On your back for tandem openings??
airborne82nd replied to airborne82nd's topic in Photography and Video
FlyinseivLP2 there is one ass in every crowd who decides to run his mouth for no other reason but to be an idiot, thanks for adding nothing to the discusssion. you win the ( if you were at my dz you would get a blanket party ) award. of course i can do a half back loop i fly on my back. in fact out of the 7 different cam people at my dz there are only 2 of us that fly on our backs and 3 of us dont wear wings. i am sure all can fly on there back but they dont like to the other cam people are belly flyers. the other guy who flys on his back goes under the tandem, i dont. its about style & comfort and what you like to do. I can do a half back loop but doing it a few feet from a tandem and keeping them perfectly in the shot. so till i work that out but i am greatful for davepleaka for sugesting a cool deployment shot. i dont land off and i dont track for too long so thanks for addressing the tracking and landing off, I understand that and take great care that doesnt happen. so thanks for the comment JIMOKE i really appreciate it. thanks to those who gave a normal, functional, inteligent, insightful and relevent advice. hats off to ou for sharing your expereince. -
On your back for tandem openings??
airborne82nd replied to airborne82nd's topic in Photography and Video
yeah i back track like that but i dont have the skill to do a 1/2 back loop, that must look awesome i could just imagine how that looks. i should practice that in the tunnel and go out and perfect it then i can do it with tandems. very cool thanks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! -
On your back for tandem openings??
airborne82nd replied to airborne82nd's topic in Photography and Video
Does anyone go on there back for the openings?? I am infont of the tandem they give a wave and as the go through the trapt door and the bag comes off the go below my level. Then as they go by i do a barrel roll keeping them in the shot till i am on my back then i sit there watching them open 5-6 seconds and then i roll back over and track and open. i dont go under the tandem like some do does anyone else do the barrol roll or back fly for the openings or do most knee fly or go high on there shins and get it that way. i think some others have double jointed necks. That footage where the vid is on his back underneath and the deploy go down through the trapt door at the vid guy and then snatch up is awesome. ill never do it to risky but it does look awesome. anyone do anything intersting to catch the opening????? -

airborne82nd replied to airborne82nd's topic in Photography and Video

Prescription Drugs and Skydiving
airborne82nd replied to jumpjunkie2004's topic in Safety and Training
what are you taking? what antibiotic? and for what? Sinusitis? rhinitis? I would apply the same rules for scubadiving and other baro-trauma conditions. you could get a reverse block on the way down be the same as scubadiving and you decend to 110ft equlizing your middle air sapce via your valava manuever through the eustation tubes. so no that you have 4 x's great autmospheric pressure ( 14.7 psi ) you added to your sinuses and middle ear on accent it needs to drain out. so would be the fly up in the plane. you could have pain upon accent in the plane or be fine and when you jump and open the rapid pressure changes could hurt. be equivelent to going down in a 10 ft pool and not clearing your ears. pain ful. the ear drum ( tympanic Membrane ) would flex in by the outside ambient pressure and the negative pressure in your middle ear space would cause lot of pain. Antibiotics shouldnt make you drowsy per say you wouldnt have any narcolepsy ( falling asleep )or cataplexy ( dropping out just fainting like spell ) nothing crazy like that. The antibiotic shouldnt give you anytrouble its the condition that may ground you. especially when the airspaces in your head need to equalize. you know the best one to ask is not a ortho guy or even an ent guy the best would be a flight surgeon, ( not allways aa surgeon military flight doctor ) -
get the hc 40 it doesnt need a docking station i would though instead of the 350 look at the hc92 thats the bomb

OOPPS turn the sony stabilizer on or off?
airborne82nd replied to airborne82nd's topic in Photography and Video
my hc40 am i supposed to have the image stabilizer on or off???? my videos look good no vibration or shake. and what does the lens ( .5 sony wide angle ) does that mean anything with the need for image stabilizer? I jump a hamkeye helmet with nice d-box on left side andhave .6, .5 and .42 lenses. tandems and aff and rw i use .5 if i am part of the formation or doing the horney gorilla then i where the .42 My buddy bought the new samsung sports cam ill tell yall how it does. -
I jumped a spectre 4 times i think i thought it landed just like the tri. but thats what i thought. i think it flew like a tri also but it seem to come down quicker then the tri less glide. now i am jumping a 1998 tri and a 2001 specre the tri always snivals the spectre i thought opened faster but for 4 jumps i know nothing. My tri only slammed me once when i had very loose rubber band stows. so now i use small ones. I roll the tail 3 times at the top near the slider then 7 times very tight rolls on the tail. i tuck the nose in gently in the middle ( i have left the center cell out and tucked the sides of the nose in too that worked ok ) then i quater the slider and pull most of the slider towards me over the nose and creat a little tent with it and tuck in the stab under it. i guess the idea is that it slows the exposure time to the nose or something. but i ll tell you i can make that tri snival like crazy i back it off to get it open a bit quicker. and i pack very sharp and perfect no pshyco packing. but my tri flyes great and opens always very nice. what is the difference in the glide of the spectres and the tris?? which one will get you back from a bad spot better???

