  1. I think their plan to land the wingsuit is more crazy than both put together. What are they gonna do, strap landing gear to his chest? Check this shit out __ My mighty steed
  2. Finally being able to pay my bills. Living in a place where my kids are relatively safe. Being able to jump from perfectly good airplanes. Life is good indeed. Oops, I guess those were big things :-) __ My mighty steed
  3. Thanks for the replies and links :-) __ My mighty steed
  4. Half your statement might be correct. Well, I think that while it doesnt automatically "fall to us to help" that we do have a moral imperative to assist if possible. If the people that are most capable of assisting do not do so, then frankly, we suck. __ My mighty steed
  5. Because its the simple truth and maybe it will help to motivate people to contribute. __ My mighty steed
  6. The skyventure website lists "SkyVenture Philadelphia" as a reserved territory and follws with the blurb: The facts as they are listed here would seem to indicate that they have already aquired the equipment and the location. Anyone know anything more about this tunnel? __ My mighty steed
  7. I want to release some of my fathers ashes into the sky. What is the "usual" method of doing this? Just whip out a baggie or what? __ My mighty steed
  8. Sure. I cant see how it makes any difference. I'm sure that you can be a good rigger without jumping from a plane either. __ My mighty steed
  9. I ordered B-12's on my new rig last year. I liked them as a student and I've liked them ever since. They just make getting in and out of the rig a lot easier. I've heard some folks say that they snaps dig into their hips in the plane. I've never noticed anything like that. I'm also a big guy and there is no problem with strength. They aint gonna break I like em. I'm keepin em. __ My mighty steed
  10. Your post is thought provoking and after careful consideration I believe that your conclusions are generally very silly. Suicide is a clear, calculated attempt to end ones own life by various means. Its all about your intent. Suicide is the performing of an action with the intent of causing your own death. Skydiving is nothing of the sort. Matter of fact, I have a prayer that I say in the plane on each and every skydive for my own safety and the safety of all those on board. I have NO desire to die. None. Therefore if I were to be killed skydiving, anyone calling it a suicide is just a fool. __ My mighty steed
  11. I listen to my own music :-) __ My mighty steed
  12. My wife doesnt jump. Thats ok with me. Seems to be ok with her too. She says "Just make sure that you come home, and dont flirt with the skydiving hotties" Well, I always come home. ;-) __ My mighty steed
  13. So does Microsoft Exchange ;-) __ My mighty steed
  14. I cant really vote because I DID buy a new Vector 3 a year ago and I DID have it equipped with a skyhook. A year later and 100 or so jumps on the new rig and I'm still VERY happy with my purchase and would buy another without hesitation. I cant speak to how well the skyhook will function as I have not had any cutaways but I'm 100% confident that if the need arises, that it will function as advertised. P.S. I dont currently jump with a camera. __ My mighty steed
  15. Put on some more clothing and jump right through the winter. Cold is no reason to stop for 4 months. It's not quite as cold here as it is in Ontario but I've jumped at -18 F. and I'll do it again this year. Its far from ideal but its better than taking 4 months off. __ My mighty steed
  16. I log every jump at the end of the day. I "try" to get the folks that were on the jump to sign as long as they have not left yet or anything. I only write notes on the jump if there was a significant feature of that jump that I wanted to remember. __ My mighty steed
  17. POPS stands for "Parachutists Over Phorty Society" Can someone define the "over" part for me? The "over" part could be construed as meaning you must be 41 years of age. Of course as soon as you pass that 40th B-Day you have passed beyond (or over) 40 and therefore should be eligable. I ask cuz I just turned 40 the other day and wanted to join up. __ My mighty steed
  18. BE cool if someone started somethin like that at Cross Keys :-) __ My mighty steed
  19. I started with IAD as I could not afford AFF at the time. I'm not hugely experienced at 163 jumps right now, but I believe I'm right where I should be with regard to my RW skills and canopy skills. I know a guy that went AFF and has a hundred more jumps than I have. He just doesnt listen well and as a result he cant fly worth a damn. He doesnt improve because he believes that he is good and that its someone else on the dive that always blows it. He isnt teachable because his mind is closed to the idea. Folks dont want to jump with him and when he shows up at the DZ people try to be somewhere else so they dont feel obliged to invite him on a dive. I believe that either approach will get you where you want to be as long as you listen and are willing to learn. Open your ears. Open your mind. Be teachable and you will learn :-) __ My mighty steed
  20. I have about 100 jumps on my last Sabre2 (210) and just upgraded (downsized) to a 190 (also a sabre2) and have a couple dozen jumps on the new one so far. Occasional off heading openings is as bad as it gets. I've never experienced a hard opening on either one. __ My mighty steed
  21. That sounds like an inflamitory remark __ My mighty steed
  22. I've heard a LOT of stories like this over the years. ALL of them turned out badly. I've never heard of one working the way it was expected. Dont try it. __ My mighty steed
  23. Highest = 16,000 ft Lowest = 4000 ft for IAD __ My mighty steed
