any length. You even chase away talented law enforcement posters. Proven by post after post of lies and underhanded cronyism, false evidence, intimidation, threats, belittling, etc. Our Government at work? I hope not. FBI for certain. Rotten. More of the same old shit. Nothing changes. Power corrupts absolutely? If power doesn't corrupt then those who are corruptible seek power. In either case, the result is the same. I said so. It is your words, it was a screen shot, not a cut and paste. You got caught, and now cant own up to it. Move along now, adult are talking. Funny how a now dead guy, got a guy out of prison before he even hot puberty! Stop calling my posts paste jobs, they are real, and factual, unlike yours, which are false and libelous. I am glad there are lawyers watching this thread now, they may not salve the crime, but they will help keep it on track by removing the chaf. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. 7. Recently released inmates say that he won't make it in Gen Pop. So he will be held in Solitary for the pretrial, trial and if found guilty, in prison. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  8. What about your fellow Americans, who hate your country so much that they openly wipe their asses with your precious Bill of Rights right here in this topic? Good question, why would they want to live in a place they hate so much? If they think it is so bad, they should find the place to live that makes them happy. 9. So far no evidence to his being able to react to return fire with out distraction. Even those of us with multiple combat tours still react to return fire. I agree, an arm chair commando is not going to be able to do much. And in this case maybe they add to the mess. But o would not discount the argument that one, trained, armed legal carry citizen might have made a positive impact. Today, ABC, with its roundtable, called for the banning of all "assault" weapons, all "Clips" (the Governor doesn't know it is a Magazine) holding more than 10 "bullets", and for all "Automatic" guns. The media and politicians (both sides) have jumped on this and are now rolling along at full tilt to advance their agenda, what ever it may be. The two major Presidential Candidates, are doing it by proxy. Personally, this guy was going to commit murder, no matter what, and it appears he wanted a higher count but miss timed and misunderstood his neighbors reactions. It is going to be a bumpy ride if your for Gun Control you just got a few new backers, if you exercise your 2nd Amendment Rights, you're a militant domestic terrorist in waiting. 10. That's your conclusion. I did not say that. "PM message from Bob Knoss when asked: "Who is TOG?" Answer From Bob Knoss: "Bill Rataczak (DO NOT REPEAT THIS) " "I am legally limited to what I can say" Bob, you claim it was illegal what they did, it would then be Legal to speak about it. The post you just quoted was a paste up of an answer to two questions and is mis-represented as outlined previously. You post a flagrant forgery of a conversation. Depending upon who is holding the opinion. It is not MY call. The call is made by people who get paid to prosecute, and they are more than biased. They don't make the decisions, juries do, they just go after anything that smell funny. Like you do. Have you had a rabies shot? It was one question and one answer, directed to you and answered by you. You got caught lying, own up to it and move on, enjoy the rocker and watch the sunsets, the gig is up old man. It doesn't mean Duane isn't "Cooper", just your story is a fake. A well run in to the dirt full of liable, fake. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  11. By Newton's third law, the momentum from being hit by the bullet is identical (actually slightly less) to the momentum of the recoil. Does the recoil from a 9 mm or a .40 cal. "knock the shit out of" you? If the shooter is already positioned to handle the recoil of the guns he's shooting, then, if he's wearing body armor, bullets hitting him from the front won't necessarily knock him down. Interesting, but it seems not to line up with reality, but we have seen a small caliber rifle round "knock 'em on their ass" as well as larger pistols (.40+). Chris is trying to say that being hit, ineffective as it may be in regards to lethality, will distract the shooter, just like we get distracted when rounds zip by. In this scenario would it have worked? dunno, I wasn't here. But the shooter seems to have no return fire experience, so it may have been some thing. Of course having a Pro-mask would have even things up a bit better. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  12. Don't get me wrong; I won't lose any sleep if he's put to death. I just don't believe the justice system should be about vengeance. Noble ideal, but it pretty much always has been and to a certain extent always will be. Ideally, I'm guessing, you'd just want to see the guy separated from society, placed in a box where he can no longer do any harm. I want the same thing...just that yours is made of concrete and steel, while mine is made of pine. I also think its actually less cruel on a planetary karmic scale. If this guy lives another 60 years, then the survivors will carry a wish for this guy's death for 60 years and the guy himself will be sitting in a box knowing he'll never do another thing until he does die. Why waste the time? Get it over with and be done with it. This question of death penalty or life without parole should be the normal discussion for normal situations; "do we have the right guy?" There's absolutely no question we have the right guy here. Again, just get it over with. Under our system the man deserves a fair and impartial trail with the best defense possible. If that means the state of Colorado has to tap Johnny Cochran to come in as Public Defender than so be it. That will be costly, but a major scientific break through! 