  1. i jump a Hc 40 side mount with a small elph on top for stills no site use non dominent eye site in the googles. i use th small battery in the hc40 and the helmet is a hawkeye. now i am one of those guys who did a lot of football, 16 years of karate, airborne specail opps, and moto-cross now when i was say till 32 i was still made out of solid steel, now 38 i am in good shape but years of hardcore has stressed my neck. my neck is in great shape. I had line dump 2 months ago and i am in the medical field, i just knew i broke my neck i sevearly hyperflexed it. my chin slamed my chest and my canopy went boom!!! so i went to my hospital and went to nerosurgeon i know and they did a CT scan. nothing wrong at all, i have some arthritic changes consistant with age and years of neck stress activity. he told me that my big chin cup hit my chest and prevented any further flexion. he saw the video of it he said its good you dont have one of those mailboxes on you head and you have a little camcorder on the side. he said with the chin cup and the side mount i was lucky, i thought i was still tough as nails but if i was wearing some of the top mounts i see, i dont knwo if i would have broke my neck, fractuure vertabre??? your graph is very interesting, can it calculate the stress of side mount camera helmet set ups??? thanks for sharing the info
  2. there ya go girl these two guys gave you some awesome advice!!! i learned a few things. you two articulated your point very very well much respect to the advice and your knowledge. equipment is a huge thing. freefly friendly my son was doing a horney gorlila with an older javalin rig you know the soft container kind that mold around very well. riser protection was great and pin protection awesome. but he had the old style like sheer black like pantyhose boc and no bridle cover flap around to the side to the boc and he had a pvc pilot chute. well you know the story every one was all together smiles when my son notice everyone just bailed out on him and looked at him in horror. next thing he knew he was snatched up. hi pilot chute was dancing behind him for seconds i guess ( i wasnt on that jump ) so the next day he had his rig modified with freefly handle bridle cover boc aand other things and now that rig is tight as hell. i have a 2 year old wings free fly set up so i am good. just a story about equipment, my son wasnt sitflying yet but he went in on the gorilla and his loose rig failed him.
  3. wish you guys get off the horse and answer her damn question. poor girl has been in the sport for 4 years i am sure she has the jumps probly doesnt want to update her jumps i know a guy a who has 800 jumps and holds a A lic. please girl these guys are the ones who started head downing at 50 jumps and sit flying like most of us did but they get all high and mighty and ignorently think they are the only ones to do it. give me a break, if you can back fly you can head down back flying is harder for me to leanr the sit flying everrything is all backwards ect... head down is not really hard to learn or hold it is very hard to do head down grips and vrw work that would be very dangerous but practicing with your self solo or getting coached from someone good is fine thing to do. head down isnt some monster due to the speed you spread out you slow down. you have a ditter you call it at 5000 and get belly slow down ect... now how many people have i seen get into a uncontroled flat spin while trying to back fly and even sit fly and i have seen a few aff level 4-6 who some how ended up on there back spinning. so head down is not so dangerous it also has hothing to do with sit fly or back fly going belly and deep liek no lift dives have great speed true head down isnt too hard. i cant tell you much more i am not a coach and i dont knwo how you fly or what would be best for you. i learned head down from a sit and belly ect.. and i know some rw guys who can true head down better cleaner and faster then i can. head down is really dangerous in the tunnel and thats a no brainer, you have to back fly then sit fly and do multi movements before you will ever be allowed to head down in there. one thing you can do is this spread your legs as wide as possible and put your arms to your sides and then bend at the waist forward till you fall in the hole and your leg with will give you drag and you can learn balence from there, some guys do the olav straddle mostly your knees will be slightly bendt torso straight dont look down at the ground look at the horizen and fidn a balence and technique for it. i aint pretty but i can film a group doing it. doing it very well is very hard doing it ok and being safe takes jumps. good luck i call it or others call it going down the tube wooosh
  4. hey man you could have at least answered my question on the fast scan rate for the 240 frames per socnd for 3 seconds have you tyed it does it work well helllloooooooooooo anyone home
  5. how is that hc3 is that fast scan or 240 frame rate for 3 seconds how does that work???????????????? i dream of that camera
  6. oh ya i am way to conservative and i am not crazy like fast and all those high speed guys so it will take me 200 jumps and canopy coaching as i ease into swooping and i do mean ease those of you that know me know i like change very slowly it took me forever till i was ready to leanr how to sitfly and ill be head down in another 2 years. you guys are very talented and have lots of guts. ill get there but it will take me 4 times as long. ( side not i rode motocross when i was 8 till 17 when i was 12 every one was doing double jumps ect.. i didnt do double jumps till i was 14 my point was it took me longer but i was better at 15 years old then my more agressive friends ) i guess it was technical for me and for my friends it was all guts. i also take some canopy coaching and freefall caoching from a guy who failed aff 3, 4, 5 ect... and he is one of the best flyers i know ( overall ) so starting conservative but to be on the canopy like the crossfire and be able to downsize and stay on the same canopy for me would be the best.
