and are there for their own aggenda which have little to do with voter turn outs or the free will of people to determine thier own future. *** actually a big part of their agenda was preventing people from voting, and they failed miserably, the iraqi people wouldn't let the insurgents threaten them out of deciding their future History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. everyone else in this forum seems to understand where i was goin with my statements so i therefore am going to make no effort to justify them to you Just the byproduct. Please don't speak for all 120k troops over there. Just as most cops are aggressive overzelous individuals, I believe many tropps have the same mentality.*** this though, calling all of us over aggressive. well then another unfounded generalization is that all people who think soldiers and cops are over agressive just feel that way because they are too utterly pathetic to accomplish the same. sounds stupid doesn't it? that's cause it is. re-think that last statement. I'm not going to help you deviate this thread from its original purpose anymore, if you want to argue about the reasons for this war and the on-going "crusade" as you are implying against the religion of Islam than start another post and i'll be happy to discuss it there. i'm sick of every post regarding the President or the middle east deviating into a general argument about the war. the leftists will take every chance they can to try and get their point across and its getting rather tiring. back to the point. could you clarify what incident you are talking about. that was about as specific as saying "hey you're from colorado do you know john, he lives there." if an iraqi soldier was killed by an american without need surely that soldier is being punished as a war criminal, like i said mistakes happen, but at least we make the effort to right the wrongs so they don't continue to happen. About 4 months ago there was a news bite of a US soldier shooting and killing and unarmed and injured Iraqi soldier. Yes, he was arrested and was/will be tried, so they say. Oh, big mix-up. Isn't it great to default to things like, "It's not a perfect system, but it's the best in the world, bla, bla, bla..." Kind of alleviates one from dealing with the substantive issues, huh? As a closing statement, your reference to reading books is undermined by your general punctuation, syntax and overall grammar. Not attacking you or trying to be the spelling Nazi, I am a lazy ‘typer’ at times too, but I just find it odd. *** When i spoke of reading a book i was referring to your completely inaccurate explenation of operation desert shield/storm. i was making no shots at grammar punctuation or the like. take all the shots you'd like at the way i type i can be incredibly articulate and when i feel like it, but frankly arguing with you in this forum does not feel like its worth the effort. care to take any more shots at my education? Murder or not is subjective in these cases, just as whether it's an attack or a counter-attack. 9/11 was a counter-attack from a religion that is highly adversarial to the US. We have been trading attacks for decades, maybe centuries with the Muslims and 9/11, Desert Storm and the current Iraq situation is no different. Can Americans wonder off the compound in our good alli Sauidi Arabia? Hardly - the Muslims hate American's and let's face it; Muslims aren't welcome in most communities in the US. So what we call, "establishing Democracy" they call an invasion and ethintricity - it's purely perspective. Ya, nice movie, but let's leave Hollywood to Hollywood. Anytime? As in everytime? Please, didn't you hear about the Iraqi soldier that was injured and killed by a US soldier without need? There was vidoe of it, but since you apparently exclusively subscribe to Fox you might not have seen it. Ya, we're gonna help them whether they want it or not. Bahahaaha, and The Patriot Act is called so because.....? RICO was called so because.....? Don't get confused by the semantics of snappy titles....you know that thing about judging a book by its cover? *** i'm not judging a book by its cover, i'm saying these things because i am "in the book" i'm part of it. i'm here on the ground fighting the war. it was a snappy title as you put it, we are doing what we came here to do. Shit!! How do I get the damn thing in the bag!?!?
