  1. the pie plate.. or pizza delivery boy look.. or whatever you want to call it... is when you have your hands up by your ears instead of lower, down by your waist. You want to learn to fly with your arms lower down and more relaxed so that you're not flying in a maxxed out position all the time. Keep in mind that it is really hard to take docks when your arms are way up high. When you teach yourself to depend on your legs for fall rate control and stability then it frees up your arms to do other things. Probably should find someone on the DZ to do some coaching with you. Head down is pretty hard to tackle unless you have someone critiquing your body position and/or doing video. "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham

Looks like a really steep track to me... "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham

So its like a cross between tracking and flocking but with head-up moves as well? So can I call all those jumps where I simoutaneously chased a person and docked on them an atmonauti? "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham

I still don't get it, is it a modified tracking position that can be used on normal tracking dives? I think I might be confusing it with what I;ve heard called crabbing. Is this just a totally separate thing from tracking though? By the way.. too bad that page isnt in english. "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham

  7. Did it have HMA lines? "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham
  8. I've got around 12-1300 jumps on the original line set on my stiletto... I've never ever had line twists, but the openings are a bit wacky. I realize this is very very bad.. and I actually just contacted pd about ordering some new lines. "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham
  9. Because hes let me put probably 100 + jumps on his gear!! Hoorray!! And he let me live in his trailer when I first moved to CA and it was cold.. When all the other guys scoffed that I wanted to downsize (because chicks can't swoop) JP lent me his gear and encouraged me. If no one else wanted to do hop and pops with me.. I could always count on JP to get the plane up. Oh..and I got to cover him in feathers. "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham
  10. Yeah.. we know thats what the manual says.. I'm just curious who actually changes them out after 500 jumps.. I don't think I know anyone that does. (Unless they get an error code.) "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham
  11. Just curious... I never really heard the 500 jump thing stressed too much, so didn't give it too much thought until my unit quit working properly and I was chatting with the SSK people. By the way.. I don't think the batteries are the issue with my unit. "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham
  12. You're citing a study that had only 8 people, no control group, and lasted only two weeks per phase? doesn't hardly sound reliable to me. Want me to cite my source? Here ya go: Dr. James Kenney, PhD, RD, FACN Nutrition Research Specialist. I don't think that any dietitian would disagree with the statements that I made. 13. I've had a dream where I went in.. then I got up out of the crater that I had made and looked around to see if anyone had seen my bonehead move... then pretended nothing happened. I have weird dreams though.. last night I dreamt that I was breast feeding a squirrel. WTF? was my boyfriend pinching my nipples in my sleep or something???? 14. Atkins is an unhealthy diet! The only reason that people lose weight is by taking in less calories than their body uses. Period... There is no magic to losing weight, you eat less calories.. you lose weight. Shocking your body into ketosis.. as Atkins reccomends initially... causes your body to use up its stores of glycogen (basically glucose.. so essentially stored carbs) that are in the muscles and liver. So this is essentially losing water weight. Its a trick to make you think that this diet is wonderful and magical and working. As soon as carbs are re-introduced you will immediately gain this weight back. The only reason that people lose weight is by decreasing the amount of calories they intake and increasing exercise. My nutrition professor passed out a great brochure today on why a low-carb diet is wrong.. I'll mention a couple of the big points. Heart disease risk increases. People on these low carb diets are likely to consume more saturated fat and cholesterol. Cancer risk increases. You're cutting out vital nutrients from your diet that have been proven to decrease cancer risks. Osteoporosis can be caused by excess protein intake which increase the loss of calcium in the urine. Gout can be caused by foods that are high in purines.. such as meats, poultry, nuts, seeds, eggs and seafood. Kidney stones are more likely to form on a high protein diet as compared to a diet that is high in carbs and fruits and veggies. Weird ass keto-breath. 15. It was my 18th birthday and I kinda wanted to impress the other kids at school.... Almost on every single jump I get second thoughts on exit as I am climbing out and waiting for others to get out... But I keep jumping because I know that all my friends would laugh at me if I hang on. So that is why I skydive. Not to get laughed at. 16. Do not try to cut away the reserve! Somebody at my old DZ tried to do that and guess what... half way through he dropped the hook knife, and got allllll kinds of f***ed up. I'm not sure what I would do, be one of those situations that I would have to be in and observe all the particulars to make a decision. 19. I'm guessing it had something to do with the wind and how light you are loading your canopy. At the DZ I used to jump at, they had a strict rule of winds over 15 grounded students. At such a light wingloading... you may want to consider grounding yourself when the winds are getting that high and gusty. 20. Have you asked your DZ if they have some hanging harnesses? I think that most dropzones atleast have one laying around somewhere.. As far as where to purchase one, I'm not sure, most of the ones that I have seen/used were put together by a rigger at the dz. So perhaps you could talk to an experienced rigger at your dropzone about making one? It really shouldn't be too hard to build and I wouldn't reckon it would cost too much. 21. Maybe try digging your heels into the air.. don't push down with your toes. I think you're just going to have to try muscleing your exits to get it right. Is their something like a 182 you can jump? something that can go reallllly slow when you exit? Maybe doing that would help some since when you just hop off a 182 the relative wind is almost immediately coming straight up from the ground.. 22. Davis CA does 18ks fairly often and they also will do some 20 grand jumps sometimes.... I would call them and find out. They also do 30k jumps maybe once or twice a year. Personally I think that the process involved in jumping from over twenty grand is a waste of your time and money. It will cost upwards of 400 dollars for that jump!!!! www.skydance.net should have some info about these things.. "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham
  23. Its possible that the people you are trying to search for have moved since they got their ticket and forgot to notify the FAA of their new address... I had to use my old address to find my name... Whoops "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham
  24. If this is only your level 2 AFF jump, DO NOT GIVE ANYONE GEAR ADVICE! It's kinda scary that you're even trying. AFF students should only listen to their AFF instructors, so unless your instructor tells you to do something like that to your gear, don't even think about it! And.. line twists are mega-common.
