Hmm.. I've found that I pass by a level III on my walks. He looks pretty familiar too. Time to find a new route. 60 gb is out of my price range. Besides, no plans to feed the songs into a real stereo.. that's what all the other equipment is for! So we went to the store and got the 30gb with the extended warranty. Wow!! That sure stirred things up, glad to get a response. He wants the nano for the durability aspect, he'll be using it mainly at work. (He's in construction.) However, this boy is music obsessed. He has an unbelievable amount of music and it's all on iTunes. That is what he likes the best. So it's going to be an iPod. Not another brand. But I worry that he'll be dissapointed with the storage of the nano and that maybe we should just get the 30gb one.... Hmm.. decisions. Oh yeah, another reason he wants a nano is because it won't skip because there are no moving parts. I think that is a bad argument.. I didn't know that mp3 players had issues with skipping? Hey! I just got my taxes back today, so I'm getting my boyfriend an Ipod. So which one do I get? He needs something durable because he'll use it at work (construction) and he's a music fanatic so the more space the better. Which one gives you the most bang for your buck considering durability, and space? Nano or 30gb? I heard from someone that the batteries on the nano die after 1.5 years and the whole thing needs to be replaced. Is that true? Also, do you know if you can purchase extended warranties? Are you employed in the field? I thought that in psychology you needed to have a masters to be employable in the field. So that is what you could get! I will need to get my masters to become a certified clinician. I'm trying to keep the grades high so I can just be a TA or an RA through grad school so I can get tuition free. No!! Don't risk it. I've jumped with what I thought was a small cold before and I don't know what happened, but there was excruciating pain in freefall and then I got a big ol' nosebleed. Couldn't have been good stuff going on in there. Felt like I was going to pass out. You could tear an ear-drum and suffer some potentially long-term hearing loss, damage your sinuses badly and just generally have a bad time. I just turned 23, 1,350 jumps all funded through packing. I lived in a tent for a while to be able to afford more skydiving. Now that I'm in school and can't pack full time (and live in Seattle) my jumps are slowing down, but I still think I did pretty good. I've never put a jump or any gear purchases on a credit card. I started in highschool with a chunk of money I'd saved from summer jobs, that helped me fund AFF and my first used gear purchase. Yeah, I read parade.. haha. No actually, I'm majoring in Speech and Hearing Sciences. Linguistics is a key aspect of the field. Our teachers stress that the different dialects of English (yes, NorthEastern accents, Southern accents, etc. are considered dialects) are simply that, different dialects. I voted for ti-tay-nium. Edited to add: Actually, I have a test on this stuff tomorrow. We get to translate Standard American English (mid-west) into a Southern Accent, a Northern accent, African American Vernacular, and into a disordered child's speech. Try dropping a crocodile or something into the environment that humans have created for themselves (of houses, refrigerators, cars, on-line bill pay, automatic check-out at the grocery store) and see how it does! I bet it would have trouble doing most human stuff. I think the difference is just that we have molded our own environment to suit us so much, and have adapted to it. Plenty of words exhibit a similar shift in pronunciation with the addition of new syllables. Take the word photo, photograph, photography, photographic. Notice the change in the vowels? especially the a and the second o. The fact that people pronounce it differently does not imply stupidity... just dialectal and idiolectal differences... So let's not get all high and mighty about how people who pronounce things differently are stupid. Except for George W. Bush. As a packer of five years (with something like 15,000 pack jobs) not setting the brakes is a pretty bonehead move. If you can't reach the tail, somethings up.