Very Nice post but psychoanalyzing everyone and determining everyone’s need is a bit collective. When people say right now we need is quiet reflection what are they really saying and to whom are they speaking to. I hate to tell others how they should think ect or what they should be doing or how they should be grieving. Not everyone grieves the loss personally. Many if not all of us know the man but many of us don’t know him personally and do feel bad about the loss.; But we are not in the grieving category. However with absence of the accident facts, quiet reflection does not serve much of purpose for the rest of us. One thing also is the grievers shouldn’t be offended by those of us who didn’t know Gus and really cant grieve. Our interest is solely about the details and conditions and the what happened part. We are not trying to lay blame, or say someone should have done this or that, nor are we being insensitive. Those of you who are deeply effected and hurt by the loss of Gus shouldn’t jump on the rest of us and say things like, “ right now everyone needs to grieve out of respect.” and/or “ no one should be discussing this right now because we are all grieving.” This is such a freak occurrence and a tragic accident it’s very important to know what happened. How many times say in medicine something goes wrong and immediately once we find out we change how we do things or protocols ect.. This is not medicine but much has been learned from accidents, whether its from equipment failures, protocols, conditions, skydive error, poor visibility, and all those other unforeseen things that we would never have the benefit of knowing until they happen, and we say, “ I never thought of that happening. “ I am in medicine, I am a tech-reational scubadiver (16 years) military jumper and a skydiver, so I am always reading publications of fatalities and accidents and analysis. I would say that the knowledge gained from that has made me better in all those categories. So those of you grieving understand that we can not feel what you feel nor are we effected as you are from the loss, but we all gain to know what happened and to learn from it. The paper also said that Gus might have had the video going at the time. I myself would like to watch that video if it ever came available on the net (how many of us saw that famous strong video with the tandem side spin, wow ill never forget that.) and remember watching those malfunctions and fatality on video is not some morbid faces of death curiosity. It is seeing for yourself and learning. Those of you that knew Gus and were his friends don’t be offended of our interest and please don’t try to dictate the terms of how we should be interested, we would never try to dictate the terms of your grieving. Trying not to offend anyone in my effort but then offense seems to be a relative specific effect.

how difficult is it to become a vidiot?
airborne82nd replied to The111's topic in Photography and Video
the ff2 is a good helmet but it sticks out a bit and the housing is the same for every cam, so if you have a small hc42 they sell you the insoles for the housing. i have a hawkeye with a box around it aluminum, side mount but hawkeys are hard to find and someone said they are out of business, the boneheads are nice the optik ( need a chin cup and a quick relase is very nice ) you can get a .5 lens and a say .42 very wide for the hc42, quality is great, of course do the manual focus and to infinity and take it out of easy cam mode. there are other helmets like rawa and these others, but i turn my head a bit to the side and never get any risor slap on opening now some dont do that but with my canopy its soft opening, so as far as helmet and cams go the hc 92 is better the the 42 i dont know how much money you have to spend. as far as experience and skill and all that its best to search the threads and see, i can advise anyone on that. people at your dz may tell you how you fly if it is good enough to learn. now say you fly well enough to say record the skydives you know, like your jumping with your buds and you are all doing a 4way and your part of it and you have your .42 or .38 lens and your just letting the hc42 film ya, its different filming tandems, aff's, rw groups and teams, fre flyers, and oh boy chasing around some of the new freestyle flyers doing splits and all that boy thats challenging. but i cant tell you since i don know how many jumps and how well you fly and your jump experince and tunnel time and all that ect... but there are some good rules of thumb to follow fo jumping video like 150-200 jumps and some say alot more. but you have alot of jumps id say you could get some cam coaching and some training. see i was luck with timing and other vidoe people who trained me want to do aff instructing and tandems master so i kind of move in while they move on to other things they want to do. good luck -

