  1. Well, they're not totally "forthcoming" about the no parachute jump, but the rest is all real. Check out "tlc - daredevils.mpg" and "tlc - daredevils2.mpg" in that same folder (/from tv/). It's a TV show about Joe Jennings. Greg Gasson makes a number of appearances. Dave http://www.skydivingmovies.com
  2. The word about accidents spreads fast (although full of rumors and mistakes). Seems like every time there's an accident SOMEBODY here on dropzone.com has the details though. I think you could get far better info from the public than from the USPA anyway. If it sounds like too much work to maintain the page, I'm sure you could get some knowledgable volunteers to help or maybe team up with another website. I definitely think it would be a valuable addition to dropzone.com so I hope you go ahead with it. Dave http://www.skydivingmovies.com
  3. Hmmm... it shouldnt ask for a username or password, but you can try using user: anonymous and leave password blank. What software are you using to connect? Dave http://www.skydivingmovies.com
  4. What kind of suit was it? Dave http://www.skydivingmovies.com
  5. Flaps? Those are like the rudder... don't need to use em in the air! They're just fancy things airline pilots use, right?
  6. Keep in mind thats exactly where your handles are. I also have a Z1 and can't really see my handles with it on. Other than that and the fogging under canopy in cold weather (I just open it a crack), I really like it. One thing I haven't noticed is the noise. I'm sure it is quieter, but its just not something that's really stood out for me. Maybe if I went back to my old protec for a jump I'd really notice. Dave http://www.skydivingmovies.com
  7. I know (hope) you're kidding, but I don't think it's true. I've made 2 jumps on a manta 288 loaded at around .45. I thought the lack of control was kind of scary. I'm sure the length of the brake lines can be changed, but on the one I jumped they were completely slack until my hands were below my shoulders. It flew like a bus. The flare was so weak I think I coulda pulled down only one toggle and still landed ok. I definitely didn't like the way it felt. I was coming in a little high so I did some S-turns on final. Full toggle inputs down to maybe 50 feet, just to get it to turn at all. Thank goodness I don't have to rent anymore. Dave http://www.skydivingmovies.com
  8. Notice she doesn't deny hating him..
  9. hmm... I don't think so. Lots of other base jumping videos though. I'll keep looking. Dave http://www.skydivingmovies.com
  10. Hey Tom, mind if I put in on my skydiving videos server (http://www.skydivingmovies.com)? Got an ever bigger version by any chance? Dave http://www.skydivingmovies.com
  11. Uh huh... going into my last year (assuming I pass everything) in aerospace engineering. What industry are you in? I'll need a job in a year.
  12. Hehe. He was one of my AFF level 1 JMs. Really nice guy.
  13. hehe when that cord breaks I wonder how fun it'll be. Hope you're using the soft quilted stuff! Dave http://www.skydivingmovies.com
  14. I've never done it myself, but pilots have been known to throw a roll of TP out the window... It'll unroll, like you said. They can turn around and run into it with the prop over and over. It's a game to see how many times you can run back through it. Apparently has no affect on piston engines. Dunno how a turboprop would handle it, but I'd suggest single ply just in case.
  15. Damn. I've been to cross keys a couple times. Dunno how ya find people that land off there. Can't imagine trying to find a canopy or worse yet a freebag. Thanks for sharing! If ya have any videos of successful pack jobs, I like those too.
  16. Yuck. I started a summer job today at a big aerospace company. They went on for like 10 minutes about sending email. Never even got into web pages. If my job is anything like my job was last summer, I'll be on dropzone.com a lot at work! Hope they don't monitor internet use too often.... Dave http://www.skydivingmovies.com
  17. Sounds a lot like why I started the site!
  18. WOW that story sounds familiar. My PC was cocked (just didn't create enough drag), but my opening was about the same. I never really had time to think about pulling my handles. Before I knew it I had reached back for the bridle. Pulled the pin (or pulled the bag out, I'm not really sure if the PC had already opened the container or not...I don't think so), and it flipped me over. I watched the bag bounce over my right side. Canopy opened, flipped me back over, and I had a couple line twists. Next time, you gonna pull the bridle or go straight for the handle(s)? I really don't know how I'd react next time. Didn't like opening on my back, but I hate the idea of sending my reserve right into my pilot chute or probably my opening main (cut away or not). Dave http://www.skydivingmovies.com
  19. Another one that might wake ya up a little... in the /CRW/ folder, check out CRW&RW_in_one.avi. (ftp://ftp.skydivingmovies.com/public/crw/CRW&RW_in_one.avi). It's about 10 megs. Most of it is a typical CRW jump. They form a stack. Suddenly, a 4 way team, just breaking off, falls right by them. It's CLOSE. I bet at least a few people needed a change of pants and a new outlook on life after that one. Sorry you can't link directly to files anymore (from dropzone.com, anyway). Sangiro, any way of setting up a way to link to ftp:// instead of http? My old server used to forward you if you just used http:// instead but I don't think the new one is capable of that. Andy? Dave http://www.skydivingmovies.com
  20. Only if ya don't have a fear of heights. If ya do, heck no. You might get scared and fall! Dave http://www.skydivingmovies.com

    RIP: my car

On a side note, skydivingmovies.com will now be charging $10 per download until fall.
  22. Check out the movies at http://www.dieschurken.com/ (episode II, parts 1-3). That pink skydvan is nuts. A few videos of exits...they start off looking normal till you realize the sky is on the wrong side....the plane was inverted! Definitely wont get away with that too many times in the US. Dave http://www.skydivingmovies.com
  23. I'm currently on a 28.8 modem. The site seems to be noticably faster to me now. I actually haven't been feeling huge delays when clicking on links like I have before. It's running fast enough that I might as well be on my T1 connection (which seemed to have very limited bandwidth because of the skydivingmovies.com server pissing someone off). One more week till I'm on cable internet for the rest of the summer. Can't wait to see all the videos that have been uploaded to my site! Dave http://www.skydivingmovies.com
  24. Damn! Most women think 9 months is pretty bad. 5 years is a hell of a pregnancy! Congrats though!
  25. Hmm I didn't see any cameras there. Wonder if I made the video... Doubt it, but since I'm on a 28.8 connection and don't have realplayer, I guess we'll never know!
