Don't show up wearing more make up and a hat bigger than hers Bring Rhum. (that should be all the advice needed.... )

Just to answer that question above (not to bust on Mrs. Obama) Because when so many are claiming that we are in a horrible economy, when the government debt is being printed on paper not worth the value, when times are tight Don't spend money on frivolities. A nice way to think about it is if you only have $5 to spend, would you spend it on flour or flowers? Now... in defense of Mrs. Obama, I would be interested to know if this make-up artisy is truly on the government expense tab or if Mrs. Obama is paying for this out of her personal finances. She has some funding in her own right and if this is out of her pocket, who are we to complain at all?

I guess that would be better than the Dread Pirate Karen.... No one would ever surrender to the Dread Pirate Karen.

I'm kinda surprised that it wasn't somehow reported as a ship "capsizing" like before... ya know... I want to be a pirate when I grow up, but I will be a nice pirate. So.... nobody shoot me or capsize my boat, m'kay?!

Not that I would know anything about this, but I've heard that it's easy for a 20year old with a cute bra, a crisp white shirt, a short skirt and a smile to go to an O club and find herself a pilot.

Propaganda like this states why some believe that you shouldn't own a firearm: If I only had a gun And... YES. I did call it propaganda - the spreading of ideas, (mis)information, or rumor for the purpose of helping or injuring an institution, a cause. And I do believe that this episode of 20/20 was scripted and timed to coincide with likely up coming legislation proposals. Speculation on my part? yes, but we'll see . . . . Too many people depend on the media to tell them what to think....

I think that that is the difference. The POTUS is directly responsible for the direct intervention in peoples lives across the world. Thanks to the mess that the US banking system created the whole world is now in a reccesion. How the US is governed has a direct effect on millions of non US citizens around the world. That entitles everyone to an opinion American or not. You are of course correct that his first responsibility is to the people of the USA but he also has a much wider responsibility to others around the world. You are right, we do have impact on other countries. But, my opinion is that the POTUS shouldn't be responsible for the direct intervention the lives of peoples of foreign countries. We, as a nation, have been chastised for that, and rightfully so. In the last 20-50years, we have interfered with the ruling of other governments. That was a mistake that I think we should learn from. I'm not saying that we should go all the way back to isolationism, but stepping back from being ether the world police or the worlds superstar should be considered. The US is broke (both financially and as a "spiritual body" - if a country can be called that) President Obama would do better to stay stateside for a bit and fix things here. One could argue that that is what he is doing by going to other countries and begging for money, credit, ect... but the other option that he has is staying here and working on the relationships with his citizens. Yes, there might be some official meetings and conferences... but some of his visits look more like showboating on the taxpayers dime ... when we don't have the dimes to throw around looks a bit silly. It's not a world popularity contest. He has a job. I just wish that I could trust that he is doing that.

In my above comment, I even bolded your comments that insinuate that those who don't share your opinion must only be impressed by sabre-rattling. Not so respectful there. Again... not so respectful. I point out that you do have your opinion, but ultimately how WE feel about OUR President and our confidence in his ability is more important than how he is doing on a world wide popularity contest and you compare that opinion to a teenage girl. Very respectful. I'm glad that you are happy with your elected officials. But since I didn't vote for her and since she makes no policy in my neighborhood, I see no reason to insult or praise her. Again... not quite respectful. I think you just ended up proving my point with that post.

Somehow... I knew would like it. How can you NOT like it... it clearly demonstrates a pinard maneuver!!!

Hi there, Chuck! Exactly that. Class! Both of them. If her a** is too fat for some guys or not does not really count. Both of them show brain, style and class. And having a look at his career, he's a bit more than just a "salesman". I still wonder why so many of your fellow countryman disliked it from the beginning (f.e. his 1st visit to Germany) that Europeans seem to accept him. Perhaps sabre-rattling is more impressive for these folks? Making a lot of noise does not show superiority. A "Mission accomplished" tooting under false terms no longer is convincing. Obama was NOT coming to Europe as a solicitant but, with many requirements towards Europe and as the delegate of the US. Apparentely, not everybody knows it. He is representing his country in a clever way. Give him a vote of confidence. Christel, I would thank you for giving my opinion the respect that you seem to think that you deserve.... but you don't give my opinion any respect so no thanks are due. As far as President Obama goes: Some people like him. Some are more guarded. I am concerned about the direction that he seems to be taking my country. If you like him, fine. But... he is NOT your President. He is mine. And his FIRST responsibility is to the "We, the People." WE, the United States citizens, elected him. So, although you think he's cool, that is not nearly as important as whether WE think he's truly moving this country in a direction that WE want it to go. I don't complain about or critique Prime Minister James Gordon Brown. I tend to keep my opinion in check about Queen Elizabeth II. I don't review the works of President Kohler nor should I. President Alvaro COLOM Caballeros is responsible to the people of Guatemala. Emperor Akihito is ruling in Japan and NOT signing law that directly impacts my life, so I have no voice in his decisions. I tend not to stick my nose into other countries politics... especially when I don't understand or give respect to the members of that country. But, thinking back... I do believe that MANY on this forum were complaining about US interference in other countries leadership in the not so distant past. So... which is it? Or is it that YOU get to decide when YOU like our leaders.... but we, as a nation as a whole, get blamed when our leadership doesn't like others. You are right that it is important to play well with others. And maybe President Obama is putting on a good show.... but maybe there's more to the opinions of others than you give credit.