GQ_jumper replied to Jeth's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
when i first got my new canopy(brand new ZP!!!) there was a full proof way i found to get it in the bag. lay the canopy on the ground after you take it off your back, it doesn't matter how you lay it out, you can drop it in a pile if you'd like, this technique works either way. now heres the tricky part.... walk away from the canopy. go find a packer, and drop a couple bucks to have them pack it for you!!! jk. seriously though what i did was pay to have it repacked for them while i looked over their shoulder and had them explain to me what they were doing. then after i felt like i knew it, i would do it myself and ask one of them to look over my shoulder as i repacked it. and at pretty much any dropzone i guarantee there are friendly people with tons of experience willing to show you their techniques if they see you having trouble. i watched tons of people show me different techniques picked what worked for me, combined them and now i can get my canopy in the bag easier than any of them. don't get frustrated, give it time. and its probably best that you don't try to "figure it out" without someone watching cause you may develop a habit of doing soemthing wrong that could bite you in the ass later. good luck and take care History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. weight / mass / freefall speed
GQ_jumper replied to Skylark's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
like someone else said, they would fall at the same rate in a vacuum where there are no variables. in the sky what makes the difference is the air. as our bodies fall through the air we create drag/wind resistance, and when we reach a certain point the amount of drag matches how fast we are falling and we have reached terminal velocity. when a heavier person is falling through the air it takes more drag to reach terminal velocity(ie the air has to pull harder to slow that person down). more drag is created by more speed. therefore fatasses fall faster!!! i know its probably not worded the best way possible but it should clear it up a little for you History does not long entrust the care of freedom to the weak or the timid. --Dwight D. [ He is killing people who are trying to defend there country from the americans. the insurgents are not trying to defend their country against americans. please do a little bit of research into the current situation before you make statements like this. The majority of the insurgents are coming from other countries to fight the americans hence the title insurgent. we are not fighting people trying to liberate themselves this is an insurgency, and these people aren't fighting americans because they think we are trying to take over. they are fighting to prevent what we are trying to bring. a democratic coutnry into the middle east. they want their power in the government they see a country in a weakened state due to the change of power currently taking place. so they are attacking, not just americans, but the people of this country trying to make a difference. there are iraqi police officers now who volunteered to do a job to help their country in a positive way who have had their families kidnapped and killed. these insurgents are killing people who work for americans, construction workers, electiricians, people simply trying to provide for their families. you know how i know this to be true, because i walk outside everyday and meet an iraqi asking for help because terrorists are threatening the lives of his loved ones. the insurgents want control of the country, and they are fighting a losing war, don't believe what the news sources are saying trust me we ARE winnig this war. anytime an iraqi citizen is killed by americans it is one of two reasons. one the citizen was a terrorist/insurgent, or two it was an accident. as much as i hate to admit it, we make mistakes, things go wrong in combat it is a fact of life, we plan to avoid it but some things you just can't help. we do everything we can to remedy the damage we cause, and we definitely regret doing. *** The leaflets don't take sides, they are unbiased, i've seen them. they don't tell people who to vote for or that they have to vote, they simply encourage people to take a hand in determining their countries future. they are just like all those commercials that were playing before out elections telling everyone to get out and vote. if you guys want i'll get one and have my terps translate it and post what it says exactly in here. Effects of altitude on swooping
GQ_jumper replied to teamhypoxia's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
when i was down at sea level i noticed a definite increase in the distance of my swoops(they were only straight in double fronts though so take it for what its worth) and obivously the bottom end flare was much better at slower speeds. 300 win mag bro, you'll be looking at a 1/4 minute of angle weapon, if you have the right trigger, free floated barrel, and a few other extras on there. and like a few people have mentioned leupold scopes are the best there is. although one thing that may help is to start out on a rifle that doesn't have all those nice trimmings of a top of the line long range system, and get your basic shooting skills honed on that, so when you switch to the good stuff you can hollow out a quarter at 200M. Most really good electronic dance music is still to be found on vinyl only, so you have to dig in record stores and see what you like (there is good music on CD, but the real treasures are on vinyl imho). *** that's true that all the beswt tracks are on vinyl, but it usually doesn't take long for them to make their way onto a CD, when the bigger name DJ's get ahold of them. one thing i've seen in the last few years is that as techno and trance started to become more mainstream all the big well known DJ's are using a lot of the same tracks, just different remixes. you get a lot of the same with names like oakenfold and paul van dyke. don't think i don't like their mixes, those guys have some great talent but in my opinion the best mixes are done by the no name dj's you will only find at dance clubs, the ones who haven't hit it big and put out CD's yet. the place to see all the real talent used to be raves before the federal rave act came out and put an end to all that fun!!
