  1. I voted Crepe Myrtle.. They have really pretty flowers. I also seem to recall that they bloom in a slightly different time of year than most other things so that would be nice. Of course.. I don't know anything about gardening in Florida. "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham
  2. Colorado is definitely where I hope to end up someday. "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham
  3. The few times I've sold stuff online I was actually a very responsible seller! "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham
  4. Maybe he's just procrastinating about going to the post office. I do that allllll the time. "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham
  5. My Honda Civic is about to hit 200,000. I've had to replace the clutch and the alternator, but I think that's it for major repairs. I'm about to get a bunch of work done though, brakes, timing belt, fuel filter, muffler, etc. "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham
  6. Good for you that you've retired from such a mundane activity. Tough love? "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham
  7. Well, actually it is about the best schools. Iowa and Wisconsin are tied for the number one spot in speech language pathology. (My field.) University of Washington (my current school) is right behind those two at number 3. Western Washington and U of Colorado are also both very good schools that would definitely be able to satisfy my scholastic needs. Besides, I don't think I would make a post on here asking a bunch of random skydivers to rate the quality of various graduate schools in speech language pathology. Wherever I move to, my boyfriend will be coming along with me. (Sorry Steve.) So in my decision of where I ultimately go to grad school, I will also need to consider his needs. He is quite flexible about where we move, but it would be selfish of me to take advantage of that. I wouldn't move him to someplace like Iowa unless there was someplace for him to skydive and/or I got a good scholarship. Anyways.. Just found out today.. no scholarship from Wisconsin. Definitely can't afford 25 k in tuition per year there.. so that is out of the running. Now.. Iowa, Colorado or Washington? 8. To me, skydiving is not just a sport. In fact, just last week I wrote a paper about the culture of skydiving. Of course.. this is coming from someone who dropped out of college, moved across the country and lived in a tent for a while just for the sake of skydiving more frequently. You probably think I'm nuts. But life has worked out great for me. "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham

  10. I know the feeling! I've only gone over 30 days once.. and that was recovering from knee surgery this past fall. It sucked. I started to feel like an imposter of my former self. But now that I'm back to jumping (atleast I will be when the weather clears) it is all good again. I don't think you're on the way to crazy town. You just love the sport and just about everyone who skydives remembers/ or is that passionate about the sport too. "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham

  12. I love ice-skating!! When I was growing up I used to just throw my ice-skates over my shoulder and wander around the countryside looking for undiscovered ponds with clean ice. And am a big fan of winter.. so that is actually a huge attraction for me. The little bit of snow that we get in Seattle just teases me. As far as quality of schools.. I am attending the UW in Seattle right now. They are a good school, considered number 3 for speech therapy, but the program I applied to is a brand new master's program. The person who started the program and the head-coordinator just up and quit! I'm worried that the program is going to crumble. What are the closest dropzones next to Madison, Iowa City and Boulder, and what are they like? Got many freeflyers? Is there tons of drama? Are there opportunities for my boyfriend to work as a rigger, tandem instructor and videographer? "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham
  13. U of Iowa and U of Wisc. are the top two spech pathology schools. I'm not really super interested in living in either state.. but I figured I would apply for shits and giggles. Washington is where I'm at right now. I can't take the winters for much longer. Yeah, summers are nice. But what about the rest of the year? Hmm.. decisions. 14. Well.. all the grad schools that I applied to have finally made their decisions.. now it's time for me to make a decision. Anyone got some insight or advice as to living in the suburbs of Boulder, Iowa City or Madison? Good DZ is a must.. affordable living is a bonus, but I'm willing to commute a reasonable distance. I would like a place that has fairly easy access to outdoor activities (hiking, kayaking, snowboarding/skiing) but if there is a kick ass DZ, then that option is negotiable for a few years. And there must be a good DZ. Anyone? "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham

  16. I took a few years off after highschool and worked as a packer full time before starting college. I was getting about 500 + jumps a year while I was a full time packer and living in a tent on a DZ. Money was good then.. Since I've been in school I've made 400 jumps (100 per year) but I also was packing every weekend.. so the jumps slowly accumulated, plus some were coaching jumps. 18. Speeding in a school zone... haha. Just kidding. I voted envy. Really.. I'm just sick of being a poor college student. I envy all those folks who are financially stable, don't have to always worry that their car is about to quit, can afford to make a fair amount of jumps and travel to skydive.. I'm just sick of being financially strapped for the last 4 years. On the plus side though.. I will likely be graduating from college with zero debt.. On the down side.. that won't last for long as I start grad school. "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham

  21. I used to have a waterbed. I actually really loved it.. except for when it burst! I remember the first time it happened, I woke up in the middle of the night in a pool of water and my first thought was, 'I can't believe I wet the bed.' Then I realized what happened and started pumping water out. Really really really crap way to spend the wee hours of the morning.
