    Sit Fly

I would go out with a coach and do a sit-train exit. Very helpful. If you get a decent coach they should be able to just plop you into a sit. (After a bit of coaching and practice on the ground.) Its a fun exit, and it allows you to concentrate on the perfect position and not worry so much about stability until they release you. 3. Are you serious?!!?!?!? Just shove it in your trunk unpacked for pete's sake! "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham
  4. Jeanne: I've got one you can have for cheap!!!! Its older than I am... and I learned to freefly in it I'll probably be at snohomish on sunday... "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham
  5. I think that you guys should use packers. You come out to the DZ to relax and have fun.. right??? The more money packers make, the more they can jump, the better skydivers they are, so when you hire a packer, you're also paying to increase the talent of regular jump-bums on the DZ! Hiring a packer is just a really good thing all around. It gets you up in the air quicker, it saves your energy for jumping and drinking, you're directly supporting the local economy, and it helps to increase the talent level at your local dz! 7. Hey man, there are a bunch of VT skydivers! I grew up in blacksburg, so I learned to skydive with them. go to www.air-sports.com and you can learn about the closest dropzone to the college. If you want to e-mail me I can give you some e-mail address' of people to contact. karenmeal@hotmail.com "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham
  8. Most DZ's don't care if you have a working visa! if you're packing its likely cash, so you really don't need one. When I went to Oz to pack I got a six month tourist visa which was pretty esay. It took maybe two weeks to get. If you can't get a job packing at a foreign DZ, you can always come over here and pick apples or something. 9. No charge??? holy cow! I should probably quit procrastinating. Thanks JP! Just curious, how long did it take to get it back? Its very cloudy and rainy up here. My plan to go to school w/out skydiving distracting me is working. Why don't you come visit us on friday for my 21st? I don't have anyone but Jeff to get sloshed with! Oh please? 10. Just posting to see if this has happened to anyone else, and if their cypress survived. Recently, my cypress quit working. When I try to turn it on.. the lights flash appropriately, but instead of beginning a countdown it just flashes 0 and then shuts off after about a second. We confirmed that I had put the batteries in correctly. They are due to be changed in about six months... my cypress is about three years old... Never had any trauma.. hasn't gotten wet.. not been sitting in the sun.... Checked my manual and its not an error code or anything. Has this happened to anyone else? 11. I don't reckon its too hard, just send out a bunch of emails. Probably help a bit if you were a rigger or something. I found it pretty easy to be mobile as a packer, as long as you're neat and fast.. people see that and trust you immediately! Lodi, CA always needs packers and there seems to be a lot of SA folks down there... maybe give Bill a call. Now is the time to find a job for the summer! 13. Essentially, I was trying to say that nowadays, the intent of freeflying is RW performed on all axis. I was trying to offer a current definition of freeflying. Not explain the history... "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham
  14. Hey man, Picton rocks! you'll have so much fun there. Andrew England is a really great instructor. Just watch out for Ray. You'll see what I mean.. Great DZ to learn at. "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham
  15. Is freefall really getting that boring that you need to add music? Just freaking skydive and leave your music on the ground. "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham
  16. So what exactly is the USPA going to require? Coaching at c or d level from a canopy-coach? huh? Did I miss something.. It seems to me if the USPA were going to require canopy coaching they would want to require it before a C or D liscense.... What would be the reasoning to wait that long? 17. Freeflying is all about relative work. Thats why its called VRW. For those people who saying freeflying is just goofing around.. so not true. You may learn somewhat by goofing around... but I think that once you're proficient the goal is almost always relative work. Freestyle is done solo. Sure there might be minor interactions with the camera man.. but generally its one person going off on a series of predetermined moves. 18. Yeah, so my question was triggered by the fact that this past sunday, skydive number 40 was naked. Man it was great!! I'm normally a semi-modest person so it was spectacular to just let loose. We did it after the tandems had left and it was myself and two naked guys and one clothed guy filming... needless to say I was the only person on the video. It wasn't that cold.. ok yes it was. FLying was harder to control and I majorly screwed up landing. I landed right smack on the target but in doing that I kinda tumbled feet then knees. Good for only 40 jumps and made for a funny video. I reccomend every one try this atleast once. I'm thinking this may be a monthly occurence for me... anyways.. just thought I would share.
  19. how many people have tried this? just curious.