  7. yes i was wondering of the xf1 is safer then the xf2 or less agressive what i gathered it is true its is less agressive xf2 is a faster turner a harder diver and more sensative. i also understand it has more lift. but i have seen seval xf1 with awesome glides great flare and good swoops. i also seen the xf2 and wow clearly a better canopy. economics would grant me the xf1 or 2. what ever deal i can get. i spoke to many good people who got into say a 169 cross fire and downsized over a period one guy i know took 2 years to go from 169, 149 129 and now he has a 119 and damn he can swoop that cross fire for a non braced is amazing. his point and several people said the cool thing about the crossfires is you can get into the canopy with a biger size and light loaded say 169 and down size on the same canopy. to me that is an awesome advantage. dont worry about my level i just need the questions answered i have plenty of canopy experience and jumped a sabre 2 135 loaded 1.7. the triathlon is an old canopy that i need to sell once i buy something else. diablos, sabres, vision ( nice lift ) sabre 2 stiletos ect... and i hate spinning. over and over and over while bicycling line twist out. problem i cant find any crossfires to demo i have a buddy with a 135 xf1 and it flies awesome. so i have a great love for the crossfire 1 or 2 i just wanted to know what one 1 or 2 is better for me. i also have spoke to several people who sold their xf2 and kept there xf1 goes against the grain but they like the 1 better. i have been told that the xf1 is more docile and would be a better start up. canopy in the 159 range or a xf2 169 or 149. nothing spins like a diablo or stileto and everyone says the crossfuire wont spin like that and they snival awesome. but if the crossfire 2 is better ill save my pennies and get that one also. lot of poeple downsize and i know i can get a good deaL. another guy i know jumps a 149 crossfire 2 he ways 200 lbs and he lands it soft and straight in and then i see him do a slow 270 and haul ass. Ok my friend is a great canopy pilot he weighs 125 lbs so a fx 104 wouldnt be to loaded for him. a cross fire 2 105 or so ect.. he jumps 99 diablo ( i guess ) ect.. and last weekend he landed a triathlon 120 in someones fenced in yard ( very impressive on an off landing ) the kid is good. so if he got a great deal on a fx 104 should he jump on it or should he get the crossfire 109 and advantage to either?? hope that clears up everything.
  8. For both the 1 and 2 crossfire loading each to just 1.4 which canopy would be more easily flown buy new swoop pilots. which one would land easily more predictable in the flare ect.. am i right that the 1 turns a bit slower and doesnt dive as far and is more docile then the 2. is the 1 a good begining advanced canopy and is the 2 a step up from that under the bare min wingloading for performance?? an unrelated question i know someone great canopy pilot looking for a crossfire loaded 1.4 or an fx loaded at 1.2 would the fx lannd better or is the advantage just seen in the upper end of the performance and wing loading. i am feeling that i would get a crossfire 1 first unless the 2 would be a better canopy to gro into. thanks again
  9. thanks again for all the comments and the information on skydiving movies post. really appreciate your comments and recomendations and thanks so much for taking time to share and to even respond to me. thanks again to anyone who took time to write
  10. At our Dz a weekend and once in a great while fridays dz i am third in rotation. we dont rotate like the Tandem masters, who seem to equally rotate, there is the number one girl and then the number 2 girl yep video chicks. so they get first priority and it rotates between them two first. if we do a 3 tandem load then my bat phone rings the spot light goes up through the clouds and i come up from the bat cave to save the day and do that one camera load. so i love the 3 camera three tandems yaaaaaaaaa but i am the back up i get one once in a while sometime i have got 8 in a weekend but thats once. the two girls have been doing it much longer then i have. all three of us have different flying styles, video styles and editing styles. so 3 people dont get the exact same video or experience so thats one good example of diversity for my jump numbers and 3 hours of tunnel time i see myself lucky to get to fly video. i do a good job and make it fun and try to be as creative and fun as possible. So at our dz that the arrangement. i am the back up guy the third video man. if one of them is sick or gone for the weekend i get in there. if one is not packed yet or we are real busy i get in there. so i have no complaints my hope is a higher % of tandems will get a video and then flood us with video work i have made a website with sample videos and we play a sample video while they hang out all in hopes to bring in more tandems and videos it hurts us when we have 10 tandems and only 3 videos thats when the dust collects on my lens. I am not complaining this is what are arraangement is at our dz. We have another guy comming up who is the 4th back up who does a good job, we all are pulling for more tandems.
