  1. Yes. But not as an excuse NOT to do what I should. Meaning that if something bad happens because of a DECISION that you made, blaming that on fate is a cop out. But... some of the people that I've met have been encounters by luck. And having met them, it HAS influenced my life and changed my course. Is that thanks to the fates? Infinite branches. And infinite realities. And in 50 or 100 or more years, we might have a better understanding of the reality around us. Right now, I can't imagine how to jump between the realities, but perhaps in the future we will have a way. We're ALL going to die. Whether it's in 3 years or 30 or 300 (although I wouldn't want to live another 300 years!!!) I prefer to plan ahead for a "future" but I acknowledge that I don't ultimately control the outcome. I enjoy the challenge of each day.... know that at anytime it honestly could be my last. Would knowing the real "when" change anything? Hard to say.... but I would like to think that I could answer "no"
  2. yes. Although I haven't jumped in a year... so what does that say about my sanity? I find it odd that so many people consider skydiving to be associated with a "death wish" when in my reality it helps to tie me more to this life. It awakens and enlivens me. It makes me smile. That one minute of FOCUSED freefall when I don't think about anything but that minute.... it resets the chaos in my mind.
  3. Gonzo. It's not all about you. They were talking about ME! I am normal.
  4. I have to admit. I was wondering how the hell did he hit the "8" instead of an "s" in sushi?! Hell... it's even a different HAND!
  5. BUT...... what if I want to come back?! if I promise not to break nuffin? please......... [eye batting icon thingie]
  6. Thanks again, everybody! (I still am a bit psyched... hopping a bit when I think of it... random smile.... yeah, it's cool!! )
  7. OK...... Are all the guys DEAD?! Why isn't this thread flaming? And no demands that this thread is useless without........ everybody sleeping?
  8. ya know.... colposcopy wasn't one of the words nor was salpingo-oopherectomy. So much for all those big words that I learned in my attempt to sound smart.
  9. OK... that's WAY funny!!! Wednes noc, huh?
  10. Thanks LisaH, and lippy (the penthouse letter was under a nom de plume), and Billy, and LuckyMcSwervy, and Chuck, and Dana (and for any reason!!), and Brandon (young padewan), and dede (I will definitely call next time I'm in FL and we will have to get together! I'll bring a copy... ummmm... ok, maybe not. It's a bit heavy being a 2800page text), and Robert (a whole chapter ABOUT you?! How cool! ), and guppie, and shermie, and squeak, and gene (its cheese curds), and Jerry (the brilliant and now aged counsellor) and Mike (go to www.m-w.com) and stitch (again... different pen name!) I'm just so happy that I could hop!!! (I did make a snow angel earlier today!)
  11. Then don't remorse. Just enjoy!! And a camera like that could be used for many other uses as well!! (Like taking pictures of cool pathology)
  12. Fucking AWESOME. Maybe I'll learn something from you one of these days after all. I have lots to teach, young grasshopper.
  13. OK... so it's only a chapter in a medical book. But it's a really cool book!!! Civetta, Taylor, & Kirby's Critical Care Chapter 99 is all ME!
  14. I'm torn here at what to say. On the one hand - you deserve to have something for all the hours, pain and sacrifice..... But (Mom talk coming) don't be spending it like a fool. Yes, you'll be making a bit in just a short time. But how much is your student loans? And malpractice insurance isn't cheap! (trust me on that one)
  15. Very interesting. Few questions to think about How would an EMP effect the weapon? Could "good guys" (ie cops, children, ect) carry something to make them recognized by the system as a "no shoot"? How easy would it be for "bad guys" to override such programing? (I wish that they would have been at the SHOT show)
  16. Ah yes.. if anyone disagrees with you WE HATE AMERICA...we are UNPATRIOTIC... No.. SOME of us are able to see beyond our little backyard in flyover land and see where we are in the world. In a global economy it is imperative that we play well with others... I know you cant seem to comprehend that in flyover land.. but scaring and pissing off most of the world does not make for a good climate to do business in. The policies of the last 7 years were counter productive to our interests. It really does sadden me that there are so many people in this country who are incapable of seeing that the actions of a few people who YOU put in power have damaged this country so greatly. You can disagree all you want. Debate and discourse are what SHOULD make this country great. We SHOULD NOT be all on the same page.... but to just constantly bad mouth and insult does not help with fixing any problem. Should something be done at gitmo? Yes. But a qualified yes. Some of the people are RIGHTFULLY there. Others have had their liberties stripped for NOTHING but a McCarthism type witch hunt. How about a FAIR AND EQUITABLE trial held by heads of states of all the countries involved in the UN decision? Looking at the FACTS of each person.... not rumor or beliefs. Not a kangaroo court, but a world review of "prisoners of war." An offer like that would be far more helpful than taking "great pleasure" in failures.
  17. Ouroboros has turned... I look forward to the next 4 years of "I told you so".
  18. +1 We voted them in. We allowed ourselves to be lulled by rhetoric and infomercials. And then we are surprised when reality isn't as amazing as promised?!
  19. Can I help Yeah. Cuz that attitude really helps. Uh in case you have not been keeping up.. I was fully in support of OUR PRESIDENT after 9/11, and so was MOST of the WORLD. But face it.. with the Bush Administrations(Oil Boys) decision in 2002 to wade into the quagmire that was and IS IRAQ...almost unilaterally, they BLEW it... and young americans have paid for it. The WORLD turned all of that support for the US after 9/11 into scorn for the US because of a group of men who were out to make a name for themselves in history.... they did a great job of doing that... their name is now MUD for how NOT TO RUN A WAR OR A COUNTRY. Some of us tried to point that out for 5 years... all the while... we STILL had the dead enders supporting the GOAT FUCK STUPID failed policies no matter what kind of new stupidity they came up with. I have been keeping up. But to take "great pleasure" in repeatedly bad mouthing America and yelling "I told you so" over and over and over is quite sophomoric, doncha think? I don't think that attitude helps. You seem to think otherwise.
  20. LawRocket. You're now.... 22, right? May your youthful appearance and childlike excitement with life never grow old. May this year bring you LOVE, FRIENDSHIPS AND ADVENTURE!!
  21. Can I help Yeah. Cuz that attitude really helps.
  22. No, I identify as a Moderate, Libertarian Party, but I do *not* support the use of torture (including but not limited to waterboarding) by the US.
  23. Ya know... it's quite similar to a hotel that I (we) stayed in over New Years 20 some years back by Devils Head. The fuzzy carpet on the walls was very entertaining!!
  24. And no. I'm not saying that people should be chained like animals. Nor should animals be chained. And pit bulls can be nice and good pets if they are raised with respect and treated kindly..... So... no flaming on those points.
  25. It shouldn't be expected to, but could do so if it does not adversely impact our Best Interests (to paraphrase one of our American friends on here). Ya know. When Americans say that, we're viewed as evil and selfish and lectured on Whole World mentality. When non-Americans say that, it's ok. Parallel this to yelling at your neighbor for animal cruelty. Lets say he keeps mean pit bulls chained in his front yard. Yelling and demanding that things change. So he releases all the dogs. They go and bite and do what mean dogs do. And... if one of your children gets bit... it's still going to be the neighbors fault. Questions to consider: 1. Why was he keeping the pit bulls? 2. Where SHOULD they go? 3. If the neighbor THINKS he/she could take better care, why doesn't he/she OFFER assistance and not just bitch and moan? It's easy to criticize. Much harder still to offer aid. 4. If they do end up hurting others once released.... is it the neighbors "fault" or the dogs "fault" or the one that demanded the release?