airborne82nd replied to airborne82nd's topic in Gear and Rigging
Packing a vison is like a slip and slide with out the fun or the water. any suggetsions on packing the slipery mess? technigues? 3 arms?? spray the packing carpet with a light mist of water bottle to give some grip? the other thing is opening with endcell closure, when it opens 1/2 the time it opens in a hard spin soft openings but the end cell the left one doesnt open with the other and the canopy is does a diving turn. the guy jumping has 600 jumps and weighs 162lbs anysuggestions for him?? -

airborne82nd replied to sneaky's topic in Photography and Video
ok for all the slow people once again i dont do linked exits, i do what the TM tells me. when i do an aff video i do what the aff guys tell me. i do what the rw team wants me to do and after review the video and the want soemthing else ill do it what ever they want. I dont advocate linked exits them i dont know anything about them and if asked probubly wouldnt do one. i can stay with in a couple of feet of a tandem on exit so again i dont know about the linked exit. It wasnt my post and the only thing i have to learn is to get better and safer everytime. you need to learn we wont tolerate you flamers flaming someones inocent post. so you so called flamer elders need to learn some manners, sneaky has an idea and an approach and you people wronged him. I am sure your better then you were 8 years ago and i guaruntee you out fly me most of you eleders do. but since a monkey can do tandem video then we agree it isnt too hard. i am probubly where you were 8 years ago, and if that was fin for you it is for me. bottom line some of you elders should act your age and experience and stop jumping on some poor guy like sneaky, it shouldnt take a an under 400 jumper like me to teach you that. one more time I DONT DO LINKED EXITS. AND I DO WHAT I AM TOLD, I AM SAFE, I STICK TO THE PLAN, MY VIDOES LOOK FINE, EVERYONE HAS FUN AND THE TANDEM MASTER IS HAPPY!! IF NOT THE TM WILL ASK FOR SOMEONE ELSE. Now line up and appologize to sneaky!! -