  11. we get 40dollars per video what do you get????
  12. i know its not the Cloud monkey mike zbzn spin around which is incredible i entered this in a contest for artistic and for meaning with the song so its about moving along tell me what you think. i am not getting the best reviews on it. my son is the narrater featured in the video so its not about him someone wrote on that they thought the kid is vain and it was a waste of time but he is the back drop and we used alot of camera work to achieve some of the effects. by the way mike zban is his idle! so if you guys would say judge it on artistic quality and say if the music goes with the video. most of the some of the flying video was me filming. one point my son and i dock on my brothers birthday tandem. and i get one exit out of the king air. and the neat exit with me hanging on a twin bonanza and i film a tandem in the clouds just between a cloud that came up. it was very cool video with the clouds going by. so anyway its a music video attempt its not all hard core awesome flying its simple stuff arranged anyway i hope it entertains you and when the non skydivers see it the go crazy been good for people to kind of promote the sport i guess. a teenager told me that this is how the video should have been made. and good old video explosion. hc 4o sony http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=3897
  13. my question of underloading is ridiculous???? i dont understand ? i have some folks recomending the cobalt also i guess the vision is out and vengence. thanks again for all who wrote thanks for taking your valuable time to write
  14. with my weight the crossfire i will load it at 1.38 they recomend 1.4 i know its not a cross braced but any danger of slightly underloading or light loading the crossfire2???
  15. pilot seems to be very slow nice canopy though i am sorry i guess the sabre2 isnt out dated my mistake. it has been around along time. i am looking for something to the next level up the next thing up from a stileto but not a katana the Sabre2 135 makes it hard to make it back from a long spots, i love landing off in peoples yards like the next guy. maybe my reasoning doesnt make sence. I saw a guy on a crossfire2 ( 150 ) i guess about my size swoop the hell out of the little zhills pond. i spoke to him and i said how big is that canopy he said 150 he told me that you he can make it back from a long spot, fly slow deep brakes, land soft straight in, and when he kicks it he can swoop it very well. got me thinking could i use the same criteria for selecting my canopy and if load it lighter will i get all the benifits as well. will it be harder to swoop a lighter loaded canopy meaning to learn to swoop?? is there a hidden danger in trying to swoop a lighter loaded canopy. will it force me to do dives from a lower height?? im 182lb so is it possible to safely swoop the larger canopies? in the 150 range? conventiaonal wisdom dictates to down size into the higher loaded canopys. is there anything wrong with my approach? Oh and yes i am very destructable, in 3 years and 5 years in the 82nd i have never injured myself parachuting. i have however hurt my self on motocross, years of karate, football oh and hitting my thumbb with the hammer. im 38 good shape married with a son so i am very conservative i have yet to scare the shit out of myself or do anything stupid ( i am amazed that i know folks that practice that daily ) plus i want a canopy for years i dont want to jump canopys so i want this canopy for say 1000 jumps look like every says dump the vision nitro or crossfire thank you everyone for your expertise yes thank you too fast
  16. i live 60 minutes between 5 dropzones in florida i get to jump year round i have seen all the pd guys do there thing. I know quite a bit about swooping. research, jumpers, freinds ect.. i have watched tony hathoway burn across the pond on a spectre 97 i think. i have seen pauly on a velocity 79 i guess carve with the wing on the ground and his ass sliding around. funny those guys caan swoop anything. now i am not at your level as far as swooping you are way ahead of me in jumps and canopy skills and as far as the sabre 135 i land it easily. anther thing please dont speak for the group when you say us. i am asking anyone who has an opinion or knowledge. and can contribute. you give good advise but you probly break all your own rules and never do as you say others to do. my tech knowledge of swooping is very sound and i am way up to speed on swooping. what i do not know is the individual flying characteristics of the canopys i have selected. andvantages of each and how that fits into my plan. i have several people i am working with just as i did when i got into video. I am not trying to go crazy here i am very conservative so go save the world for someone else i am not the idiot at the dz with 60 jumps and trying to swoop and kill him self so spare me. ( every dz has one of those ) the art of swooping to me is a beautiful technical artform i love it and i film it, read it, observe it, and get lots of feedback. i have a great respect for it i am pursuing it as an art and very slowly. i know where i am and i know where i want to go. i am not aiming for the nickname like " fast " Use your head look at my questions and the canopy i picked they are all at the begining for me and my skillls. i am not posting questions like 7cell or 9 cell whats the difference i did that years ago. so after 3 years hours of research and reading hunderds of these posts. i have selected 4-5 canopys that i have all watched fly all watched swoop and i have talked with all the owners. now i want to further my intimite understanding of each canopy and how it flys and see which one i would feel the most comfortable on. as far as the diablo and stilletto they both are very spin happy at normal speed, i have direct experience to that. i also have seen the mamba and heard a few guys who jump velocitys that say that the mamba is super touchy. I asked a very pointed & simple question, if you have anything to contribute relevent to the question of the canopys i have selected please feel free to contribute. if not dont waste your time trying to preach to me. I dont need saving. I need info. to those of you so kind to share your knowlege thanks. my goals is to be on a velocity in maybe 6 years from now. with 1500 jumps. i think i have layed out a very conservative path to get there.
