  1. SHIT!!!! You do know that the adult dose is 50mg!!! Please tell me you have a decimal error and you only doubled the dose. Benadryl knocks my ass OUT... even the 12.5mg dose. I am VERY sensitive to it.
  2. Testable evidence is flawed as well. Years ago, we "proved" that the Sun moves around the Earth. We "knew" that bloodletting would cure all ailments. There will come a time when we have to admit that everything that we know now.... is really wrong.
  3. Yes. It was up at the park and I was about 10. We were playing tag and I was intent on getting "home." I was running hard and fast and then a dog darted infront of me. I tried to hurdle him, but caught my foot and flipped a bit. Struck my head on the corner of a concrete base around the sandbox of the slide. Got a bit of a head injury (one of several growing up... ). I remember hitting the concrete, closed my eyes and then when I opened them again, I was watching the event from a different perspective. I was quite annoyed too, cuz the poor dog that I tripped over was being hit.... wasn't his fault, poor puppy... but I couldn't do anything. Just watch.
  4. His soul might be looking down with pride, but his body might be looking up at it with horror.... Odd thing to think about.
  5. I have actually thought about this over this past summer. Previously, I had said that I wanted to donate all that I could and be cremated. Ashes buried at the base of a tree. I like woods/forests. I love the Black Hills... maybe someplace there.... But then I went to visit a friend. There was comfort with having a place to talk with him. It helped to bring order to the chaos of loss. His gravesite is in a nice rolling valley. Subtle and discreet stone, nothing to tip or fall or look dishevelled. (And since it was a Military cemetary, it most definately was well maintained) I then went to Arlington. I used to be saddened by the loss that military cemetaries project. Ten years back, when I would pass the cemetary out by Rapid City, I would think that I wouldn't want to be just another white stone, standing alone in a crowd of monuments to death. But Arlington was different.... there was so much respect for those who were buried there. Respect and Remembrance. Then I went back to the family plot in rural Wisconsin. Behind an old chruch, where lies my Father, my Sister & Brother and my Grandparents.... Their stones seemed .... neglected. My sisters was tipping, canting on the hill. The earth was reclaiming the base of the stones. It seemed sadder again. It made me think about what my wishes would be. I still would want donation and creamation. I would want my ashes divided between those who would care. But having a place for comfort might be nice too, as long as it wouldn't become an inconvient burden or something to just be forgotten. Maybe a quiet place with a simple stone - I'm thinking more military cemetary instead of the family plot on church property. I know that life goes on and its unrealistic to visit every Saturday, especially if there are blue skies.... Or maybe a tree near the dropzone where at least Adventurechick would bump into me a time or two. Death.... the last enemy, the final friend. Hopefully it will be a while before these plans need to be decided (knock on wood) Karen
  6. I currently have few "beliefs" about death. Mainly cuz I don't know what I think ... "beliefs" are harder to change than "thoughts." I do believe that there is some existance after "death" and I'm comfortable saying "believe" because it's critical to my soul and psyche to understand death as a continuation of live. So right now, my thoughts are: I was taught that it was Heaven/Hell. I learned about reincarnation and thought Jonathan Livingston Seagull was a good read. I have yet to experience either. I have had dreams about reincarnation and stairways and other interesting journeys... but those were just dreams. I think that we, at this level of understanding, have a difficult time with it... just as 200 years ago, we had a difficult time understanding space.... I love discussing it and hope that with growth comes a broader knowledge of different dimensions.
  7. (yup... Great!! you understand "Karen" now. Forget about that English language thing.... I like to speak Karen. I'm just glad there are translators out there )
  8. Not debating... just wondering about that there rifley type gun. Looks a bit off. Mag - not really .223, Interessting marks on the upper from the injector mold, Not wearing ear protection. Would I be correct in guessing Airsoft or pellet rifle of some sort? (ps.... like it when you post pics without the hoodie )
  9. And Bruce Lee would still kick all their asses... And need we even mention Chuck Norris?
  10. What would we be using it for? Kinda like going to Lowes and saying "I wanna buy a tool." But not telling the sales person what you're building or whether you have a specific brand loyalty or what cost range.... If we were going to buy (not build) another AR15 .... just a minute.... *runs off to look in the toy room and think for a bit* .... The next one might a flat top from Knights, 16in bbl. Spend maybe $1500-1800 on the gun. with a Schmidt and Bender for long range or an Elcan Specter DR (not the infra red one) for 100-300 meters.
  11. Not enough information. What conditions are set? What was done to incur my wrath? I typically wouldn't want to kill.... but what is my motivation here? Also which gun? (A 'lil 22 with a silencer? 50 cal?) Vs. what knife? (Claymore? Dagger with a kris blade?) What distance? Whats the target? One mark or a team? How many friendlies? Risk of collateral damage? Risk of disclosure? Can't answer your question.
  12. Not so much. Without glass or mounts - probably $900 to 1k. - don't all girlfriends/wives allow that kind of funding for toys?
