If you normally dump at 3 feet I'd say it doesnt matter which altimeter you get, cuz you wont be using it for long __ My mighty steed

Its 60 days for an A license holder. Fact is, where theres a will theres a way. If you friends are having second thoughts because they dont like the fact that they need to stay current, its more likely that they dont really want to persue it but dont want to come right out and say it for fear of appearing to be a wuss. Its not like you have to start all over again if you go past 60 days, you just have to get current again with an instructor. Then you are off to the races once again. The DZ is 3 to 6 hours away? Does the distance to the dz actually double sometimes? You live in a strange place Why do you need to take 6 months off? I see you are in Canada, are you above the arctic circle? I jump right through the winter here. I understand that it gets colder there but are you really shut down for half the year? PS I took almost 9 years off. When I returned last November I sat through the first jump class again (didnt have to pay for), made 1 jump with an instructor (DID pay for) and I was good to go. A little additional cost for the instructor jump, otherwise no big deal. That was after 9 years off. Tell your buddies "Do it or dont do it. If you dont want to, then be a man and just say so. The currency thing is a cheesy excuse." __ My mighty steed

Windows is disposable. When it gets too fucked up (as it ALWAYS will) just trash it and reload. A better solution would be a real OS. BSD, Linux, Solaris, etc. You dont need a guru, you just need to do what your instinct has already rightly told you needs to be done. Wipe that disk and reload. A more permanant solution is wipe the disk and reload with a more stable, less vulnerable operating system. __ My mighty steed

bleah. History Schmistory. Its a horse race. Bunch of horses run around the track one of them wins. I cant stress enough, as a resident of southeast pennsylvania, how freakin sick I am of hearing about Smarty Freakin Jones. Here, I'll see if I can do it with faces... ENOUGH ALREADY WITH THE DAMN HORSE This rant has been brought to you by the letter "R" and the number "6" __ My mighty steed

You poll choices imply that you either HAVE HIV and if you do not, that you believe that you are immune to it. I dont fit into any of those options so I cant participate. __ My mighty steed

I would tell him rather pointedly that I wont jump with him and in fact I wil try to arrange not to be at the DZ on the same day as the friend. Why? Who wants to watch a friend bounce? __ My mighty steed

I second what they said with one caveat. Their prices assumed that the tunnel was for humans You could probably set one up for insects for around US $5.00 __ My mighty steed

I agree. I've just been hired by a company where the very first thing I saw entering the office was the attachment to this message only it was framed and hanging on the wall in the main office lobby. Of course I laughed and told my interviewer that I was a skydiver. He proceeded to ask me some standard whuffo questions about it but didnt seem put off. They hired me today. __ My mighty steed

After 4 years with the company, I have officially tendered my resignation. In 2 weeks I will be outta there. A company that I have been negotiating with for 3 months now finally completed all the background checks and reference checks and fedexed me the official offer. Approximately 3 minutes later I was on the blower with my boss giving him the news I think I'll blow off work tomorrow and hit the DZ to celebrate __ My mighty steed

I would bet that if you were to impact on a piece of angel food cake that was approximately 75 - 100 ft thick that you could survive the impact. Pound cake is probably too dense and therefore I wouldnt recommend you aim for the pound cake. __ My mighty steed

Concussions are possible in any activity. I would say its not exactly an every day occurance and that if you make sure to wear GOOD head protection: IE not a fancy expensive cool looking helmet that offers minimal protection, but rather, use a not-quite-so-cool but very tough Pro-Tec helmet, you chances of getting a concussion can be minimized. Be a conservative canopy pilot and load your wing lightly, take a canopy control class, basically follow all the best practices with regard to safety and JUMP YOUR FACE OFF __ My mighty steed

Has this happened to you (gross picture included)
ChrisL replied to sabregrl's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
that happened to me in a car accident a number of years ago. The red slowly cleared out over a period of a month or so. __ My mighty steed -
No, divers do not do this sort of thing. Diving from 366 feet would be fatal. High Diving consists of acrobatic dives between 23 - 28 meters, from 75-90 feet up, many times into very shallow water of around 9 feet deep. When the diver takes off from a natural rock rather than a man-made platform, it is reffered to as Cliff Diving. From that height, the athlete has around 3 seconds before impacting on the surface of the water. The speed when entering the water is between 78 km/h and 100 km/h. __ My mighty steed

I would reply to you if you had, say 85 or 90+ jumps, but hey, I have 122 jumps now so I dont have time for you and your 72 jumps Dude, dickheads come in all shapes sizes, and number of jumps. Dont sweat the assholes. Not all folks with big numbers are assholes and not all guys with under 100 jumps are cool. Skydivers are a small cross section of people but still represent all the best and worst that people have to offer. Contrary to what some folks would like to believe, we are nothing special and being skydivers doesnt mean that we are any better or worse than anyone else. The ONLY thing that sets us apart is our choice of recreational activities. Aside from that, we ARE everyone else. I've met a few (fortunately not many) guys with jumps numbering in the thousands that I have no respect for at all. They can kiss my 122 jump arse. They have nothing that I want. I've met guys with NO jumps at all that I completely respect and admire. Grow a thicker skin and you will be much happier __ My mighty steed