Thank you zee and sneaky with your great posts!!!!! You are two elders whom i can respect highly!!! you other bitchin, whining, name calling guys are the trolls you start flaming sneaky becuase he ask questions or has an other opinion. again my post are inspired by you troll flammers who pick apart sneakys and call him unsafe, i mean you elders are the ones whinning and crying. my lack of respect for you is becuase troll, pick apart, and flame anyone with any idea or opinion but your own. and you dont like it when someone throws it back in your face. You elders have these baby egos and 90% of the time you are flaming, and arguing, and play little games with your bullshit arguments. look at your post here look what you say. you think i am unsafe? i told you i dont do linked exits are you all stupid or something, see you attack me with weak crap like oh you have only 400 jumps but i have 2000 but you really offer no counter points. again you guys love to crizatize jump numbers but you dont ansewr to the numbers of how many tandem deaths and injuries in the last 10 years, and how many did the video guy cause and how many were side spin? most are from equipment. malfunctions, and how many tandems jumps were there in 10 years. funny seems like video tandems isnt that dangerous and come on its not that hard you so called elders are getting killed swooping with all your jumps and glory, so that doesnt bode well for you. swooping is very hard and very dangerous but i dont flame anyone for doing it and if i am so dangerous and you wouldnt want me at your dropzone ( sounds like a flaming asshole troll comment ) why dont i swoop? see you guys just spew crap out of your mouths wow 500 jumps in one year great and again how many jumps did it take you to be good at tandem video huh? right. and wow that cam you fly for the last 10 years its as big as my mail box very cool is that 8track or reel to reel? See you are the trolls i am just sticking up for sneaky ( who by the way is just as experienced or more then most of you flaming trolls ) i stick up for sneaky and zee's post nails you on the head. i stick up for sneakys right to post with out harm from others. if you have nothing nice or relevent to say then dont post. if you attack someone like sneaky for having another opinion then ill be the first one in your face, giving it right back at you. Mostly i sit here reading post and never respond but when i see you flammers jump on someone like sneaky that thats when i jump in. I love to see some of you try that crap in person also, I love to help anyone out in person with that problem. bottom line dont be jerks and flame other people for sake of your ego, then you wont have to here me throwing it in your face, leave people aloneand only bitches turn everything into a bitch contest -
Tandem Video Exits - inspiration wanted !
airborne82nd replied to sneaky's topic in Photography and Video
ill be sure never jump at your dropzone jump with a bunch of know it all primadona who wine and cry about anyone having any opinion but theres. i have the 280 jumps and the military freefall jumps and static lines which i dont count. you all jumped on the original poster like a bunch of asses impling that he wasnt concerned of safety and talking trash intead of facts, my point is proven when you cry about jump numbers like it takes more then 50 jumps with tandems to be good? your full of shit!!! a new camera man can fly with tamndems at 150 jumps - 300 with out a problem. If they can fly at all i meen fly well and have a safe attitute and no what they are doing and the tandem master is comfortable. siting at the edge of a 4 or 8 way rw team is much harder then filming a tandem, and ok lets see some of you film head down with a group of vrw then lets see who can fly. anycompitent cam guy can fly his .45 or .5 lens 6 inches from the student forheads if desired. and any one of you can do it also. it doesnt take 4000 jumps to do that so id say your super high jump numbers are not very relavent, if you been jumping and filming 10 years i am sure your not much better at filming tandems then you were 8 years ago or not much better then people with 2 years of filming tandems. i have never done a linked exit, it never came up, never proposed, never tryed it. but i wouldnt jump all over anyone who wants to if all agree and again its not that hard and how many tandems go in each year???? how many answer that dont dick around with jump numbers and cry and whine how many tandems go in every year??? and why?? was it for a linked exit?? did the camera man kill them??? or a side spin??? no and you all know it!!!!! so focus on those numbers!!! how many experinced swoopers get killed with 1000 of jumps huh??? it is very hard to swoop it is not hard to video a tandem. and if me and others are so unsafe as you imply then why do i jump with tandem after tandems with out any problems?? if i wasnt good at it ( and its not hard to be ) then i wouldnt be allowed to do it. i know someone with 100 jumps and about a 40 hrs in the tunnel and you should see his vrw videos un real. again i am sick of you so called super sky gods on here crying and picking apart every single post you dont agree with, and saying things like AT MY WONDERFUL DZ YOU HAVE TO HAVE 1000 JUMPS BEFORE YOU GET TO FILM ANYONE, then i say oh when did you start filming and you laugh and say yeah at 100 jumps but i was good at it. just shut your mouth if you dont agree with someone else and their opinion then dont say anything mostly you have nothing relevent to say and all you do is try to tear the guy up for posting. so shove it!! i have more experience and jumps then listed, i have lots of tunnel time ( lots ) i dont do anything unsafe ever ( i dont even swoop ) and i never do linked tandem exits, my vdieos look good, tandem masters, aff instructors, and groups like my videos, i always do what i am told, i alsways follow the plan and never dieviate, i never have been hurt jumping, and most of you beating up on the original poster are asses and i hope you stay at your dropzones where you know it all -
Tandem Video Exits - inspiration wanted !
airborne82nd replied to sneaky's topic in Photography and Video
Sneaky sorry so many asses feel the need to speak up the gospel here if they have nothing to add they should start their own thread. exactly do as i say. not as i right agiedave and the others crying about saftey cant be for real. do thy think we want to get someone hurt?? i hear them say you cant dock unless your a tandem master ect... what ever give us all a bull shit break holding a hand on exit is nothing of course the camera guy will let go if he sees anything wrong, most of the cam guys can outfly tandem guys and especially if they have a stduent under them. i here crap about you cant jump with tandems unless your a tandem instructor o come on. I have a secret for you. 1. Filming tandems is very easy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! try filming free flyers. it a dope on a rope not hard at all, see folks building rounds on tandems ect.. have the student hold your feet while you back fly ect.. now that sample exit video by pope was nice but ill tell you i can post better exits then that i have better videos then that. but it is a good video. i can not stand the pick a part posters who love to argue based on there own convictions and act like eveyone should think the way they do or your dangerous. well if you have nothing to add, nothing nice to say, and you have differnet convictions then dont post. respect to disagree but dont be an ass and try to argue every damn point soeone trys to make. the topic was great and sneaky i am sorry so many asses had to crap all over the post. oh i forgot how many side spins killed tandems last year HUH!!!!!!!!!! none!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! as i remeber equipment failure harness and canopy killed a couple. no linked camera man induced side spins deaths. again jumping with a tandems is easy, filming very easy some of us think no one else can do it, how ignorent.