  17. i know they all spin i wanted to know which one is less touchy i dont want diablo action ect.. sabre 2 is fine but i wanted something a step up on speed and dont want a stileto either both canopys are a bit outdated i know they are great but i am looking for a bit more
  18. Vengence 150 Crossfire 169 Vision 150 Nitron 150 Nitro 150 I am looking for the greatest lift, the most docile when it comes to spinning (No diablo or mamba spinners) i guess longer recovery arch light front riser pressure best glide something i can land easy, make it back from a long spot, and something i can dive and swoop intermediate canopy but also for begining swooping. notice the crossfire is the 169 not 150 i am assuming that has the highest performaace i am 182 right now my weight is very consistant. and am i pussen out i know i am not loading these to hard but can i dive em and make them swoop??? ok which one is the best performer. smallest thein i have jumped was a 135 sabre 2
  19. looking for the swoop canopy with the most docile in turns. some canopys are say like a diablo what a spinner and the aerodyne new mamba i mean its like going 60 miles an hour in a gocart tooooooooooo touchy you lean and your spinning. i know its a strange question but lookking for the swoop canopy which will not go crazy if you open with a couple line twist and the canopy with the less touchy controls as possible. of course easy front riser pressure and a canopy that will plane out on its own once the diving 270 is complete. ( i understand that some canopy require light rear riser to plane them out. i know this is a strange set of options for the canopy. mostly looking for the most non touchy non spinning swoop canopy. loading 1- 1.65 thanks
  20. thanks to everyone who responded very good avice very very helpful i have only 3 hours in the tunnel over 2 years i say i need to double that in the next 6 months thanks again to everyone who responded
  21. What do you video folks do when the tandem delays drogue chute throw due to many reasons say student not in proper atitute or psoition or the many reasons or say personalll taste of the tandem master. you have a good exit your right there and you expect the drogue chute to come out and then they start to fall below you. and 4 seconds later the drogue chute comes out and they are way below and it takes you 5-10 seconds to get there. some who freeflys can go into a sit. i dive down in a delta while keeping them in frame and get there asap of course sometimes i dont feel i get there quick enough, ( it has only happend say 7 times ) video still truns out good but i am looking for different solutions. I dont sit fly very well yet, i back fly and freak fly ok and i can head down dive but as far as head down vrw no way. One time on a no pay video i was tracking at the plane and at the tandem and they went low i barrel roll tracked head down basically not true head down stayed with them and when they deployed the drouge i rolled over and luckily never lost them in the frame they were not in the middle of the frame but ok enough. anyone recomend anything or any techniques?? i fly rw tony suit on most tandems vids, i have a freefly suit i wear also and for the light 95 lbs chicks i have a camera suit with botties. so my range is great as far as falling very fast or real slow dressing for sucsess ect.. but when the tandem gets low i have to play catch up. anyhelp be realy appreciiated.
  22. so even the cam-eye 1 is not just a few wires it containes a microproscessor??????? i thought it was a switch for the on off part oh well ok thanks this is way out of my league then
  23. anyone have any sites of the schematics for a lanc controller?? basicly to build a custom cameye?? anyone build one of these before?? any luck??? toungue switchers are a snap. doing the google and yahoo and seem not to find a how to can anyone help or direct ??