  13. OK. Here's some thoughts... but remember, I'm just a chick on the internet giving out MY opinion. (and some insight from my husband too). I'm going to assume that you want a 1moa gun (cuz there would be no point in a flat top and scope if all you want is a 3moa gun) Upper/Lower - Rock river is good, or Bushmaster if you can get one. Trigger: 2 stage match - First recommendation is Chip McCormick. Next Armalite. Avoid Jard and JP. No Jewell triggers - way too tweeky. Barrel - you can get a 20inch stainless steel heavy bbl from Wilson Barrels (not Wilson Combat) for about $120 or so. (I would love to recommend Rock cuz DAMN, he can cut barrels, but the .223 is buttoned and you were looking at cost as an issue) You should free float the barrel. I would (of course) recommend a Badger Ordnance handguard, but those are difficult to get right now because of some changes in manufacturing. It might be easier, quicker and cheaper to use Troy Industries or Knight Manufacturing. Front site? Your answer should be "no." And you should put that money into better glass or better training. Gas Block/manifold is the better answer. Glass/sights - Long range scopes don't sit well on the AR15, but if you feel you must you might find that you need to move the scope forward to allow you to cheek up properly and comfortably. For that you might need a riser rail (about $90). The best (not bragging, just stating fact) mounts and rings are Badger - but you pay more for the quality. Glass - cost and desire are BIG players here. My firm recommendations is the Schmidt and Bender, but you'ld be looking at the cheapest being about $1200-$1300. Next a Mark4, but even then it would be about 1k. A reasonable choice might be the Vari X3 (runs about $800). Aimpoint would be a bit above the EOTech on that class, cuz it would be better if there was a power failure or some other problem on the sight. Pistol grip - Magpul. Stock - Voltor or Magpul Hope it helps and have fun putting it together.
  14. Some questions to consider.... Are you looking to put a scope on it or are you wanting it to be service rifle legal for CMP matches? How much money are you wanting to play with? What do you consider "accurate"? Then I'll get back to you with some recommendations. Karen
  15. True poison - I'll side with the Turtle and say Hemlock. For only the best of the dead. Or in the famous last words of Socrates: "I drank WHAT?!" Non EtOH - Mt. Dew and GoFast Alcohol - Long Island Iced Tea or anything with RUM!!!!
  16. Note - Do NOT try to do a J turn with a segway..... and you loose cool points when you fall off.
  17. Put it aside for 1-2 days. Then come back to it again. Read it out loud and make corrections as needed. Then post the revised version.
  18. Lets spin this for a second. This discussion seems to be assuming that Cruise was a victim or at least a passive player in the termination of the contract. I bet there was a lot more behind the scenes that we know about. Cruise may have appeared to become a bit less controlled lately and so many assume that he's "gone crazy." But I think that he may have always thought a little outside of the box and with changing his consultants is just showing it a bit more. Actors and public personalities have to project a certain image at all times to remain "popular." Tom's jumping on the couch - he must be crazy. Jennifer's being indecisive with Vaughn - she must be reason that her and Brad broke up. Ohh and this other actress left the house without her makeup - she must be depressed or on drugs or ..... It must get very annoying trying to act perfect every day. Maybe he decided "Fuck that." But does that mean that he's any more or less intellegent or in control of his future. Maybe he just decided it wasn't worth the battle to him to continue with Paramount. k.
  19. I have. It was quite easy. I just was in for a regular donation and mentioned that I wanted to do that. They just took an extra tube of blood and sent it off. That easy. The registry is very good at sending out occasional notices to remind me that I need to contact them if I change my mind or move or whatever. Haven't been contacted yet for any bone marrow donations, but will be here if they need it.
  20. I'm not saying that he should take the Barrett off the list - it has it's use, just that he should add something in between a 50cal and a light machine gun. Something for distance with out the force.
  21. Maybe if we requested that "Pluto and Charon" be reinstated? The mass of the two might be enough to get it back on the list. Ya know, treat them like a married couple - if you ask one, you get both.... so by considering Pluto, you have to use the joint account (weight) of the couple. Might work....
  22. No AI? You got a Barrett and some "lightweight" guns. But how about a nice accurate weapon to manage longer distances. and ps.... I am not a wussie. (will post pic of me and a lil ma duece when I get home)
  23. I prefer the KISS mentality. I didn't end up using that placement service.... But I was a bit shocked by the cover letter that they wanted me to use. (Part of me always wondered if I liked mine because it was better or if simply because I wrote it.... so what if it was sterile. "Dammit Jim, I'm a doctor not a poet!")
  24. Personally, I agree with that 100%. But I was criticized in my porfolio for not having it what I considered flowery enough. I was advised to make it more flambouyant.... less sterile. this was actually written for me by a placement agency (but I just didn't like it... it seemed to .... something.) But again.... personally. Follow Peters advice. karen
