You are correct. There is more of a society bias toward breast cancer. The incidences are closely matched source, however the mortality rate for breast cancer is higher. but there should be more of a public awareness toward prostate cancer. Guys should have thiers checked more.... (but that's a WHOLE different thread )

I notice that Peter hasn't yet responded... maybe he's out basing "YOUR" building.

Jaye, I'm so sorry to hear about your friend. 36 is WAY TOO YOUNG for all of this. (not that any age is a good age fro cancer) For information and clarification: Detecting and Treating Breast Problems - published by the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologist states In those under 40-50, most breast lumps are benign (NOT cancer) so the routine screening with mammograms is not recommended. HOWEVER - IF you have risks (as noted above. . . but you say your friend didn't) or abnormal findings (lumps, abnormal reports) PLEASE encourage your doctor to be assertive in checking these out - even if you have to "convince" insurance that it's a covered benefit or pay out of pocket. It's "unlikely" to be breast cancer... but as you know, not impossible. It's really hard to second guess what could have been the outcome if your friend had gotten early diagnosis and management. It sounds like quite an aggressive tumor.... I wish her well.

Happy Birthday, Peter!! Take in a Show! I've heard that the locals LOVE Grease! (It actually was a cute show... but I was more amuse by how you seemed horrified by the thought of going to such a tourist play ) May this year bring you challenges and conquests! Trial and success! ADVENTURE! Enjoy!

New show on USA - not that I have time to ACTUALLY watch it - but interesting thought premise. If you were dumped someplace - no social security card, no credentialing, no accounts.... no "you".... what would you feel about that? COOL! Start a new life with your skills and smarts. HORRIFIED! You have "nothing" from your efforts of the past.

Yes. ditto.

I dont often pay attention to the screen names, i flick through posts and reply according to what i read not who wrote it (generally) there are a select few who I respond to personaly I do the same thing. .. that is why I have no clue who LisaH is talking about, when she talks to me about this place, and especially when she uses names instead of display names! Who? Oh.. wait. I ignore her.

This is a very hard question... and in fact one that I ask myself daily. I would like to promise you that tomorrow, or in a month or maybe a year... or two... or four years, 3mos and 1wk later... that the pain will ease. That the hollow will somehow fill. That it will all be "ok." But I can't promise anything of the sort. The only thing that I CAN tell you is that friends and support make the days survivable. Please lean on them. The first year tears you completely apart. You will be fine one moment and then wanting to scream at the sun for rising the next. You will attempt to understand the "deeper meaning" of the event... and then turn away from the One that "caused" this pain. Depression and Anger are part of this time. Things to help you: Just know that he doesn't want you in pain, your smile is important... that all the shit you stir up is shit that he was cheated out of stirring, so you need to enjoy it for both of you... that you will, at some point, be back with him again. edited to make you

I read that and just thought "you're right. You just send them to Australia!" (I know it's a pop off comment... but it amused me.)

About YOU!!! You KNOW that he meant me!!

I taught my stepson to drive. So... his bad habits are my creation. I was stationed in South Dakota and the age of permits there is 14, so I would take him out on the back roads and teach him how to drive. When he went back to Wisconsin, his mother HATED being in the car with him (and he didn't like her being there either) and there was all kinds of nervous tension and white knuckles and yelling. But... when he was driving with me, he was calm, and (generally) would do as I recommended (you might want to slow down now... there's probably a cop up there) I liked teaching him.

Yes, it might. I just wonder why? It's not like you gonna be anathematized because of voicing your pro-opinion. Maybe it is because it doesn't look "morally right", and therefore affects the "good Christian" self-image :P But why vote at all then? I don't think that someone would be belittled for voicing a pro choice decision, but then again, I don't consider myself a "good Christian"
