  1. Isn't that the same as "Dz.commer that hates America the most" award? Are you suggesting it makes sense to hate America? Nope....just that when people start making sense and stating factual information, they usually get accused of hating America. There shall be no questioning of the status quo. Get back in line monkey! Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  2. But but, its killing our kids! It leads to crystal meth and baby raping! And really, who needs to eat when you are on chemo anyway? All I know is that my last two years of college were my heaviest of usage and I got 4.0 every semester. Never got 4.0 beforehand Because of? Doubt it. In SPITE of? for certain. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  3. Just curious, I wonder what would happen in the USA called in it's debts? I was trying to find out how much debt we hold of OTHER countries, but I kept finding just info about OUR debt. I did find that Wikipedia has a pretty thorough page explaining how public debt works in the US: National Debt Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  4. I once sw a lista likey ths on the net myself. here is a link List Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  5. Says you. That's a personal opinion only. Maybe you just like the way the comparison goes, so that's the one you choose to select. After all, anything that makes America look like the evil Satan, has got to be good! I am going to need you to stop putting words into my mouth. Now. Never did I say I hate America. In fact, I love living in this country. And that is with experience of living in Europe. I fail to see how ensuring accurate usage of statistics makes me hate America. So I will thank you to not infer that I hate this country. It is an easy way out and one too often taken. In any case, I couldn't care less if these stats point to any country having the lowest crime rate. I just was pointing out that your method is WRONG. I don't think you are a liar. I just think you are incorrect. The proof has been said again AND AGAIN AND AGAIN. I was just repeating what has already been shown yet you ignore it AGAIN AND AGAIN AND AGAIN. The USDOJ even says murder is the only solid way to compare, but I am sure you will ignore that too. The British government says the same thing. We have given proof that the murder rate is the most constant way for comparison but you choose to ignore it and keep spewing other stats. Just because you choose a source that gives stats for different countries does not mean a direct comparison is wise. Do you have any idea what goes into just OUR crime surveys? Believe me, there is ALOT of room for difference of opinion in non homicide violent crimes just in the nature of the questions that are asked. But the one thing that does not have that much room for difference is murder. And that is NOT my opinion. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  6. You gotta dig deeper than the overall numbers. Assault is the biggest contributor to the rate and the numbers for Canada include level 3 assault which is defined as: 3. Includes dangerous operation of motor vehicle... Okay, so how do we find out what portion of those assaults are "level 3" which don't correspond with U.S. violent crime statistics? The web site I quoted doesn't show such a breakdown. If we could exclude those, then we could compare "violent crime" equally. And that being the case, we still don't know if Canada's violent crime rate is higher or lower than the U.S. Well, well, look at how the credibility of my detractors crumbles with a little research. Here is a sample breakdown of the number of assaults in Canada, per 100,000 population, by level number. Here is another source which states that 77% of assaults are "level 1". So, let's say we rule out all level-2 and level-3 assaults, to get rid of the disputed incidents, and use only level-1 assaults in a comparison. That makes the "violent crime" definitions equal between the U.S. and Canada, and in fact, actually favors Canada somewhat by excluding level-2's. Previously, I showed a violent crime rate for Canada of 946, of which 732 of that was assault. So let's reduce the assault proportion by the amount that constitutes level-2 and level-3 assaults: 77% of 732 = 564. That's 168 less than previously. So we'll reduce the violent crime rate: 946 - 168 = 778. And when when we go back and once again compare Canada's (new) rate of 778 with America's 475, that still shows Canada with a violent crime rate 61% higher than America's. And that's even while generously excluding all of Canada's level-2 and level-3 assaults, which may not match the American definition. The "emperor's" are wearing no clothes... Once again. The only TRUE way to compare crime across countries is by Murder. Violent crime is different everywhere as is police procedure for ghandling them. But murder is handled just about the same eveywhere. Please stop using stats that don't corrolate well. I hate stat abuse. rhemwa - thanks for remembering the liberal thing. You like me, you really do! Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  7. Just the U.S. side. Maybe an inspection every 120-days without un-packing it, unless something was found to warrent it, and a 180-day or annual re-pack/inspection? Derek That might be a alternative, but that is one thing I usually do myself with a rigger anyway. At least once a month I am asking my rigger a question about something maybe suspect on my rig. And really, pretty much the rest of the world goes on a 180 day or longer cycle and I cannot imagine that all their skydivers are leaps and bounds more attentive to their rigs than most of our skydivers. And it seems to work for them. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  8. Dude, I never said I didn't like iTunes. Take that up with Thantanos. In fact, I think iTunes is a great piece of software. Personally I used MediaMonkey for my library management, but that is mostly cause I found it first. It is a pretty great piece of software itself anyway. I just don't think iPod is the end all, be all of mp3 players. And podcasting? NOT an iPod thing. Hell, not even iPod specific. Its a recorded sound file. that is it. The only thing the iPod made was the name. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  9. So you then know that skydiver in all the other countries that have 180 day or more repacks are great at maintaining their gear? Or are you strictly going from the US side? Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  10. Will you take me with you? I can help you study.