13. His rights end where the peoples' civil rights begin. For instance he can't bar entry to people who aren't white. We already worked this out. He can refuse to allow weapons in the theater, and they do, in numerous states, even though they are a Texas based Company. Plus, I think we are talking about the Bill of Rights, apparently they are limited. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  14. Reduced aiming ability and innocent bystanders change the equation. A tactical egress, some times is the only option that allows you to control your destiny. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  15. Yes. That's an understatement. But not impossible, since we used to do it annually. We used to be allowed to use CS on training exercises and would have to maneuver through it on live fire, with our Pro masks, so is it ideal no, but it is possible. Matt Nope. Sorry. You're not taking into account that moviegoers don't typically have a mask, being taken completely by surprise, the room crowded with panicking innocent bystanders, and (possibly) the low light conditions. I didn't make that narrow of a focus, you're now making that the focus. It is still not impossible, improbable sure. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. 18. Many news sources sight that, as well as saying he had died red hair. ABC quoted his mother, she said they had the right guy, she knew in her gut he did it (paraphrased). So the signs might have been there and the family didn't act or he hid the signs and no one knew. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  19. "(5) Nothing in this part 2 shall be construed to limit, restrict, or prohibit in any manner the existing rights of a private property owner, private tenant, private employer, or private business entity." Thanks. That clears the public/private question. But, I do agree with the right of private property owners to disallow weapons on their property if that is their choice. It just doesn't appear to be against the law to carry on their property in spite of those rules. But, if they ask you to leave and you don't you would then be illegally trespassing. Am I wrong in understanding that #5 is the Statute/Law and if you carried, you would be violating that? I agree with you. I agree they get the choice to make that call, but don't agree with the call. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  20. http://www.lexisnexis.com/hottopics/Colorado/ C.R.S. 18-12-214 #5 I think applies. Again, I do not agree, but it is their right as property owners. But to some, they seem to have failed their patrons, there is already lawsuit talk on the web, seems every incident the "sue them" chant is a real close second to the actual issue. 21. If it is not a public building are you saying the owner has no rights of his own? Wouldn't that be like me carrying a gun in your house, and you have no say against it? I do not agree with their decision to exclude fire arms, they made it for their reasons, but it is their right as the owner. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. 22. in regards to #3, is the theater a "Public" building? Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  23. But I'll bet the training helped, just like training helps in dealing with malfunctions. I've been tear gassed, very lightly (an idiot security guard at a concert who thought tear gas was the way to keep people from getting too close to the gate when the band was late starting -- I was about 25-30 rows back I think). It was unpleasant in the extreme, and I was completely unprepared for it, and I wasn't that close. I'd've been able to react eventually, but only after figuring that whatever had happened was tear gas or something like that. I can totally see where training would help some people, and where it could incapacitate others, depending on the situation. But even those who aren't incapacitated would take longer to deal with the situation unless they'd trained for just such a scenario. Note: the guard was fired on the spot, but not made to exit the stadium through the crowd. No one was seriously injured, because there was a nice breeze that way which dissipated it pretty quickly. Wendy P. But of course we are just "what if"-ing the situation to death. Facts is a murderer planned and carried out a mass murder. He appears to have been alone and had no connections at the time to any politics. That isn't stopping the Anti-Gun crowd, Pro-Gun crowd, Tin Foil hat wearers, and what ever else is out there, from trying to use this for their own political and personal gain. 24. As well as Putting "TOG" right on the middle again, and we know who "TOG" is, according to him. Funny how the "lack of evidence"-evidence, conflicts with the facts. Matt An Instructors first concern is student safety. So, start being safe, first!!!
  25. Yes. That's an understatement. But not impossible, since we used to do it annually.
