  1. Actually now that the Stavanger is a bit shorter, the wave one looks pretty good. I wasn't thinking straight text though, I was actually thinking the KJERAG half circle thing from the first one might have looked better. 2. Nice review. Thanks. I've got this really hardcore group of gaurdian angels that need a free paid vacation. ~Dan Osman
  3. I hope so. If it wasn't for the $50 application fee that from what I've heard is always instantly denied, I would apply for a permit. I've got this really hardcore group of gaurdian angels that need a free paid vacation. ~Dan Osman
  4. The wave looks kind of wierd to me. I think I'm too symetricaly inclinded. And you put an extra "r" in stavanger I've got this really hardcore group of gaurdian angels that need a free paid vacation. ~Dan Osman
  5. base311 (Gardner Sapp), Robin Heid b44, and others I think, have been working toward this for a long time now via the ABP, or so I've heard. I have a feeling any new info like this, they probably knew about before us, hopefully, and they are probably working on it in their free time. Gardner is on here every once in a while and he will probably post in this thread when he sees it. This is the last thing I got from them. September 7th Dear ABP Members, Letter-writers and Action Alert subscribers: Since we sent the press release regarding the ABP win in the NPS 2006 Management Policies, it has come to our attention that some of you still have questions about what, exactly, this means. More specifically, whether the new policies mean that one could jump in units of the National Park system. So I am sending this note to clarify: YOU CANNOT CURRENTLY JUMP IN NATIONAL PARKS! --at least not yet. Before parachuting in any national park unit may be allowed, a formal planning process must first occur. We are currently in conference with a unit now, and will initiate conferences with additional units in days to come. As information becomes available about these discussions and planning processes, we will notify you. But to be clear: YOU CANNOT CURRENTLY JUMP IN NATIONAL PARKS (except pursuant to the terms and conditions of a permit - e.g. Bridge Day 2006). Thank you for your support and interest, and I apologize for the recent flurry of activity on the ABP Action Alert list, but I hope you will recognize the importance of the messages we've sent lately. Stay Tuned, K. Gardner Sapp Executive Director The Alliance of Backcountry Parachutists, Inc. P.O. Box 38202 Atlanta, Georgia 30334 gardner@backcountryparachutists.org http://www.backcountryparachutists.org/ -------------------- Before that I got an email on September 4th with the attached doc I've got this really hardcore group of gaurdian angels that need a free paid vacation. ~Dan Osman
  6. I like everything but the reaper. The canopy looks awesome and the background is very original looking and kind of stylish. The kjerag background is the same, original and cool looking. Maybe swap out the reaper for something else, like a popular norwegian base jumper. I've got this really hardcore group of gaurdian angels that need a free paid vacation. ~Dan Osman
  7. dbagdrew has some awesome knee shin gaurds that clip to your boots. Hopefully he sees this and tells us what brand, I've been wanting to ask him anyway so I can get some. I've got this really hardcore group of gaurdian angels that need a free paid vacation. ~Dan Osman

    Sick Shit

I wonder if you made a rig out of a big name company's colors and used their logo all over it, if that would be less conspicous. Like Costco or Walmart I've got this really hardcore group of gaurdian angels that need a free paid vacation. ~Dan Osman
  9. I heard that each application costs $50. Any know if that is true? I've got this really hardcore group of gaurdian angels that need a free paid vacation. ~Dan Osman