  11. Wait, the sport is changing and making some idiots forget to repack their WET reserves? umm, yeah. Sorry man, but if you pond swoop and don't do a repack afterwards, that is your neglect. The repack is not there to protect you from being a moron and not maintaining your gear. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  12. An airplane used for commercial operations (such as skydiving) requires an inspection every 100 hours of use, plus an annual inspection. I'd like to see the same kind of 'double standard' applied to skydiving, such that a parachute system that is used by students or available for rent has a 120 day repack and inspection, while a rig used by the owner and not in a commercial application should have a longer repack cycle. . Sure. I guess I should have clarified about non-commercial use myself, but I was just going of the previous post. A double standard certainly would be...interesting. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  13. That does not explain PIA endorsement of it. The Industry would stand to make LESS money if it was implemented. And what about the other countries that use a 180 (or more) repack cycle? I guess they are totally in danger? we better call England and Australia (just two of many) and let them know! And the connection to an airplane? I would say an aireplane is a MUCH more complicated piece of machinery and yet they only have a yearly inspection. Seems like an airplane should go to 120 days. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  14. My world opened up when I purchased Flash 4-- (webdesign not on my mind) I am a self taught graphic designer who works in CorelDraw 09 as a recreation and Flash inspired me due to it's ability to import my CorelDraw custom graphics. (draw capabilities in Flash are for toddlers) I have just downloaded a free trial in Freehand 10 and taking some tutorials as thinking of upgrading to Flash8 this winter. I still enjoy the hell -outa Flash 4 (inspiration)
  15. Does it support podcasting? To me that is way more important than supporting WMA. Out of all my audio files (too many Gig) I have exactly one WMA file. I have far more acc files, but mostly MP3s. But podcasts kick ass. I love how everyone acts like a podcast is something new. Its a frickin recorded sound file. Its been around for years. Winamp has had streaming personal audio channels (shoutcast) for quite some time. You kids and your old fangled technology. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  16. I like to enlighten my friends on stuff like this. Most of my girlfriends know the joy of Cottenelle wipes, and most of the men look at me like, "huh?" when I mention them. For all of you who don't know, they are located in the toilet paper aisle and come in a plastic box (you can also get refills). Just leave the box near your toilet and when you need to freshen up at some point during the day, it's right there for you. They are flushable too. It's win-win for everyone! I use Wal-marts flushable wipes. Better than toilet paper. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  17. I think its anal to avoid a site simply b/c it uses flash. also intros don't bug me and if i don't care to watch them........i click the skip link....It really is not that hard to do....you just have to not be lazy. Tell the person that has a visual disability about using a site with Flash. It does not make 508 compliance easy. ANd that is the main point. Flash is NOT accessible by everyone or even the majority. Most people do not have broadband yet. So what do they do when whole sites are done in flash? And if there is a skip intro then fine. Not every site has one. And just so we note it, I was not the one who said they will not visit a site just because it has flash. But it does piss me off. Especially those flash popup ads. With sound is even worse. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  18. None of that is iPod specific save for the address book and calender. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  19. I have no idea what you are talking about(with this attack thing, not the indictment part), btu I do disagree with your use of THEIR. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  20. Yeah, I am so anal that I don't my bandwidth eaten by crap I don't need. And I am so anal that I want my site to reach as many of my customers as possible. This is what I do for a living so yeah, I might be a little anal about sites that don't work for as many people as possible. It really is not that hard to do....you just have to not be lazy. Glad you got in. Does not mean there is not a problem though. Glad you like to sit through flash intros when you don't really want to though. I don't. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  21. Why should my tax money be subsidizing your parents. Why don't you take care of your own? Why didn't they save for retirement? You're right though....it's horrible that elderly people have to budget just so that people who lost their entire TOWN can get some food, shelter, and medicine. Old people need flat screen TVs, goddamnit!!! Ugghhh..this thread is disgusting. I agree with your sentiments. Also, I see that you are new here. If you plan to stick around SC, you should probably learn to take it in stride and realize that we have many "disgusting" topics here or you are going to have a coronary. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  22. PLEASE NOTE: Anything I say following is about a particular site!!! I agree with everything you just said. In fact, a friend and I were having a similar conversation last weekend. We were talking about flah intros on sites. He wanted to put one on his team site. I said that was cool. A personal site should and can be as artistic and flashy as one wants. But when I go to a business site, I am there to get information, not see some silly Flash movie detailing the greatness of their product. That does not sell me. At the very least, they should ALWAYS have a "skip intro" link so I can avoid it if I want. Flash is great when used properly. It can be a wonderful interface for making web applications (fully developed pieces of software rather than websites), but unfortunately, the abuse of Flash is much more prevailant. Its the "look how cool we are" mentality. And many are guilty, not just skydiving websites. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  23. Yeah, that certainly explains the REST of the countries. yes we often give more, because we have more. But you are simply wrong to say that no one ever offers to help us. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  24. Some of you may remember the old hitchhiker's guide adventure game. It is a text based game that follows the story pretty well. They created some flash versions: Hitchhiker game and here is a walkthrough (the game will intentionally lie to you) Guide Go forth and be unproductive Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
  25. Like I said.. Jump through Hoops. I have 2 other MP3 Players now. Plug them in, They show as a Drive. Do what you want. MUCH easier. I agree. Everyone has bought into the "iPod is so cool" idea they ignore all its little idiosycracies so much that eventually they just accept them as "normal" and "easy". I actually saw a lady caressing her iPod on the metro yesterday. It is insane. My Dell DJ is similar. I cannot just plug it in as a drive..though it does use Dell Explorer which is directly integrated with Windows Explorer.. But for me, it does what I want and I really bought it for one reason: 20 hour battery life. Plus, replacing the lithium ion battery is easier when ever it finally dies. But si nce the new Dell does not have the battery life, next time, I will be getting something that is more plug and play for sure. This thing is pretty tough so that will probably be a while though. Why yes, my license number is a palindrome. Thank you for noticing.
