Congratulations to the Queen! I'll never forget visiting West Point for a Labor Day Weekend of 2001 with only 70 jumps under my belt and being welcomed by you onto a bunch of RW jumps. I really appreciate the mentoring that you so freely provided to me. -Karen "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham

Phil was definitely my all time favorite jump pilot. I had a whole lot of fun with him this summer. "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham

Here is a photo of Cecil working on his head down with me. The other is of Phil flying the caravan. "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham

That is correct Steve. They were all Snohomish jumpers. "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham -

Local news is saying that wreckage has been found. No official word yet as to survivors/fatalities. "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham -

PM me for names. (I don't have everyone's last names though.) *** Since I do not have "official" information (although it is from a good source) I will only give out the names to people from the skydiving community that I personally know. -Karen "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham -
That's a sweet thing to say. To respond to that you should get a calculator and type in: 5138008 and then turn the calculator upside to show him. "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham

Then it's just naming dropping Krisanne.. tsk tsk. Now really. I've got my first therapy session in an hour and a half and am in a mad coloring frenzy at school making stimulus items! Who knew there was so much coloring involved in grad school? "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham

I don't even understand how that is physically possible. I'm at school from about 8:30-5 (or later) and then doing homework from about 5:30 to 10 with a dinner break. "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham

That is the exact case for my class on behavioral research!! Totally boring (stuff I have learned many times already). I just want to hear stories about my professor's experiences in the field. So far school is good. Lots of work, but I am enjoying it. Having 4 sessions of therapy to prepare for and debrief takes the biggest portion of my time. The classes are really no big deal right now. I don't even think grad school would be much more difficult than undergrad if it weren't for the clients. Anyways.. time to get back to work. I officially start grad school today! We've had orientations all week long and yesterday I got to find out who my clients will be. I was happy to learn that both of my clients have pretty straight forward issues to deal with. No rare diagnoses or anything like that. So that is good. Ok.. now be honest, just how hard is grad school and how different is it than being an undergrad? -Karen "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham

So a funny thing happened on the way to work today . . .

Hmm.. still doesn't sound funny to me. Sounds like you ruined someone's day to amuse yourself and are now trying to play some hero card because you caught someone stealing. (And how exactly does erroneously charging you a bit extra - what, a dollar? - to donate to a charity - albeit one that you disagree with - amount to stealing?) I worked as a coffee girl for a while. I can guarantee you that if someone walked up to order their drink and was immediately confrontational with me for no reason, I would quite likely get frazzled and screw up. Working as a packer is not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Also, as so many people are taught to believe, a college degree is not necessary in order to live a meaningful, happy, and comfortable life.

How nice of you to ruin someone's day just to amuse yourself. "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham -
I don't think I would like Florida weather much either. The only place where I have lived where I didn't complain about the weather was in the mountains of southwestern Virginia. Hot summers with nice rivers and lakes to go play in, beautiful thunderstorms, gorgeous fall colors, a winter with a nice amount of snow and always a chance of a white christmas and a pretty spring. I've learned that the next place that I live has to be one with four distinct seasons. Constant sun or constant rain bore me! I wonder if that is the same error code I have with my PC-9 when I was having camera troubles at Prairie. Mine flashed the eject symbol and said c-21. I googled it and the advice that I found was to remove all batteries and the tape and smack the camera around a bit to dislodge any dirt. Also, spraying a bit of compressed air and letting the camera sit in a dry area for a little bit helped. "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham

Usually I like the end of summer, I've always loved the changing of seasons. Except for this year. Up here in craptastical ol' Seattle we completely skipped the summer season. Counting down till June of 2009 when we can finally move to a place that has more than a week long yearly fling with the sun. I'm bitter about the weather. Well my boyfriend and I split some of the stuff that we will share. With two of us going backpacking for 4 days this would be about a 35-40 pound pack for me. (He carries several pounds more than me because he is nice - and stronger than me.) "Life is a temporary victory over the causes which induce death." - Sylvester Graham

I think that is a complete list of what I might bring on a 4 day backpacking trip: thermarest and the chair thing that it can fold into 2+ pairs of good wool socks (so that you always have a dry pair) 1 pair of poly-pro long johns top and bottom 1 warm wool hat 1 down vest 1 fleece jacket 1 water proof jacket and pair of waterproof pants 1 t-shirt and 1 pair of quick-drying shorts pair of gloves sometimes gaiters water filtration system lexan bowl, mug, spoon, pot w/ lid and pot holder, nalgene bottle (great for measuring) tevas and boots hiking poles tent + fly sleeping bag head lamp cards lighter and/or flint and steel first aid kit w/ lots of mole skin and whistle bug repellent and sunblock topo map and compass bear spray compression stuff sack for sleeping bag (Lined with a black garbage bag for extra waterproofing) whisperlight stove and fuel food in ziplock bags (possibly a large ziploc bag for storing trash afterwards and always carry extra food) wine and wine bottle opener