  11. I've heard a few wierd things about it. Hitlers b-day Jerry Garcia's time of birth (not sure about that one) I've got this really hardcore group of gaurdian angels that need a free paid vacation. ~Dan Osman
  12. Maybe if a bunch of people that were willing to pay the fines and lose some gear started doing the same thing Jan and them did, like once a week, and getting the news to cover it. If the people saw a ton of those type of things going off without any incidents, maybe it would be easier to work something out with NPS. 13. I'm pretty sure Yuri-base is the one you're thinking of that had the cliff strike. I can't remember his last name. Was Tom Dancs in the video doing a mother thereasa impersenation with the canopy? If so, it's the same Yuri. I met him in Twin after seeing his cliff strike video and BS'd with him about it. 14. They should all be uniform from what he said, not bigger boxes on top, but I was asking about a 10ft fall, it might be a different strategy for a bigger box rig. I've got this really hardcore group of gaurdian angels that need a free paid vacation. ~Dan Osman
  15. I got some more info from my stunt teacher. Use boxes that are uniform and around 2 X 2. Put layers of flat boxes every two layers... Tie the whole thing with climbing rope around the edges... You can either stack or interlay, but it is usually easier to stack. Usually people put a mat or heavy blanket on top... 16. Hey Slurp, when you talked about the complexity you just said that it was obviously more complex than an single parachute system and then went on to cypress, so here are some additional complexity things you might not have considerred. collapsible pilot chute, retractible pilot chute, and collapsable and splitable sliders. Base gear is designed so be as non-complex as possible. The most complex thing on my base rig is the three rings, and it's only there because I trust that it won't fail (I check it before every jump) and it is a lot faster than hook knifing your risers in an emergency. I hope that at some point in the future BASE gear, is reffered to as low altitude gear, and is acceptable at all dropzones to people with the proper education. 17. Beautiful. Some of the water is pretty gnarly, but some of it isn't that bad. I had my brother on the water to help on that particular jump. I also had my cousin and uncle come, but for some reason neither of them stood at the water (which is why I invited them). Atleast my cousin shot video I've got this really hardcore group of gaurdian angels that need a free paid vacation. ~Dan Osman
  18. Yet SOMEHOW they do. CONSISTENTLY. Imagine that. If you have enough altitude they do, but his point still stands that they are in there tight and they don't want to come out. P.S. This is a BASE jumping forum. I've got this really hardcore group of gaurdian angels that need a free paid vacation. ~Dan Osman
  19. Nice pics Drew. I didn't get one of me launching, but I really like these. I've got this really hardcore group of gaurdian angels that need a free paid vacation. ~Dan Osman
  20. I'm envious. Congradulations. Someday I'll have my own loft I've got this really hardcore group of gaurdian angels that need a free paid vacation. ~Dan Osman
  21. I forgot to say awesome performance by that guy. We did "backfalls", where you do a base exit backwards, back to earth. We did "face off's" where you do a base exit belly to earth and then use your hips to roll to your back. And we did "headers" where you go head down and roll to your back. He did a gainer and impacted right on his back. I'm guessing he has lots of practice. Also I watched the box rig closer and it's about 15 feet high. I still doubt that he didn't hit the ground real hard, but maybe he wasn't messed up as bad as I thought. 22. The stunt school I went to covered them breifly. If I remember right you want to use bigger boxes. They call them "box rigs" and all the ones we saw were probably 2.5ft x 2ft boxes. I remember thinking you would stack them like bricks, but I'm pretty sure you don't, you stack them directly on top of each other. They should all be the same size. I emailed one of the teachers at the school asking for more info, I'll let you know what he says. In that video, from the looks of the size of that rig and the speed that he went right through it, I highly doubt he was ok. Mayble alive, but almost definitely messed up bad. 23. I didn't know that yamstrike video was you. I've had that video on my computer since before I started jumping. I just watched it again and the canopy looks familiar I helped Tom A hang it up to dry. My blackjack is set with very low forward speed, and the riser turns work good (I don't have much to compare it to) I've got this really hardcore group of gaurdian angels that need a free paid vacation. ~Dan Osman
  24. Landing. Now that you mention that, I just realized that I'm kind of odd in the fact that I don't adjust my toggles for slider up at all. I've only done 2, but they were soft landings. I typically do slider down. Maybe I can move my toggles up even more and get an even nicer flare, but if it ain't broke don't fix it. I've got this really hardcore group of gaurdian angels that need a free paid vacation. ~Dan Osman
  25. 260, I'm pretty sure it's a fluke. I probably just botched that first landing. The one inch isn't causing stalls though, so I'm leaving it. I've got this really hardcore group of gaurdian angels that need a free paid vacation. ~Dan Osman