I accept that some believe that - wouldn't be fun if we all thought the same.... but compared to the last one (who really did do loads of damage and not only to America!!). OB looks for now to be doing O.K. Also it's worth remembering that OB did NOT get the country into the state that it currentloy is - someone((s) else did but he at least is trying to fix it. As noted above, President Obama DID infact have some responsiblity for the condition of the country at the beginning of his term. The elected officials DO HAVE A RESPONSIBILITY to the people. They do SHOULD vote on and approve the policy that goes through the House and the Senate. There are CHECKS AND BALANCES... it's not ALL the Presidents fault. Nor is it all President Obamas fault right now with some of the issues.... For example: If a bill is passed giving publically traded companies government monies, and then they whine about what was in it when it was signed (did they NOT read it before signing, or did they know but decided to use this as a scape goat tactic) ... but then the President passes MORE laws about bad and evil CEO's.... There is MORE THAN ENOUGH blame to go around there. And as to why I'm not on the ballot? Honestly because I truly think that I'm doing more good helping the local women here than I would accomplish in politics. I DO KNOW ABOUT POLITICS. I just buried my step dad this past weekend, John L. Merkt .... He was VERY active in politics and a man that I was proud of.... but I always did joke with him that he WAS a politician.... and he and I would discuss politcs together... and I didn't always agree with some of his policies either. I want government to be more hands off... so why would I want to get more into it?!
-
some of us (or "they" as you called us) differ with that statement in regards to his policies.

What would you want to do with the poster above you?

depends on the human and depends on the disease. Some humans just add confusion and distractors: "I read on the internet about West Nile virus." "It hurts here and here and here and here and here and here and here and ......" "I don't have a thermometer at home, but I'm pretty sure that I've had fevers of 104." Animals don't tend to lie as much or try to go for secondary gain. If you could trust what the humans told you, then you're right, they are easier. But... as house tells us, all patients lie.

Buy less pre-prepared stuff. Exactly! It's less convenient. And you have to maybe cook (which I kinda hate)... but it is A LOT more healthy to buy fresh veggies, real meat and make a meal. As opposed to buying a Swansons pre made dinner that you "heat and serve."

Simple - then they don't have to take government money. Let them get their financing elsewhere. Yup. They shouldn't have asked and/or Gov't shouldn't have offered.
-
OR... we tell the government, OUR government, to back the fuck up and quit spending societies tax money on publically owned (non - government) businesses. If they fail, it's sad. But the government CAN NOT and SHOULD NOT be responsible for saving everyone. . . . and thus controlling everyone. "Those who surrender freedom for security will not have, nor do they deserve, either one." Thomas Jefferson

Just what we needed. More laws. More government control. Just be sure to tell lil Johnie as he finishes high school not to worry about working hard to get that big position.... the government will take care of all that. People. You just don't have to worry anymore. Isn't that nicer?

GM CEO Wagoner to Step Down at White House Request - WTF?!
kbordson replied to Gawain's topic in Speakers Corner
Again, they did not FORCE him out. I can understand your concern and can agree to a certain degree generally speaking, but in this particular instance I think you may me over-reacting. You're entitled to you opinion. And I should be entitled to mine.. that is until the government comes in and tells me that I'm wrong, of course. -
GM CEO Wagoner to Step Down at White House Request - WTF?!
kbordson replied to Gawain's topic in Speakers Corner
you're a Doctor.....it's healthier...makes life taste a little less bitter. Listen, all I'm saying is that many people wanted him gone and now he's gone yet they still bitch...so what if it took a little nudge from the government to do what the people already wanted in the first place? btw....I didn't want to see him go, but if it is better for GM or PR....so be it. No. More government control is not healthier and does not make me less bitter - as a doctor or not. I do not like government interference. I think it is WAY overstepping its limits here regardless of what the mob mentality wants. -
GM CEO Wagoner to Step Down at White House Request - WTF?!
kbordson replied to Gawain's topic in Speakers Corner
They didn't force him out they requested it, dare I say on behalf of the people? The people wanted some blood and they got it....you should be happy, but than again I guess I can't expect that from such a blood thristy[sic] bunch. Why should I be happy about the government coming into a company and dictating... or "requesting" internal policy changes? Since you seem to know me better than I know myself, please answer that. -
GM CEO Wagoner to Step Down at White House Request - WTF?!

But is it a government right to be able to dictate that?
